Usually roll, but somethings jumping.

I run forward and hit jump and dodge at the same time in order to do a mid air complete flip into the gate.

I died once while jumping through one and I suspect it is because of the jump.

It’s because of mario, we have been programmed to jump for the bonus points.

It depends on what I’m going to do during/after the loading screen.

If I’m expecting it to load quickly and therefore planning to sit through the loading screen I’ll run up and jump as I hit the gate so I end up in mid-air when I actually go through.

If I’m expecting a slightly longer load time (basically if I’m going to LA at peak time) I’ll put it on auto-run, point my character at the gate and browse the forum or Facebook or something until I’m through (and sometimes a bit after if there’s actually something interesting.)

Kind of silly because even a “long” load time doesn’t give me time to pick and read one short topic, but I’m impatient like that.

Jumping can be a bad idea though, once I jumped through a gate in LA and for some reason it didn’t trigger and I threw myself off the precipice on the other side.

I do a little jump then imagine my toon spinning down a stripey tunnel like in Austin Powers.

I usually do a movement skill into the gate (my favorites being Ride the Lightning and Swoop) if my current weapon sets will allow it.

If I don’t have one of those types of skills available, I’ll attempt to dodge jump into it. Which usually fails and leaves me either just rolling, or just jumping.

Can you really? I’ve rolled into gates hundreds of times and never dodged it. Didn’t think you could.

Always with a dodge roll or a jump, reminds me of the old US TV show Time Tunnel

Just have to do it. Never know whats on the other side waiting to trip you. :P

c) Run towards it, and use a “movement” skill to propel yourself into it

I compulsively have to jump into it… No idea why.

I have all the races. most do option A.

My Asura though I always do option B

Heartseeker in, blink, shadowstep, or jump…

Every time I enter one I have to pass through customs. I tell you it was a pain trying to explain those 10 stacks of candy the other day.

Approach a gate as an Engineer > Do a 360 turn > Use Rocket Boosts > (optional) Fall into your death because those little evil imps decided to turn the port off at that moment.

If cauterizing a wound, I walk.

If just for travel purposes, run then jump.

I also went right through one of the LA gates during beta and fell over the cliff on the other side.

Normally though, I jump through. (If you’re familiar with the original Star Trek, I often picture Kirk and Spock jumping through the Guardian of Forever in semi-slow motion. Most of my toons jump in a similar fashion.)

When I’m not in a hurry and want to have a little fun, I have a couple alternates:

Elementalist: Staff Fire skill #4 “Burning Retreat”. Face away from gate, and roll through backwards leaving a trail of fire behind (picture the Delorean fiery tire tracks in “Back to the Future”).

Engineer: Rifle skill #5 “Jump Shot” through the gate. (Can also use the EXPERIMENTAL RIFLE for any other character in the same manner).

I would like to Moon Walk into it…

If I have a movement power, I use that. If not, I jump.

Once I tried toggling Walk on before entering a gate, and it felt completely wrong. Like, I was honestly worried my guy wouldn’t be there when the loading screen finished.

A, B and C.

I some times even dagger storm my way into the gates.

I don’t use them, I don’t trust them.

Sometimes i use auto run while i have TP, guild panel, friends list, equipment preview and steam overlay open….i rarely most of the times run past it… And it never ends well xD.
If im not occupied i turn around, dodge and phase retreat backwards, then turn around and jump through it.
Or when im in the mood… I use an experimental portal gun, when im just out of junping range i jump and create portals, then i phase retreat and dodge backwards, and then i enter the portal and dodge at the end, then im in the loading screen : D.

dodge + jump on thief and sometimes shortbow 5
rest is dodge + jump

If I am on my guardian with a greatsword equipped I will “Leap of Faith” into the gate.

I used the “Travel” option once…
This is kinda sad…
