Hey there,

I listened to your video and would love to share some of my answers to your requests!

1: Your specific $$ to gems exchange idea would be hard since the higher you go with $$ the more “bonus gems” you get. Also not sure about the taxes on those $0.5 gems purchases..

2: check points in the personal story would be very nice!

3: You want more and better communication between the Devs and their players. I’m all for that.

4: You asked if everyone had access to the BWE1!
Answer = Players who have pre-purchased may use their beta-character slots to try our new profession, the revenant, with all five full trait lines and all four core legends, including Shiro. You’ll also be able to play with our new system that grows your character professions into new elite specializations—you’ll be able to try out the chronomancer, dragonhunter, reaper, and tempest.
We’ll also turn on our new Stronghold PvP game mode for all players for the duration of the weekend, along with the new Mist Champion selection system. Players who pre-purchase Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will have all currently revealed Mist Champions automatically unlocked for their use throughout the weekend.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Here’s a summary from the whole video. I hope that I portrayed the OP’s feelings accurately:

Positives the OP underlines:

+He loves the UI and the development/LS2
+Music: “mindblowing” (wants A-net to focus on soundtrack and gameplay in HoT)
+The Charr story has got him back into the game, he believes it to be better than all other race’s stories.

Negatives OP describes:

-Gems: OP doesn’t like that there’s a limit/increments on the transactions. He mentioned this in another thread already: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Feedback-on-ingame-payment/first#post5344928

-Story mode: OP knows things will be fixed. There are a few bugs that OP is concerned about:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Victory-or-Death-Bug-merged
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/ZHAITAN-cannon-still-bugged
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/Endless-Victory-or-Death
He believes that players will leave the game and give up hope when encountering these bugs.
To solve some of these problems, he suggests a checkpoint system, so if there was a bug or if your PC crashed, it wouldn’t matter as you can restart from that point.

-Daily and monthly achievements: He doesn’t like that monthly achievements were removed. He doesn’t like how the daily/monthlies were removed from the UI in the upper right corner. He left the game because of lack of monthlies.

-The Forum: He believes that the forum is wasting developer’s time. He believes that by having a list/summary of active bugs, players will be able to see what bugs are active and their current state. This means that that players are better informed and it’s easier to check what bugs are affecting players.

My feedback and responses to the OP’s questions:

-I appreciate that you’ve made a video because it’s easy for you to communicate, but I honestly think it would’ve been better just to write your feelings. Your video is quite long which unfortunately means most people won’t have the time to listen to it. Hence I helped you out and wrote a quick summary of everything. It’s also far easier for players and devs to refer back to your opinions if it’s in text. I can assure you that most people will be able to read the same information you read out, but in less time. That being said, it was certainly fresh and different to listen to a video, so thank you for that.

Gems: I already wrote my response to this problem in the thread I linked. Like I said there, I think that if this was a profitable move for A-net, it would’ve already happened.

Story mode: There have always been bugs- unfortunately it’s just a fact of the game. However, there are actually very few bugs in the story that affect absolutely everybody every time they enter an instance. No doubt that these bugs upset people- it’s frustrating that you can’t do something you were expecting to be able to do without a hitch.

In all the time I’ve been playing (multiple characters, loads and loads of story instances), I’ve only ever had one story instance bug myself which wouldn’t budge after 3 repeats of the problem instance. I just left it for a few weeks and came back to it and was able to continue it, no problem.

The thing is, people who leave the game simply because they can’t do a story mission probably would’ve left the game once they had completed the whole story anyway. If there was nothing else they felt inclined to do (other than story), then there wasn’t anything else keeping them around.

A checkpoint system would be neat for longer instances. However, there are very few instances that are so long to warrant such a thing. The story is already separated up into small portions. If there was a bug or you had to log off, it wouldn’t be the end of the world to restart it.

Monthlies: They were removed, yes. The AP limit from monthlies and dailies were merged together, so now you can get a maximum of 15,000 AP from them both. From what I heard, there were a couple of reasons why they did it. One reason was to stop AP farmers from feeling like they had to do absolutely everything to stay on top. The other reason was that monthlies weren’t challenging, they were just grind. It took people away from interesting content and led them towards mindless stuff.

There is a way to get your dailies in the top right corner again. You click the little eye symbol on the top right of each of the daily achievements (found in the hero panel). They stopped being default in the top right because it was getting ridiculously cluttered. Now players can choose if they want it up there or not, which is far better than it was.

The Forum: The bug section of the forum summarises what you asked for pretty well. I think it would also be a waste of developers time if they had to maintain a list of all the bugs and what they did and how far they were into repairing it. The problem with the forum is that players can be very bad at titling threads to be clear and concise. The other problem is that the search function of the forum is broken, meaning players can’t easily search if there has been a thread made about their current issue.

Unfortunately, A-net has no way of fixing the search bar on the forum. They hired contractors to make the website, since then it broke, and now they can’t repair it themselves. I’m not sure how good redditors are at updating the GW2 subreddits about bugs, but it might be worth discussing things there.

The forums aren’t really there to notify devs about in-game bugs- it’s to share the information with other players. If you want to report a bug to the devs, do it in-game under support. It’s far more useful for them, because then they can access the game’s log to see what could’ve triggered the bug and your exact scenario/circumstances.
