Is it better than Armor skin idea?
Did you get more money from outfits ?
I know that people want only Armor skins because you can take parts and make your own unique armor skin.

We can have both. Why does it always have to be one or the other? We’ve gotten both lately. In fact two new sets of armor were put in the game for us to earn IN game.

Also, people don’t ONLY want armor skins. I LOVE outfits. I never have to use Transmutation Charges. I can dye them all and I can wear them while I am leveling new characters, etc etc. Its great.

Both are wonderful for their own reasons.

I would like to see more dye options for outfits. Having just 4 slots to work with is very limited.

I mostly use outfits when I’m leveling, then switch to armor skins when I get the set I’ll be using permanently. I do like having them though in case I want to use them (as evidenced by the fact I have all but 3 of them.)

Yea. I agree with others that we should have both. I love the mix and match of armor sets but outfits are just amazing for leveling. I don’t have to look like a cobbled together clown!

I have a sort of love-hate relationship with outfits.

I love how you can use them in any character with no transmutation stones. I usually create all my characters with an end look in mind, and at least one was created specifically around an outfit look (charr thief, using the butcher like cook outfit), and another (human necro) that I usually run around in the last halloween outfit. I like being able to just change the look of a character with a single switch. That’s in general the part I love about them.

However, there’s the other side. I love to mix and match, all my characters (including the ones I use outfits on on their alternate looks) have mixed sets, and I hate how I love how most of an outfit looks.. but with a little detail I don’t like that ruins it overall for me.

To use some examples, I’d love to use the ceremonial plate outfit on my guardian, specially the shoulders… but I hate the thing around the neck and the puffy sleeves, so those two details are a deal breaker for me. Both the fancy winter and noble count outfits would look perfect for my norn mesmer (using the heritage armor now), but it would mean I’d have to give up the harlequin mask that has been an integral part of the look I intended for it since the beggining. I’d really love the raiment of the lich outfit for me human necromancer… if there was a way to replace the chest area.

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

I bought all the outfit instead of the armor skins.

  • Armor skins cost t-charges to use. Outfits do not.
  • Outfits can be used by all professions. Armor skins cannot.
  • It is cheaper to buy 1 outfit(700 gems) than to buy 3 armor skins(2400 gems).

I sort of prefer the outfit method, but the lack of control in customizing them can be a little frustrating. If they added more toggles like toggling off belts, and added more dye channels then it would be a superior system imo. Also, as it stands there’s only a few outfits that are worth having right now.

That being said, I enjoy having new armor skins added with ways we can get them in-game such as the new carapace armor sets.

I’d like one change – the ability to mix and match armor helmets with outfits. (i.e. leave helm on, but check off outfit headpiece, or vis-versa.

Since outfits have separate head pieces, this must be possible.

This.

I still have my eyeball on a few BL armor sets, waiting for the right character inspiration for them. I’ll admit to shamelessly snapping up outfits that look decent because of their on-again/off-again flexibility.

I bought a new account and I’m leveling some chars there while waiting for the expansion. I had to buy and gift it an outfit. Those noob armors (shudder) and my one lonely transmutation charge are a bad mix.

Now they rock in something stylish and my eyes don’t have ‘fashion twitches’ whenever they get a new piece of armor from a drop.

I bought a bunch of outfits on my old account to switch out looks just for fun.

I like having both armor and outfits. As another poster stated, I have found outfits to be great for leveling characters, as you don’t need to use a transmutation charge to use an outfit. Once a new character hits 80 and you can deck them out in exotics, then you can use transmutation charges. On the other hand, it would be great to mix and match outfit pieces and dye them more elaborately, but in my opinion I’m ok with how it works now. That being said, I would like to see WAY, WAY more armor/armor skins added to the game. TONS MORE. The current selection is stale, and most lower level pieces are just boring or ugly or don’t take dye colors as nicely as the higher level and gem store pieces.

I like outfits because I can change my look without changing armor stats without costing me transmutation charges. Now if only they remember each dye layout rather than a single one so I can change quickly.

This, this, a thousand times this.

As much as I’d like to be able to mix and match pants/shoulders/coat/etc. from outfits, I understand that that isn’t so easy for outfits that were designed and released as a one-piece. However as Naevius said the headgear (as far as I know?) is all optional, and it shouldn’t require any additional artwork changes (I’d think?) to allow equipment headgear to show with outfit body, or vice versa. There may be some clipping issues with some outfits but that’s okay!

This. Although, I would really love it if we had an option to show armor head skins. I’d so love my necro in the Noble Count, with the green glowy eye armor skin.

Having the armor headpiece show in an outfit would be an improvement. I would love to have my necro with her Demon Mask and bright yellow eyes and that new Archive outfit. Very evil mage looking imo.
