Hey everyone

I was curious as to see whats the % of gold players have spent on the Mystic Forge in attempts to get any form of Precursor…

So far this week I have invested into…
113g in Carrion Krait Slayers ~1 Dusk
79g in Carion Krait Slayers ~1 Dusk
30g in Exotic Greatswords ~1 Dusk
200g (Friends gold) in Carrion Krait Slayers ~1 Dusk
and 300g in Carrion Krait Slayers ~1 Dusk ~1 Dawn

I have since pulled out 5 Dusks and 1 Dawn.

Still do not know what to do with all the gold…
Most likely just forge for more and or salvage Globs for Magic Find % and Money Back.

I have only started forging recently and it seems like a really great way to make gold, although people disagree with the method because of RNG.

All in all I seem to be seeing a near 80% – 90% chance of getting a Precursor when I try to get one at least.

How about you ?

Zero gold in the Mystic Forge. I’ve gotten my precursors all from drops.

Mystic forge loves me I guess, I have only been playing for 56 days with 845 hours of gameplay, so maybe once I have 200 or so days my luck will be the same as most o.o…

Around 1600 hours since headstart. I do spend most of my time in world vs. world.

I have yet to bother with WvW or PvP xD

0 gold in Mystic Forge.
0 precursors from drop.
400g on TP for the Tooth of Frostfang.

Edit: 1599 hours since game start.

Probably less than 100g. I learned fairly early on in life that lotteries were not a good investment of time or money. The MF is just a lottery in the middle of LA—nothing to see there.

Mystic forge: 6-700g = 0 precursors.

Open world farming: 3,685 hours of which most spent in dungeons and different farming event = 0 precursors

Trading Post: Howl, Tooth of Frostfang and Leaf of Kudzu, all bought with money made from the dungeons/events.

1 Chaos Gun from random champion bag in Cursed Shore.
~200 gold in mystic forge, nothing.

~1,400 rare longbows for Leaf of Kudzu.
Under 100 rare axes for Tooth of Frostfang.
~2,400 rare greatswords and no dusk or dawn yet.

This isn’t counting the rares I got from the forge and threw back in it.

I average just 200 or so rare slayers for my dusks, throwing back in the exotics as well.

ive played on and off since beta weekends and i only have 500ish hours (oh and what’s a precursor?)

I’ve never gotten anything RNG good out of the Forge (Mystic Salvage Kits otoh are a guaranteed result and so worth it). I’ve barely touched it thanks to a few early attempts returning trash. I’ve also never gotten a precursor and not too many exotics despite heavy game play since launch.

Mimizu, a precursor is a weapon used as the base for a legendary weapon. For instance if you want to make the Minstrel, then on top of all the massive amounts of mats and exploration you must gather, you must also get hold of the Bard. Precursors drop more rarely than hen’s teeth, or can come from being lucky with tossing random rares or exotics in the Forge. Or you can just farm the gold and buy one off the TP from someone else who got super lucky.

Well over 3.5k hours.
0 precursor drops.
Several from the forge.

edit: I did get 5-6 Ebon blades, and 2 Golden Swords which look just like the pre’s but aren’t worth nearly as much. RNG is RNG sometimes those are Pre’s as in the OPs case and sometimes they aren’t as in mine.

Been playing since Beta. Almost 2000 hours, uncounted rares and exotics thrown into Mystic Forge, and not a single precurser drop or creation

No reason to really be mad at OP. I wish I had his luck. And I am sure he is grateful. RNG is RNG.

Over the life of the game, maybe as many as 20 4x rares attempts and five 4x exotics tries.

In the last 6 months, zero. After researching legendaries more there weren’t any I thought looked good enough to chase after. So I’m just biding my time waiting for a second wave and to see if the process is different to acquire those.

A good thing to remember is that if everyone got precursors as often as the OP has they wouldn’t be 400-800 gold.

I went and spent around another 200 gold on greatswords, still no precursor. I guess this is why people hate RNG of this magnitude. I really wish they put something like a chance to get ticket piece(s) when using the forge, and you could trade in 1,000 for a precursor. This would have given players with poor luck a feeling that they didn’t just waste all their money, and those that got lucky would still get a cheap precursor.

I have 0 Legendary weapons. I bought The Bard with a buy order of 40 gold long, long ago, and after than I had Storm drop from a trash mob during a Scarlet Invasion in Sparkfly Fen, but I haven’t built either of them into legendaries. I keep working up my crafting skills to 500 (eats into my tier 6 mats for Gifts of Might and Magic) and haven’t had the will to do Cadacus Manor over and over again for the gift of Dungeon-Grinding. I have most of the other mats. Just waiting to see if they can be applied towards new legendaries and skins that might appeal to me more.

Colossus – 4 random exotics
Storm – 7 random exotics
Zap – got it with 4 rare swords, second try after 4 random shields

Got them all while doing mystic forge daily. They have been sitting in storage for months until I recently decided to make juggernaut so i sold others to finance it.

I never actively pursued precursor.

2400 hours played. Negligible investment in the Forge — <20G using prices from late 2012. Zero precursors via any means.

I am relatively a Gambling person an any MMO I ever play once I get End game there just doesn’t seem to be anything good to do once you get everything, just farm gold and afk in an major city all day.

Looking at this entire thread I can now see how much luck I have been having with RNG compared to veterans and such :s

“Having fun” variety from player to player, some people enjoy WvW, PvP or Spending their time in Lions Arch making friend and having a good time, I gamble the forge for the Thrill it gives you when you almost get a Pre but it turns out to be a Golden Sword or one of the many Exotics that look like Dusk.

I only play an do dungeons with one of my in game friends aside from that I just stand around Lions Arch forging, but currently I am going for my 6th Dusk after I farm up some mats (Doesn’t wanna sell Dusk due to Listing price and -10% Final Sale Fee)

I enjoy Forging, Buying 5000 Globs of Ecto, Salvaging them and raising my luck while losing on on 10 gold per 250 Stack, it just gives me something to do.

When it comes to gold, I really do not care much at all for it, I most likely will never sell them for gold or make Legendaries, It’s more or less a means to hoard items and keep gambling.

If you’re not going to do anything with them go and send a dusk my way. I’m growing tired of gambling the money I make every day, but I’ve invested so much in it that stopping without getting one would be a waste. I just hope I get one before I reach 4,000 greatswords bought.

If I had to guess.
1000~1500 gold in weapon skins. Including attempts for precursor (which I still don’t have)
200~300 gold in various armours, sigil’s and runes.
400 ~500 gold in misc stuff like dyes, back pieces, gemstore and other less important stuff.

I was aiming at being one of those types of people who got one on first attempt and failed so haven’t worried too much about it. :P I did get an exotic on first try though with rares. I also toss account bound fractal weapons (not the skins) into there when I have 3-4 of them.

Until today i have spent ~800g in exotic Greatswords and 0 precursor at all
Spent another ~500g in rare Greatswords and still no pre.
And i toss all the GS in the forge that i do get from dungeons/world bosses/ fractals

Speaking of account bound fractal weapons, its also good to spend dungeon tokens on exotics and throw them into the forge. I typically buy 3 focuses for 630 tokens total and add in a mystic forge stone for a random exotic. No precursor from that yet for me however.

i rather use my gold buying armor and weapons trough the TP then throwing it in the blue ocean of toilets.

If we add the conversation for Sigils and Dyes I have sunk a good 100g in Lipstick Dyes for 4 Back to Back Abyss dyes (per inventory set) It sure caused the price to jump from 50s to 5 gold in 1 day xD

to be oh so ever serious on this matter, if an it they do become craftable I would no doubtingly say they would require 100 Delldri Sword / Blades / Dagger

Seeing as it would greatly screw up the economy this would still cause it to be up in the 700gs etc.
