I played a lot of GW1 i had all of the expansions although i never got around to beating Eye of the North there was to much pvp to be had at the time and i already had elite sun spear set. everyone was preparing their account for The GW2 release.

i saw that GW2 was getting an expansion and i was curious about how the game improved over the course of 3 years. so i loaded it up and quickly pre-purchased the expansion. it looked like it was going to add secondary classes so i though whoa thats awesome it will be like GW1 again. i just turned level 80 and i have slowly come to realize its not the 2 classes i wanted it was build diversity and creativity in how i play my class. i wanted to be unique not just in how i looked GW2 has gone really far in making sure i can tweak my characters appearance to my hearts content with dyes and skin unlocks. but the game play of my class gets really repetitive i play a thief i don’t know if its a problem with my class or the game ( i only have 2 characters a thief and a Mesmer) . but i wish i had more skills per weapon i could swap out it just seems like a wasted opportunity to allow players to have some variety in their build also i wish i could change the order of my skills to do combos differently easier. i don’t know i just want to find a way i could have more fun in a great game that i do enjoy quite a lot.

The debate about weapon-based skills is as old as GW2, so I won’t get into that. That horse isn’t going anywhere.

If you’re bored with thief, however, try another class. There’s some pretty significant differences in how many classes play and feel, so you might have to try some out before you find what’s best for you. Elementalist, Engineer, and Revenant have some interesting options for changing your skills on the fly, even within the weapon-based-attacks system.

yeah I forgot that was the reason I put the game down in the first place. I bet that’s a reason a lot of people do stop playing this game. i’m just wondering if this is a ago old debate why has there been no comment from ANET. All the stuff i heard about it was hard to balance.first off that argument just sounds lazy. Side note balance isn’t fun, if I wanted to play a balanced game i would play tic tac toe or paper rock scissors.

At the risk of getting into the thing I said I wouldn’t get into, I actually prefer the new system. I found the old system too cumbersome—I had a lot of choices, but without spending a ton of time researching and learning all my options, I couldn’t make an informed decision. It was overwhelming. I played a Ranger/Ele, and it was lousy, but I liked it and didn’t have time for the rabbit hole that was GW1 strategy. With GW2, I had fewer choices, but I could focus more on how best to use the choices I have.

Some people prefer the strategic depth of GW1, while others prefer GW2, just as some people prefer trading card games to board games. Both are perfectly valid preferences.

And I’d disagree with your assessment that balance isn’t fun. Not every combination has to be equally good for there to be balance, but too much imbalance spoils competition.
