Guild wars
The option is coming with Heart of Thorns. The addition of Guild Halls will bring with it an arena which will allow for guilds to battle it out against each other, in large or small groups.
Have a read here:
“Next, Josh, Jessica, and Jon went over some of the changes guild halls are bringing to Player vs. Player. Players will be able to build a guild arena in their hall and customize it to their liking by placing decorations—some of them more lethal than others. Obstacles that can be added to the arena include turrets, line-of-sight-blocking pillars, and lava pits. You can even set the rules to determine whether or not players can be knocked off the side of the arena to their deaths.
While the final number of players allowed in the arena hasn’t been nailed down, it’s currently possible to have forces as large as twenty or thirty doing battle at one time."

Ohh okay, thats awesome thanks So we might get some guild tournament soon, once they perfect the system or sth
Guild vs Guild has been on the design schedule since this game started development. And given its importance in Guild Wars 1, there was universal shock and outrage that the mode was not only missing at launch for GW2, but that the majority of guild features were absent for the longest time.
Because of a scheduling problem, they were banking on stronger popularity of WvW…… which ultimately hurt WvW, as a LOT of people wanted a WvW styled map, but geared for 15 vs 15 match ups (or 25 vs 25 for big fights) so guild teams could face off competitively. Its one of several reasons Fight Guilds started surfacing in EB. sPvP is too small, but Boarderlands were too complicated. But EB has symmetrical pathing around the map; making it easy for them to wander around and run into groups to skirmish.
So believe me… this subject has been an infected scab with the community from before Day 1 of the game. Now we’re all waiting to see how it all works in action, so we can decide to breath a sigh of relief, or tear Anet a new skritt hole.
My only concern is if it’s like gw1, then it will be limited to certain amounts of memebers meaning many won’t be allowed to rep the guild in guild battle. This favors smaller guilds but big guilds will have issues determining who gets on the team I’d think.

GW1 GvG has nothing to do with those zerg vs zerg fights.
GvG is an 8vs8 mode with a guildlord, NPCs, spike/splittactics, healers. Maybe stronghold goes a bit into this direction. Add a better combat system and it might be comparable. Afaik voicechat in ZvZ is usually more about movement (push in, go right blablabla) and less about “I’m blind” “condicleanse” “interrupt on XY”. Which are basic infos in GW1 PVP. It’s a completly different game, GW2 zergfights have nothing in common with GvG or HA.
GW2 offers nothing which can be compared to GW1 PVP – which lead to an uproar in GW1 PVP Community. I don’t think many of them are still present in GW2. (y, i know: some are)
