a) Run towards it, and keep running into it
b) Run towards it, and jump into it
c) Run towards it, and use a “movement” skill to propel yourself into it

I compulsively have to jump into it… No idea why.

I died once while jumping through one and I suspect it is because of the jump.

Ride the lightning into it! Do it with style! And sparks.. don’t forget sparks!

Oooo, I added a third c) option… Movement skills! Didn’t think of that one… =D

Sometimes I try to spin mid-air while going through it.

As an Asura, I demonstrate my superiority by dodge-flipping into it—that is, if my Ride the Lightning isn’t on cool down.

I send pet first to make sure path is clear :-)

I use this method to get through, it never fails.

Now put your right foot in
Your right foot out
Right foot in
Then you shake it all about
And then you do the hokey pokey
Turn yourself around
That’s what it’s all about, hey

I just run into Asura gates normally, but for some reason I dodgeroll into the portals on map borders.

As one approaches the ramp one slows down to a walk. Weapon at the ready Asura1 deploys.

Usually B, but sometimes Ride the Lightning.

I’ve done it each of those ways, and never consistently. It depends on the character class and what weapon I have equipped, and which ever way comes to mind first.

Hmmhmm, then I guess I’m not one. Maybe I’ve got a splitted personality? o.o

I always just walk through normally.

I run and jump and try to do some weird body position before slowly fading.

It varies but mostly I just run in normally.

I have used all of the methods noted above and continue to change how I go thru depending on my mood as I approach the gate.

The funniest Gate entry was during Beta when my Asura Engineer Jump/Dodge flipped thru one of the gates at the Lion’s Arch Hub and it did not activate. I jumped right thru the event horizon and plummeted down to the water below ahhhhhhhh.

On another note, wouldn’t it be cool if your action momentum transferred to your arrival on the other side of the wormhole? That would make for some interesting entertainment for others on the connected exit gate.

Which leaves me with one final thought: String a trip-line on the bottom of a gate, set up and lawn chair and enjoy the fun. I could sit there for hours

Dodge+Jump it’s the only way to go!

Usually I try to do a dodge jump or use c) when available (e.g. #3 on Ranger’s GS or #2 on Guardian’s Hammer)

I strip naked, do a /dance, rub my belly (irl) lean back in my chair, and hit the dodge roll key into the gate with my toe.

Sometimes I run towards the gate, stop running before I would enter and run away, than run towards the gate again and finally jump into it

Asura dodge-jump, backwards. Backflip through all the things.

I just launched myself through to DR from LA using the portal gun.

No clue why, but I feel the need to leap at it. One of these days I fully expect to land on my face on the other side….

I habitually dodge roll into gates.

I send my pet in first if it doesn’t explode I go in.

I always jump into them. Just…have to. But I’m going to have to try this one out for fun.

Gonna try to use my engi’s elixir gun retreat: spin around, retreat into portal.

I’m a jumper.

I usually dodge flip in, and I try to time it so that I am upside down right as the loading screen pops up.

Normally I do a jumping dodgeroll into it, haha.

jumping dodge it is

- Backwards dodge (asura) + phase retreat.
- Forwards dodge
- Plain jump
- Stand near to it for a minute before slowly walking through (although the loading screen instantly pops up when you touch it…)

Happened to me in the Mists when my connection went wonky. Went through the gate using the sprint from greatsword for a change… and kept going off the cliff. XD Because the connection was broken, I guess, although I fell and hit the bottom, I didn’t die from the fall, and was running around for a bit. XD
