Hey everyone,
I am a leader in a farely large guild (50-150 active daily) and I’ve noticed some very disturbing drops in influence gains since the Lost Shores Update. Before the update, we had no problems keeping up every single passive guild buff. It took a bit of influence management on my part, but it was easily doable with the amount of active members we had completing activities.

However, since the update we barely have enough influence now to keep up the 3 influence boost + Karma boost, let alone all the other’s. We have MORE members online daily since the patch, and yet are getting much less influence every day.

There are 2 major reasons I believe are causing this:

1. Plinx nerf. I realize this is silly, it’s just one event nerf and it really shouldn’t have a big impact. But just go take a look at cursed shore, it’s deserted now. I agree that it was silly that Plinx was where nearly everyone went to karma farm, however I think a better solution would have been to buff some other area’s / event chains rather then nerfing Plinx. It was easy, and in one farely central place. So tons of people did it for the karma. The problem is now that its gone, people don’t farm events because it’s no longer as efficient and “easy” in the other area’s.
Lately I’ve seen tons of people farming various bosses in instances to get karma instead, which gives no influence since they aren’t completing the dungeon. This results in a ton less influence being brought in through events, since nobody is doing them for karma anymore.

2. Fractals of the Mist not a traditional dungeon. What I mean by this, is that as far as I’m aware, since Fractals isn’t a dungeon in the traditional sense (ie. completion reward at the end) guilds aren’t getting constant influence from it’s completion. Obviously there are a TON of people running Fractals since it’s the new hip thing to do, which is fine. But it would be nice if we could get some influence from it.

If it’s intended that we are only supposed to have enough influence to keep up a few buffs, that’s fine. But it would be great if you could communicate this to us please!

TLDR: Influence gains are a LOT lower. Possibly due to Plinx nerf (nobody doing events anymore) and Fractals not giving influence.

Believe me, I’ve noticed it too. We’ve started to think about cutting down on having a single guild buff running now instead of multiple ones. Couple that with people not running events in general, non-representers and people who have quit the game.

Honestly, I would blame it on the fractals alone. Fractals should reward guild influence, and that influence should be relative to the difficulty of the fractal, and rewarded per fractal chest opened.

It just seems to be a huge oversight that the intended “endgame” content doesn’t add influence.

Even if plinx hadn’t been nerfed (And I’m glad it was. We were never intended to farm the same world event or three over and over. World events are supposed to encourage moving all around a zone.) You would have seen the drop as fractals are new and shiny and have great loot, so everyone wants to be in them.

There is also the multiplicative effect when there is multiple people from the same guild doing the same DE.

When 1 person from your guild does a DE, I think you get 2 influence, when there are 2 people from your guild doing the same DE, it gives 14 I believe instead of 4. With an event like plinx where there are multiple people in your guild doing the same DE, the multiplicative effects really adds up.

Hence I think 10 people doing the same DE would gives more influence that 2 groups of 5 people doing separate DEs.

You know, it probably is people running Fractals and not events. I did a couple dungeons and events with a couple guildmates in a party over the week so far, and we got a pretty good chunk of Influence for it. I’ll get the numbers if people are interested.

And it kind of makes a sort of sense? If you want Influence gain, get out in the world and show your guild presence.

That would make sense, but because the release dungeons give influence, I look at it as a matter of consistancy. Fractals are essentially a dungeon, so the reward should be consistent with other group instances. It doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense to effectively punish guilds for running fractals together, which the entire multiplicative influence system would normally reward better than pugging them solo.
