Hellfire Greaves (boots) 21k AP!?!
Why not? There are people close to 21k Achievement Points already. If you want them, work hard to get those AP each day and earn them.
Someone hasn’t looked at the Leaderboard lately

It’s something to be earned. The game is meant to last you years and keep you playing – it makes sense to have achievement rewards set up for the future because as years go by people will start hitting these high points regularly.
So they add content based on the guys that log in and spend 4 hours a day to do all the achievements of the game!
And what about the 12k gap between the previous piece of armor and that one? That doesn’t make any sense.
The ammount of AP is just absurb considering that there are 2 armor pieces left.

It gives you a goal. Something tells me you will be able to live without it until then. The problem I see with a lot of people on these forums is the, “It’s there. I should be able to get it right now!” mentality. Long term goals are good.
The achievement rewards are long-term goals.
If you keep playing you will get them sooner or later. They will keep releasing stuff when people are closing in on the current “max”. Get used to it.

Only 14k more AP to go! Woo!
Thats ridiculous. Gap is way to big, but w/e.
How is the gap way too big?
It is the exactly same amount of APs that there is between the other Hellfire/Radiant skins.

It’s meant to be a long time goal – not something you get quickly.
The gap seems big, but a lot of players are already getting close to that mark and then there are a lot of people who are halfway and it’s good for them to know that there is a reward for when they get there – rather than nothing.
Me personally, I’m ages away from it – I’ve been playing since launch and I only have 6K AP. And that’s ok… I’ll get there eventually.

???
Ehm yeah 3 pieces of armor till 9k AP…1 piece of armor at the next 12k AP.That’s not “exactly” the same is it?
ANet gives us short-term goals, people complain about how easy they are to obtain.

3,000 Gloves
6,000 Shoulders
9,000 Helmet
12,000 Gloves
15,000 Mantle
18,000 Helmet
21,000 Boots
I would say that is exactly the same amount of points (3000) between all of Radiant/Hellfire items.
They can’t really add it retroactively to a lower chest of course, seeing as that would mean people would miss out if they had already opened that one.

Way too high. ’Nuff said.
I only care about the Radiant pieces so the whole systems all screwed up now because of the repeat thing…
Rather have full set of Radiant @ 18000AP
(edited by Doggie.3184)
Following the other ones, this should be at exatly 12k. Why do I have to get all Hellfire before can get another part of radiant? I mean, I don’t like hellfire. Its ugly.
I would have to agree, if they weren’t giving out the other skins at regular intervals. First time through you get the Hellfire skins and second time through you get Radiant skins or vice versa. It seems fair to me. Granted, I have to admit, I would have preferred to get a whole armor set first before being given the option to get the other armor set, too. However, I can’t say I’m disappointed with the way they did things, because it’s fairly reasonable.

If you want that armor piece, then work hard to get it. Players aren’t Entitled to getting everything they want. Sometimes you have to EARN it.
haha, long term goal. A long term goal only makes sense when its realistic.
Lets say you get the boots at 21 and 24k and then pants at 27 and chest at 30 because that number makes at least any kind of sense. If i would be a new player and finally gettin my 3k along with the gloves and i would be like “nice gloves i want that set, wonder how many points i need for the full one?” and then see 30k “oh wow thats only time gated behind 3 years+ excessive grind” well yeah.. That isnt exactly encouraging in any way to say the least and i for sure wouldnt get pumped up to get the game playin and the achievements done.
Full melee Ranger since August 2012
It still makes no sense. Why should i get hellfire skins i don’t even care about – else i would have chosen those – instead of a part of the set i’m interested in?
Why 21k? I wish this were added as the 12k mark. I’ve played as much as I can with my limited free time, sitting at 1,323 hours played and I’m only at 6,575 Achievement Points. At this rate I won’t get the greaves until years later.
:(
It’s meant to be special. If everyone had it, it wouldn’t be special. Personally I wouldn’t mind if they introduced the first radiant piece at 10k.
It wouldn’t be so bad if doing dailies/monthlies wasn’t such a huge portion of APs. Makes it quite rough on new folks. Really, all APs show is how much time you can spend in game and that you’ve not burned out ticking off all the little boxes. Very few of them out of the whole seem to require actual skill.
They kinda screwed themselves up on this one :/
It seems like a really awkward design that you go Gloves>Shoulder>Head>Gloves>Shoulders>Head>Boots.
At the same time though, it’s too late to change it.
It’s something to be earned.
Sure, I get that, but something that will most likely take the majority of players (definitely me) 2 years + to obtain? Kinda ridiculous for ‘something to be earned’.
For something that takes around 2 years to obtain (unless you’re uber, uber rich), I would expect that item to have legendary weapon status, but not an achievement skin – unless that in and of itself is legendary, which it is not.
Next we’ll have the legs at something ridiculous like 38k points and plate at 50k.
#grindfest #nothanks
Full set of Hellfire armor? The GW2 equivalant of GWAMM. BRING IT ON!!!!!!
I don’t need to say that I am a big fan of this update.
How much longer till I get the pants and chest?
Of course they’re to be earned, but earned after 3 years? Possibly longer? The chest and leggings will cost even more, which is really scary.
What’s rewarded after the Greaves?
Probably leggings. Last checked, nobody has the points for the greaves just yet.
I don’t like how rewards are dictated by the leader board and whom are earning every achievement every single day.
Expecting people to keep up isn’t encouraging.
I’m at 14k and even seems like a lot.

Who knows they might have already planned what rewards go with what chest but only releasing that information when people get near enough to them to see them on their achievement page. So that when it pops up it’s not a big fat ?
I’m at just over 13k. Thing is, GW2 has only been out for about 1.5 years now. If this trend keeps up, I’ll hit the Greaves at about the end of 2014. If GW2 has a lifespan of about 5 years, I’ll have accumulated both full sets of Radiant and Hellfire armor. Seems like a fair way to show that someone’s been a dedicated player of the game since release.

This post kinda made me feel awful about the whole planet and about our species overall.
If they gonna stick to this 3000 per item you will need 48.000 AP to get the full armor.
12k for boots would make more sense in my opinion.

Gw2 is about buying gems every week for the new cash shop skins and grinding out dailies. Rarely do you get challenging content that rewards players. Enjoy playing dress up
I do wonder how people that talk about adding it to the 12k tier thinks.
How would that work for people (it is rather many by now) that have already gotten past 12k and already gotten the reward.
Should they be unable to complete the set, just because you want it to be obtained earlier?

Would give the players that already achieved the 12k chest an email with an item attachment, allowing them to unlock Radiant or Hellfire Greaves.

Just make Hellfire/Radiant like the Zenith weapons. Every 3k we are able to choose between all set items actually implementet. So no retroactively rewards needed.
The same argument being used against unlocks at 21k AP could be used to argue that all unlocks should be available at 1 AP.
If you want this purely cosmetic reward you can get it. Some people will get it more quickly than others by putting in more effort. This sort of cosmetic progression is how the game was advertised.
Would give the players that already achieved the 12k chest an email with an item attachment, allowing them to unlock Radiant or Hellfire Greaves.
So people with high amount of APs basically get double rewards? I don’t really think that is something that will be appreciated by the players.

21k for a pair of boots? Wow ArenaNet.
Both sets are hideous. I see no problem here.
But they are shiny.
Look at the boots I will never have.
lol
Disclaimer: I am not ranting. I’m just lazy to do a meme..
It’s pretty hard to make them available at lower AP count since there are already people who have 20k+ AP…
Maybe it’s a little too high, but the problem is the inconsistency of it.
First piece is 3k
Second piece is 6k
Third piece is 9k
So why isn’t it 12k? It jumps all the way to 21k. I agree with other people a full set should be 18k. I’ve have 4k hours played, and been playing since launch. I only have a little over 10k ap.
I’m not an ap hunter, and I don’t care to be. I play the game because I enjoy it. I’m not going to log in every day to grind ap points. If it doesn’t change then whatever. The armor isn’t the best looking anyways.

There are two things that are far too stretched here.
1. The gap between radiant helm and radiant boots.
2. Your logic.

I agree with that… I also play since lunce, and got 10k AP and I see no reason in those 21ks for a set… why would I need the gloves on 1 set, while the other one is still half way in… looking at the current AP leaderboards – and presuming the full set of 1 type will be available at 27 AP I can do the following math:
Game is on for what 17 months now? so thats an avarage of 1176 AP per month (watching the top of the board). Getting into consideration that a lot of the AP like weapon master, slayer, and so on dont have progression, ppl cant keep on getting that much AP at this point. I dont even think that they can hit 1000 APs per month (u get 710 AP if all daily and monthly both PvP and PvE achievements are done)… Adding the Livin story APs – arround 40 to ~130 APs so avarage is about 85… the result is about 800 APs.
The top player for Europe currently has 20552 APs – so for him, to the the full set, this means 8 months of insane grinding… Talking about legacies here… I can’t be the only one thinking this is wrong to say at least…
p.s. My math is not the best, correct me if I am wrong its not my Major of studies after all…
