Q:

I visit different communities as Reddit, GW2Forums, Guru, etc.

The game has been out for enough time for most people to have an opinion formulated. I have heard a lot of good things about this game, but i have also heard a lot of bad things.

So i would like to know, after you have played for a month and some:

How interested are you in keep playing this game?

Please keep the answers short and simple.

I can safely say the game still piques my interest, however, there have been a lot of changes that I just find unnecessary. Such as Oct, 7th’s patch. Some of the changes are “OK” at best, but everything else that I’ve read in the patch feels like complete, and utter garbage. It’s hard to believe ArenaNet is taking anything seriously here, and it feels as if they themselves don’t even bother asking the community what people like, and people dislike about classes. To me, it sounds like they’re just taking a shot in the dark, they don’t have a clue what’s going on around them, and make these poor decisions and changes within the game. For example, they changed the Guardians feel completely, I’m someone who just goes all out, and plays the Warrior class, but I do have a secondary (alt) character, and since I’m one who enjoys being up front and bashing things to death, the Guardian of course is my second choice. When I went from 2 days ago, to yesterday, I was just kind of shocked. My 33 Guardian felt completely useless while wielding a Greatsword. I get the idea they “Picture” how a Guardian “should” be. But they didn’t really get any input from users out there, and just made a change, and are saying “Deal with it, your input doesn’t matter, it’s what WE want”.

I usually play Guild Wars 2 with my girlfriend on a daily basis, probably only for 2-3 hours, so not very long each day, because we have our own things to do. Everything is done “OK” in Guild Wars 2, and it’s only been out for a short period of time, but as many have said before, the game feels almost unfinished, and much, much more should have been added before the release, such as a wider selection of skills, and or weapon choices. I find it odd, that melee classes have so very few melee weapons. Where’s the Halberds, Bardiche’s, and Polearms in general? In the most useless spot in the entire game, underwater… How often is everyone fighting underwater? I’d say not even 25% of the game has you underwater.

Nearing level 80 finally (level 72 Warrior), same with my girlfriend (only a Ranger), and well, we find ourselves ever since passing level 50, getting a little tiresome of this game. I already know half my Guild quit already, and are either playing something else, or just waiting for something significant to change in Guild Wars 2. One of by buddies has reached level 80 within 3 days, and all throughout those 3 days he kept saying he was bored, and that there was nothing to do. Of course, me and him usually come from action based games such as Monster Hunter, so, when there’s no actual “Action” or “skill” (not saying there isn’t, it’s just the “feeling”), it does get dull.

I’ll continue to keep playing Guild Wars 2, at least until there’s something else out there worth my time. Who knows, if ArenaNet plays their cards right, and actually does make needed changes, and makes an attempt to ASK the community before making “not so wise” decisions, and keep up to date every month and such, I could very well be around for a while.

Anyhow, that’s my voice of opinion on how interested I still am in Guild Wars 2.

I enjoy the game still but am starting to get a little bit bored myself with it. Right now, I am making new characters once one hits level 80 due to the major lack there of content at the end of the time. Right now the end game content includes kill 3 dragons, do a couple of dungeons, or do one of the few non broken meta events in the orr maps, followed by sitting on your hands until they all reset. There is more end game content from completing a final fantasy game.

Also while each patch fixes one broken event, it seems to break 1-2 more and from this has no progressed much of anywhere since the day of release.

Still very interested; more interested all the time. I’m interested to see what’s waiting for me in the parts of the map I haven’t been to yet, the puzzles I haven’t done yet, the dungeons I haven’t explored, and classes I haven’t played … and when that’s all done I’m interested in seeing what new stuff they’ll be giving us with updates and expansions.

This is still very much the game I look forward to playing every day.

I’m interested in staying and playing into the future.

But the game has some glaring issues in a lot of different areas that need addressing and imho need adrressing quickly.

I shan’t go into specifics of the issues,as a quick glance over forum threads will tell the story.

At this rate however,it just isn’t enticing at all for me to log in and play more than a few days a week and for more than a hour or two.

Would like to have a more smoother experience, but that would required a new rig lol

Anyway, it’s a very fun game, which manages to keep me interested in playing it on the long run.

I’m losing interest by the day. I still love the graphics, the music, the towns and the crafting system. The personal story is so-so.

I hate the jumping games, but if that were the only problem, then I would still consider the game to be wonderful.

The biggest problem is the need for big groups to do some events. It’s a wall I just can’t get over. At the times of day I can play, it means I just can’t do some events.

I know that the GW2 team says that MMORPGs are supposed to be social games. Fine, but there is a difference between being social and being forced to be social. I’m willing to play in groups, but I often find there is no-one else around.

I’m afraid, therefore, unless things change, that I won’t be playing for much longer. GW1 was much better than this game. It had a much more coherent content, and if there was no-one else around, you could still gather up your heroes and some henchmen and go out and have fun.

I truly believe that people jumped in to this game and started playing in like other MMOs. I started playing in head-start, I play 5 to 6 hours a day, 10 to 12 hours on the weekends, I have several alts, and none are even close to level 80 yet. My highest is 55.

The only way I see it being possible to have multiple level 80s is if you optimize your play so that you are gaining maximum XP per hour, and that just isn’t how this game is meant to be played.

Wondering how many of the people who aren’t interested anymore actually just went roaming around and looking for secret areas, doing events and escort missions as they run across them.

That’s where this game really shines. It’s so easy to get sidetracked if you just go wandering. Next thing you know 2 or 3 hours has passed and you’re wondering how you ended up on the opposite side of the map from where you were headed.

Still very interested, a bit to my surprise, since it is has been 6 weeks now, and I have become rather jaded over the years.

Things that keep me playing are the beautifull world, still enough to aim for and the combat which I keep enjoying (though I certainly hope they will add to the pool of skills in the future).

Things that worry me a bit: the fact that so many DE’s and Champion bosses come without a chest with at least something interesting in itg ( a green item at minimum with a small chance on cool stuff) make me sortoff not want to bother with DE’s anymore, since grinding karma and xp just is not enough incentive for me. I still do enjoy the ones where I get to fight lots of mobs though, also because they at least yield loot (as long as you do not hit the DR).

Also not looking forward to Orr, the risen-infested zones are just cumbersome and depressing imo. Yet I do like the chance of higher level loot/mats so I guess I will have to go there.

So, tweaks in the loot and grind department are definately needed if they want me to play this 6 months from now.

I am still very interested and I used to think I have grown out of MMORPGs after my previous disappointments (that game with laser swords and that other game where you craft lots of war). I have been playing since August 28th now and got a level 80 Engineer and level 73 Mesmer so far. I do not play continuously as in don’t do breaks or play other games though. So sometimes I am just 1-2 hrs. per day.

I know however that the game is still in a lot of needs of adjustments and some bugs tend to be really annoying like Phase Retreat being often a ticket to go underground (literally) or bugged events and overtuned storyline missions. I am also not a big fan of Orr. I generally loathe undeads in games and I wish my Engineer has a portable nuke. It would make sense to give them one in their bomb kit even if it would just be for Orr.

Enjoying the game greatly 2 80’s and stopping there for now to focus on my 80 Mesmer.

Some good:

-mesmer

-armor sets

-enjoy the dungeons

-event farming is kinda fun

-dragon encounters are fun if not a little too easy

-love the world, art etc..

Some bad:

-there are times i feel there isn’t much to do

-finding groups for specific dungeons can be quite challenging for a game so young (lfmTA EM!!)

-some parts of the game feels hard for the sake of being hard, i think challenging content is great but things feel wonky.. i.e. dungeon bosses easier then trash, any mob in the game that knocks you down then beats you until dead without a chance to get up… (the skelks in AC)

-what ever happened to a persistent world? All the loading screens really take away from immersion

-mounts/flightpaths > waypoints.. I would love to have some mounts to farm right about now!

-this game needs more tools, lfg mostly, also a way to know where events are going down like dragon timers or maybe just the ability to see all the events happening on the map… Warhammer and more recently Rift did this pretty well

-the world doesn’t feel dynamic

-map completion: I really feel like the completion rewards are nice but I definitely feel vista’s take away from this. For me, a recovering altoholic, I don’t want to go back and get get map completions on alts.. yet I feel I have to because the rewards for completing the zones are too good to skip so it creates a weird feeling where I just don’t want to play alts.

All this said, I’m not trying to say I don’t enjoy the game.. there’s much left for me to do and see. I just think some design decisions are taking away from how epic Tyria could be and it feels like about half the population disappeared at almost exactly one month after release : (

I don’t really know what to say anymore. I’ve gone from being ludicrously euphoric during the beta weekends to absolutely unenthrawled after release. Honestly my vocabulary doesn’t have a word for how I feel about the game currently.

I have an 80 Elementalist and Guardian, a Ranger and Mesmer around the 30-35 mark and played all the other professions to at least level 10.

Looking at the overall state of the game from all the various aspects all I can see is imbalance, poorly executed concepts and down right broken mechanics and events.

It saddenkittenreatly to say that I’ll no longer be playing actively, if I wasn’t our guild leader I’d likely be uninstalling until ArenaNet can get to grips with the fly ridden corpse their formerly brilliant and beautiful creation has become.

So here’s handing the body back to all the fan boys and mindless defenders of the game in its current state, the taste of carrion is more than I can handle.

I’m still very interested in the game. I leveled my Guardian to 80 which was fun the whole way. Once I hit 80 I maxed my chef/weaponsmith, then switched chef for armorsmith and maxed that out. I’ve been using those 2 to make my Draconic Explorer’s set so now my magic find is through the roof. I spend my time in game going to various zones trying to get zone completions and yet because of scaling I’m still finding challenges.

The fun in the game for me is immersing myself in the zone. For instance I was in Malchor’s leap and just through reading map chat I found a group of people that were trying to push the world event to completion. Unfortunately is was bugged and we couldn’t get it to go past a certain point. Yes the game has bugs and yes they kitten me off but every game has bugs and I’m not just going to quit GW2 just because a few of them get in the way.

That’s not true at all. There’s plenty of people who love what the game has to offer but are concerned and insulted by promises being broken. Some people whine for the sake of it, yet there’s always people who offer legitimate criticism that has nothing to do with wanting the game to be something it isn’t meant to be.

Interest is wavering. I’m not seeing a good focus towards entertainment and fun values; rather a battle vs bots that I happen to be stuck in the middle of.

Bugs being seemingly set aside in favor of “balance”. Balance seemingly being done via “spreadsheet values” vs real game play experience.
I laughed at the Mesmer nerfs yesterday. It left me wondering “what the..?” Already took me longer to kill on the mesmer vs my main thief; and now it’s slower? Guess I wasn’t playing it “right”; I assumed “play it your way” was true though. Weird.

The DR remaining is a concern as well. It’s a socialist system that rewards the entitled mindset – “Don’t strive for better. Just sit back and wait for your rewards to come with time.” – I do not care for that at all. I like to be able to work for and strive for better.
DR is like Data Caps – I may never hit the cap; but it being there is a detriment to the service quality and experience. ISPs with Data Caps are considered to be of the lowest quality providers that don’t invest in their networks to handle customer demands. Similar in how I feel while simply trying to play the game. DR is always looming over head.

I’ll echo arjeidi’s comment. Last patch was a red flag. I personally think a rogue mesmer cast Misdirection on the game.

This is a perfect example of why you probably named your account what it is.

The stupidest thing someone can do is read patch notes, see that something isn’t fixed, and assume that it’s not being worked on. A lot of “problems” with this game are still being worked on and the solution simply isn’t ready, a main one being the bot problem. It’s also funny when people think they know the solution and that there are no consequences to it.

As for ArenaNet not asking…. They’re the most active gaming company out there at the moment. You never hear anything from other gaming companies while playing the game. People also automatically assume that because they don’t reply it means they don’t read. In fact, a lot of the employees whose job is to read these probably don’t have the authority or knowledge to answer a question or complaint or suggestion on the spot. They pass it along to the developers. They also asked us a ton during the betas and communicated with the community a lot during that time.

I didn’t bother to read the rest since, well, honestly I was humored by this post because so many people are like that and it’s quite annoying honestly.

As for how interested I am in the game… I’m loving every second of it and bug the heck out of my buddy for him to log in and join me. The game’s great, and better than I expected.

It is an okay game, it is not the next gen mmo they claimed it to be. They put a lot of thought into the areas in terms of a level up process, the game is more fun when not max level as it is when you are max level. I find WvW is not as fun as RvR was in DAOC which seems to be the inspiration for WvW. Repetition without consequence or purpose probably appeals to a very small market of the MMO fan base.

I better not be too negative, as my post will be moved to some suggestion sub forum that nobody reads and I will get another infraction for not being a total fanboy. :P

Still very interested. My highest toon is only lvl 61, so I’ve still have lots of unexplored areas. Plus I’m also leveling an Engineer, a Guardian, a Warrior and a Thief. As well as leveling a leathersmith, armorsmith and weaponsmith. Haven’t even touched the casters yet.

I figure I’ll be playing this game for a couple of years, at least, on the current content alone. Not even counting whatever ANet adds later on. Limited playtime due to working full time and other home stuff precludes the content locust playstyle so many here seem to affect.

Anyone remember SW:ToR or D3? While this thread has much negativity, compare it to those two and it’s much, much more positive. And it has a huge metacritic rating to boot!

I’m very hopeful for the future. I love this game, sometimes I find myself wondering what to do (I would always have something to do if it were easier to get parties for dungeons), but I think I’m good for at least another 2-3 months of this game.

Not very, This game I was told was a PVP game. I left wow for this game since wow is about as balanced as a elephant on one side of a teeter totter and a mouse on the other, this game is not much better at all. Figured pvp in this game would be way more balanced since its based around pvp but nope.

also there is no small scale pvp smallest is 16 v 16 ? sorry but i don’t like getting zerged by 4 people every time i try to defend some thing.

WvWvW is OK but barely all it is, is just 2 mass army’s that AoE one another from ranged does not seem like pvp to me.

just my 2 cents.

I don’t know why people feel like they need to “move on”… you don’t. You CANNOT quit GW2 since you never have to pay a monthly fee for it. Take a break and come back whenever you want. Or don’t take a break, and play a little less.

“Too bad, bye” is a terrible attitude.

Very interested, but if the botting problem isn’t dealt with soon, I’ll be playing it alone.

And, yes, this game is still worlds better than SWTOR. The endgame is a bit restricted here, but at least there is an endgame…
