How many characters do ppl have?
Create as many as you want to play. Who cares how many others have?
I saw a signature on GW2RP’s forum with like 50 characters on it. I was a bit taken aback, but I think I only have 6, because that’s all the money I’ve put into expanding my troupe. That being said, I’ve also deleted like four different 80’s.
I say if you want fifteen, go for it!
I agree with AliceKaye.1903. Do what is good and fun for you. There are some with more than 64 character now. Use to be 64 but increase when HoT add more slot. Me I have I think 18. I don’t really count.
I have 13 and I’ll have 14 with the Revenant. I’ve heard of people having 64.
ANet may give it to you.

22 at the moment, expanding when I can Having another ‘face on the job’ and personality is just nice. Gearing that new character + storymode and leveling, is also fun. Gives some ‘new’ sense of progression, instead of just playing the same char over and over. Then I play the game a lot so playing sylvari elementalist, or norn elementalist are two different mini games for me within guild wars 2 xD
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
I used to have 12 level 80s. 2 Rangers, 2 Guardians, 3 Warriors, and 1 of the others. Currently, I have 10. 1 of each profession at level 80 and 2 bank characters. Soon to be 11 if you count the Revenant.
I’ll also agree with AliceKay, though. If you want to do 15 characters, go for it.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Currently at 7, I’m only missing a warrior. Will get expanded for at least revenant, though I usually only have one of each class
20 (including a character holding a name I want and a key runner), but I plan on buying another 3 character slots soon.
Go for as many characters as you want. Having more characters will mean you’ll probably have less money overall (because you spend more gearing them out and spend time levelling). For me, the extra gold spend and less time earning is well worth it- I love levelling new characters and designing what they’ll look like at 80.
18 lvl 80’s , 9 with 100% map
- 3 warriors, Norn(X), Norn(X),Charr
- 3 necro’s Sylvari,Charr(X),Human(X)
- 3 rangers Sylvari(X),Norn,Charr
- 3 guardians Sylvari(X),Norn,Human
- 2 eles Human(X), Human
- 2 mesmers Sylvari(X),Norn
- 1 thief Sylvari(X)
- 1 engineer Norn
- -one free slot-
6 Norns, 5 Sylvari, 4 Humans, 3 Charr: 18 totals
(X)= world completion
All max sized. in PvP you need small char, in PvE you need big ones, preferbly with sclerite backs, Spinal Blades, Black or White feather wings or Zephyrite Backs.
Just fill the screen, with The Mean Machine
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

I have 34, IF there’s a char slot discount like last year then I’ll be having 42… Make as many as you want. Each of mine serve a purpose, daily gathering, daily jp, dungeon specific chars, wvw specific chars, my conditions necro atm is used to carry all the infused rings from fractals but is still used for gathering.
Surprisingly enough, you can tell the difference between one profession of different races. I have a Norn warrior on my main account. On my alt account, I started a Charr warrior. The 2 handled so differently and I liked the Charr so much better that I have retired my Norn and made, then leveled to 80, a Charr warrior.
ANet may give it to you.
I have 15. All are L80 and eight have world completion. I have two spare slots waiting for HoT and it is so tempting to fill them now. I don’t do PvP or dungeons but I enjoy muddling about in the game exploring and losing my way or falling off vistas I have done a dozen times already.
I love all of my characters and have fun dressing them up. Each one feels different – my Asura guardian makes me laugh whereas my Norn guardian seems very serious.
I just wish I had more bank space. There is never enough when you have multiple characters who need to store crafting gear.
I’m at 8 (one per class). I’m going for 9th with revenant and I won’t be going for more until a new class.
Simply, because I like to have my things completed and more united, especialy when most of things are account-bound + I personaly don’t see point in having tons of characters, while I want to enjoy every mode and content in this game. I would be enough with one char for all of that, but this game supports alts and I want to have access to every class.
Everything comes to personal taste of course. I just felt like sharing my number and reason behind it, after I saw that most of people mentioned 15+ numbers.
Do what makes you happy. : )
I have 6. I only really actively play 3 of them, though. And I have a whole bunch that I’ve deleted/remade over and over again, trying out different classes/races/storylines/etc.
8 80s and a couple of low levels on an alt account. I’ll have 9 80s if I get HoT or maybe before, if I decide to make a new character. I don’t know why I’d make another alt though, since I have every class at 80; why would I have 2 of the same class?

MX Brown Quickfire XT | Commander Shaussman [AGNY]- Fort Aspenwood
I’ve 9 and I will stick with it.
1 each prof is enough imo, but I could understand why people would want several chars for each prof, but only for RP reasons.
But I think it is a waste of time / money but I’m not the one paying so I don’t care^^.
PS: at some point in GW1 i Had 3 necros at the same time just because I wanted to do all the story of each chapter as a necro.
25 toons at level 80. All geared in exotics minimum. I have a set of most useful ascended trinkets, and swap those in on the character I’m currently playing.
I’ll be adding one or two Revenants in the future. I have so many because I like to make different looks. Need to show off all the bling I collected!
(edited by Pretty Pixie.8603)
23… and counting…
Check the siggy
I’m a mainoholic (rare species), I have one main at 80 and an alt at lvl 2 that carries my extra crap.
8, all 80 except my necro who I only use to open bags because I HATE HIM WITH A BURNING PASSION. He was the first character I created too…
I’ve got an empty slot for a rev, when the time comes.
39 chars including the two chars I have waiting to turn into revs on launch.

13 and probably 14 when HoT hits.
Got 13x 80s and a spare slot for a revenant. 10 of which have world completions and working on the other 3.
But I’ll be mainly just playing one, once those 3 have world completions. Then doing the same with the revenant.
Although I’m in the process of redoing the professions so that they are just on 2 characters.
So no intention of having more than 14 and 14 is only because of 1 of each class as human and then 1 of each of the other races.
So many that I can’t accurately answer this right now….. I create characters with themes in mind. Heck, I have a Warrior just for running during Wintersday! He wait’s and holds all the Wintersday themed items and stuff.
17 and counting.
I have one for each current profession… and hold an empty slot for key farm or new spec… I have so many insta 20 scrolls and lvl up tomes… If I want to really roll something else… I dig up the gold and pick up 800 gems and buy a new slot.
6 currently. Going to have a revenant for 7th.
Just made my 21st to try out elementalist again.
My old one has been a mule for a very, very long time due to my giving up on her around level 55 due to some change they made to ele damage output like 2 years ago that made it no longer fun.
My 20th was my first try at engineer in 3 years due to their previously being forced to have hobosack backpacks while using a kit. Now that there is no hobosack I was anxious to give it a try. It’s pretty fun, but I find myself just using the flamethrower kit all the time due to its damage output. Hey, it saves some coin not having to buy any actual weapons every few levels.
19 is a T-Charge Run slot
Many of the rest are slight variations in appearance or color schemes.
Some of them have also dropped into mule status.
My preferences for what I go exploring the world with changes, so I like to have many options available to me that I’ve already leveled up and outfitted with gear and a unique style designed for them.
I plan to pick up 4 or so more slots when they go up for sale next. That is, if they do not put a limit on how many can be purchased like they have decided to put on everything they put on sale lately. :\

Only 30 char in 3 years. But I’m sure I will reach the 64 during the next 3 years!

I’ve an Asuran warrior (level 3, due to some stupidity of me), who is my SAB jumper… She’s not been outside Rata Sum in almost 3 years :p
Beside her, I have 27 more and if character slots ever go on sale again, I’ll get at least 2 more for a nice round 30.
I have 22 slots, 20 in use. A bit over half are 80s (all classes, a couple duplicates for the classes I find really fun). I’m leveling a thief specifically to go perma-daredevil.
But after we get mastery tracks a lot of my 80s are going to fill in their map completion. RIght now I’m holding off on most of my 80s because the XP just evaporates ATM.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Yah. If people haven’t done map completion yet, they might want to wait. All the exp your level 80 earns now is going to waste. If you do map completion when the expansion starts on your level 80, then that exp should (hopefully) go towards the mastery line.
ANet may give it to you.
It depends, something over 20 on my main but if you count my alts too then a few more ^.^

Aren’t they changing the map rewards when HoT comes out anyway? (I thought I remembered it being mentioned). I’m assuming that the tomes will give me exp anyway and Im not sure I’ll want to be doing map completion when there’s new maps to explore…
11 (13 later)
7 (9) Sylvari – one of every class
1 Asura – Thief
1 Char – Warrior
1 Norn – Ranger
1 Human – Elementalist
I started with 8 slots (one for each profession) + 1 for key farming. With HoT I got 2 more slots, and as I really like Sylvari I will have one of each prof. as Sylvari when I buy 2 more slots.
I came by my fondness for Sylvari (and Human as byproduct) in jumping puzzles, since I have a hard time judging jumps with Asura / Char / Norn
I have like 30 characters. I don’t know exactly because after 24 I stopped counting. lol

Yes, they are changing the map rewards, but when I played in Orr in the beta, it was a reward for doing X number of events. I got an extra T6 mat after playing in there a while.
Tomes don’t give you exp after level 80. They only give exp up to 80. After 80 they only give a spirit shard.
As to not doing map completion in the old area when the expansion comes, you have to do content in the old area to progress the Tyrian Masteries such as Precursor crafting and the Pack commander mastery.

Time to hold my hand up and admit to being an altaholic.
28 characters on my main account and 2 spare slots at the moment, one used for key farming and the other waiting for a Revenant (assuming I don’t give in and make another Ranger before HoT release) 9 level 80s, I don’t have an Engineer yet, but I do have 2 guardians and 2 rangers.
8 on my Ironman account, one for each class, play it until dead then re roll. If i do get any to 80 I also want them to have world completion as well.
2 on my F2P account that I started purely to see if I had any problems using the SMS thing on a landline or if my IP address gave problems (I have heard some of us in the uK can have wandering address, fortunately mine seems to be working fine). Having started them it has me wondering just how far I can get with all the restrictions on the F2P account, at the moment my far vision is looking for a legendary. Don’t know if I’ll ever get there but the journey is the fun for me.
How many characters should you make, as many as you want and can afford the slots.
I have like 30 characters. I don’t know exactly because after 24 I stopped counting. lol
You can see how many slots/slots in use you have when logging in.

8, one of each profession at level 80. Soon to be 9 once the Revenant comes out.
I have 15 characters, all but 2 of which are at 80. Make as many as you want, there’s nothing wrong with it.

I have 11 accounts. And across all those accounts I have totally 151 characters. Nearly all of them are level 80. I still have 6 empty character slots for HoT in couple accounts.
Yeah, I should get a life.

You know, I do wonder why it is anyone would have more than 10 characters. You’ll have a male and female of each race, and you’ll also have at least one of every class. If you want a different playstyle, just buy a different gear set.
I guess I can understand having a key farmer, or extra slots to farm silver doubloons…

When I first started, I couldn’t imagine having more than one character.
I actually forgot to include my other account which adds a measly four more characters to my score but I have no love for them, poor things, so they are easily dismissed.
Sinope, that’s amazing however there is a player who posted a while back that he had 30 accounts. I hope he comes on here. I would love to know how many characters he has.

I have multiple characters because I hate having to change build, gear etc. Every character is a seperate set up and I associate that build with that character. Even on games with equipment management and talent options I still had different characters for different builds. I also find some builds suit some races better, no one but my Assuran engineer would use the rifle, they find getting blown backwards a little silly, she finds it fun. I guess it partly depends on how much you roll play your toons and how much they are just there to get you to end game goodies.
5, play 2 mains on the reg, might add a rev to that when HoT lands.
As an avid gamer with a full-time job I can’t invest more timesink without missing out on playing other games.
Screw that.
As much as I dig this game it’s no way near good enough to make me sacrifice other gaming pleasures in order to have a dozen 80’s.That would bore me to death.

If that is even remotely true you don’t need a life, you need help. In saying these type of threads normally devolve into little more than kittening competitions and false claims of having a thousand toons with max loots.
(edited by fireflyry.7023)
At the moment I have 7 characters, however I only play one of them, all the rest are either chars I made only to get the pvp champ titles and then never played again, or characters I made to get more gifts of exploration and again, never played again after I was done.
Out of my just over 3k hours, about 2.4k I believe we’re played on my warrior and the rest was farming stuff that I couldn’t do with my warrior, not enjoying myself at all. I play only one char because I think it is much more convenient and easy to gear up to ascended, not to mention I hate to play any content that is not played on a level 80 with world completion, it just makes life a lot easier for me.
