Hi, I am quite a new player in GW2. I first started out as a thief and I found out that thief sucks in PVE, so I decided to have a change and play Spvp instead. After playing and watching matches in Spvp, I realised thief is not easy to play. Mainly due to low defence and lousy condition removal. Thus, I was thinking of rerolling.

So, I was wondering if you guys can help me choose a all-rounder class that is easy and fun to play. By the way, I have ping ranging from 250~300ms.

Can you guys be more specific when answer my question.
Example (Please don’t just say “ranger”, give answer like “spirit ranger” or “condition ranger”.)

Every profession has what to offer you, If you love to play PvP/WvW, you can go Any build on mesmer/thief (it’s so fun to play mind games with the other players) and condi necro, if you want to play PvE go warrior/guardian, if you want challange, go Elementalist and maybe engi (i’ve never played engi but i think its hard to play with all these kits) This is my opinion

This. You can enjoy all aspects of the game (WvW, sPvP, PvE), you will always be wanted, especially in PvE and WvW.

Warriors are very, very simple and easy for a new player to pick up and just play. It’s like driving a monster truck with training wheels and mounted lasers.

And you’ll see 80% of the population running the same class as you. Hooray!
Personally: I like thief, engineer and guardian most.

Engineer is n°1 if you purely want to have fun (no you won’t face-smash people like on warrior). It has a lot of interesting skills and effects. Very original feel.
Thief is lovely cause it involves a lot of sneaking and has stealth.
Guardian is just very cool if you do not follow the mainstream builds. I personally run mace/focus and sword/shield with consecrations!

Just roll a warrior or guardian.

You will be wanted in PvE, you will always have viable specs in pvp, and even if you do get nerfed, it wont be that bad.

Do not roll a thief, A-Net is nerfing every aspect of that class and buffing useless traits that remain useless.

Guardian and Warrior both have lots to offer you. They both have tons of options for support and DPS (condition and direct, though in very different ways), as well as control.

I agree with what people said above, it is very tempting to just roll warrior or guardian and be easily one of the ‘best’. But it ultimately depends on what you want from the game and your boredom threshold. I tried a warrior.. and it was pretty amazing.. I just hundred blades everything and it dies. I was like “WOW.. this is amazing..” for like.. the first 14 or so levels.. then I just got bored…

Now I am leveling an elementalist. Sure, they aren’t really THE BEST.. but at least at the end of the day I won’t find myself pressing one button and being bored..

SO YEAH.. basically.. you have to decide if you just want to do damage efficiently and easily or with a bit more.. finesse?

Well, fortunately 100 Blades isn’t all there is to warriors. Like every class, your options really open up past 30.

Just so, that’s why I suggested engineer, thief or guard (sure guard is nearly played as much as warrior, but involves a lot more skill if you want to be good).

Warriors, most viable builds, Anet’s golden child, wanted everywhere.

I can also tell you what class to not pick. If you want to PvE alot, don’t ever go ranger/necro/engi. Parties will either kick you or just consider you dead weight.

b-but! thief is fun in PvE!! I have a Mesmer, a Guardian and a Thief, all 3 of them full PvE my thief is a condi thief and is incredibly fun, unless i run into a condi necro or sword warrior xD

anyways, if you want a toon for soloing content Mesmer is the way to go Staff and GS have amazing kiting potential, you can kill almost everything alone
