I got that chest after my account was upgraded. I hope the new account has a new RNG string so my loot drops increase, as the conspiracy theorists say that new accounts have really good loot drops. It better not get worse…..
They really should upgrade all the account that are using discontinued SKU’s. Good business practice. These types of customer service errors are what creates the ire of a customer base with the corporate entities that seem to not think their actions through. I hope they learn from the past mistakes of other companies and treat all their customers equally.

I got the Collector’s Edition and I got 2 of these chests plus the Letter of Influence. I already bought all 3 sets via armor store, so it’s more of the thought that counts if it isn’t a bug.

Same here. Though I only had the Primeval armor set, so now I’ll have all three sets
Disappointed that we’re not marked with having a Collector’s Edition anymore though But DD was same ingame rewards I guess, so theres that.

if this thing fixed technical problems, i’m ok with that
but as a long time gw2 player i’m a little upset because i spent gems for the digital deluxe upgrade, as well for the 3 heritage armor set.

i was in the beta so i got an heroic chest too, with a choice from 3 sets that i already have and 10x boosters that i will never use, but free stuff, no much complains about it.
the complain was that people that doenst bought gems like me got this and other rewards and it doenst seems fair, either for me and for those who bought stuff like collector edition, subscribed to the newsletter and didnt even get the beta invitation

i just feel like i “lost” 2500 gems with this

So … this chests are for the players that had the discontinued version AND got in the beta, the players that just have the discontinued version and didn’t get in the beta gets nothing at all … sounds fair >_>

As another pointed out above, the discontinued versions will likely get their upgrades and thus chests when converting to HoT. Possibly even sooner, if the trait system change requires reflagging accounts like removing the beta slot did.

Heck, it’s possible ANet will work on a steady stream of upgrading old but still active accounts now; it might well be in their best interests to have the older versions phased out.

I had a golem banker sent to me the other day. It too was from an ANet mail. Saying it was to replace a lost item. I thought it had something to do the the ticket I submitted about the carapace boot box that dropped for me that disappeared when I clicked on it.

Just curious since you said your friend got downgraded from DD to Heroic, if she creates a new character does she get the 2 week banker? Also there was no Heroic edition at launch but I’m guessing you meant the base version.

Not sure, but I’m also wondering if the portal stone has dropped for anyone since these chests began appearing today. I didn’t think my mesmer’s extended stay in the Silverwastes was over until tomorrow…

i was in stress test and today i got the mail with heroic chest and guild influence and also found the portal for next beta and i don’t know for sure which edition my game is,,,,, i just bought the box from a shop…

SKU stands for stock keeping unit. It is a unit that allows companies to track sales and and other information related to the product. There is not a SKU edition per se. There are different SKUs assigned to different versions of the game. Apparently people that got the rewards had an edition of the game assigned an SKU that is no longer used.

Well when you bought the game and first logged in did you get any rewards mailed to you in game? If not you probably have the base game which is apparently assigned an SKU that is no longer used.

Here is a chart of rewards assigned to each version if that helps.

I tried creating a new character and got the Golem Banker, etc. earlier today. But hat notwithstanding, I originally pre-purchased the digital deluxe edition. The Heroic Edition is a downgrade for me, not an upgrade.

I opened a ticket requesting a Digital Deluxe SKU since that’s what I paid for. We’ll see where it goes.

You should get the benefits of both. Mine is the CE and I have suffered no ill effects from the sku change

I bought the Digital Deluxe Edition during pre-purchase, got all the items I was supposed to get and still have them. I’ve always had the option to buy the upgrade in the gem store. (I never have but apparently if you do it means you get a 2nd copy of all the items, except the Mistfire Wolf since that’s an unlock rather than an item.)

You have not been ‘downgraded’ and have not lost anything.

Essentially (as the chart here and in JustTrogdor’s post above) shows there are 4 versions of the game, 2 sold at any given time.

Pre-Purchase & First Year

• Standard Edition – Just the game.
• Digital Deluxe/Collectors Edition – (I’ve grouped these two together because in-game they’re the same.) The game plus the Mistfire Wolf skill, mini Rytlock, Golem Banker (1 per character), Chalice of Glory and Tome of Influence.

First Anniversary Onwards

• Heroic Edition – The game plus a set of Legacy Armor (Primeval, Krytan or Profane), 10 XP boosters and an 18 slot Mithril Box.
• Digital Deluxe Heroic Edition – The game plus the Mistfire Wolf skill, mini Rytlock, Golem Banker (1 per character), Chalice of Glory and Tome of Influence, Legacy Armor, 10 XP boosters and an 18 slot Mithril Box.

The Heroic and Digital Deluxe editions are not mutually exclusive. It’s possible to have both. Which is what every single person who bought either a new Digital Deluxe Edition or the upgrade after the first anniversary has automatically. Now you have both too.

I preordered the digital deluxe edition, then “upgraded” when it was 500 gems so I had the mithrel box 10 xp booster and legacy chest. Not bad, but I’m not complaining as I do get the funky preorder ring.

I think it would be fair to also upgrade those with the no longer used SKU that were not part of the beta stress test. Disclaimer, I have the base version on my main account (the outdated SKU version) but have already bought all those skins from the gem store. I don’t have much use for the mithril box or the experience boosters so I’m not posting this out of self interest.

Yes you will, because you do have the Digital Deluxe edition. That has not changed at all, you’ve just gotten something extra on top of it.

Yes you will, because you do have the Digital Deluxe edition. That has not changed at all, you’ve just gotten something extra on top of it.

Anet hasn’t said that, though. They apparently had to change the SKU for everyone that did beta before, to have that beta slot. They stated instead of changing it back, they set it as the current SKU for Heroic Edition. That doesn’t say it’s on top of, or in addition to. That implies rather directly that it replaced it, which is where some of the concern is coming from. However, since we still had those benefits during the time the beta slot was there, you are still effectively right though, as those bonuses are separate then. But, while I saw mention about the golem banker, I didn’t see anyone mention yet (although I may have missed it?) if they had the the Hero’s Band still on new characters? I don’t have any spare slots atm to check, and takes too much work to move junk from mule to find out >.< If that is still there, then I’d think there should be far less concern.

Also, I do not foresee them ever giving a special just because you previously had the deluxe edition or CE. Those rewards that aren’t given on each new character have already been distributed. No, they’d do it as something new instead.

When I created a new character after the beta char removal, I received the Golem Banker and the Hero’s Band. The items I would expect with a Digital Deluxe Edition. So in that respect, I still have the DD edition.

But I still want confirmation from Anet that I have still Digital Deluxe, thus the ticket.

And I really do appreciate the Heroic Chest.

So I guess Anet is going to let this fade away with a news post that can’t be responded to or allow questions such as why some people got double rewards and or 4k Tomes of Influence which isn’t even a part of the Heroic edition.

Again, Anet I suggest you do the right thing and upgrade everyone that still has a version with the discontinued SKUs. It doesn’t affect me because I already paid cash for those skins, don’t have a use for the mithril box and couldn’t care less about experience boosters. I just think it is the right thing to do.

They don’t usually respond quickly to these types of issues. However, for those of us that it’s important to, we shouldn’t let them forget it.

I received a response from Anet support. My account had Heroic Edition added, rather than replacing Digital Deluxe. I now have both. So, Danikat, you were correct!
