I am Bored
Do you have all legendaries?
Have you completed all the Living Story achievements?
Have you completed all collections?
Have you filled up your wardrobe?
If nothing else it is fully possible to simply take a break for a while and come back when the next big update (specializations) or when the expansion launches.

Most of the people working on content are most likely working on the expansion.
The best thing you can do is set a goal for yourself and work to meet it.
For instance I’ve done map completion on 3 or 4 characters (I can’t exactly remember), got the “Dungeon Master” achievement, finished the personal story more times than I’d like to admit and I have been finding it hard to find something new to do. The thing I’ve done is set myself a goal – I’m working towards getting all the legendaries as well as all the mystic forge weapons, plus the karma skins. After I’m done with that I’ll work on getting the rest of the skins I’m missing. It’ll take a while, and it’s a long-term goal, but it’s given me something to aim for.
I think the major thing to realise is that after a certain point in the game, it’s purely Fashion Wars 2.
So long Treeface.
“…Kormir? I know not of whom you speak.”
I’ve crafted the legendaries that I wanted and appealed to me, saving most fine crafting mats for the new legendaries, done Map comp on 6 characters, nearly 7. I have all professions to level 80 in exotic or better gear. I rerolled my main which had 100% maps and 500 weaponsmithing too, and done that (I actually challenged myself to how long it would take to get from 0-100% map on a new character, it was 44hrs but that was done out of curiosity.)
And that’s my point, I have all the cosmetic items I want, I’m currently building a legendary for my Boyfriend, and I still want some content to do, to cut into the farming.
There will never ever be a game that can be developed faster than players can consume it. Sooner or later there will be nothing you want to do.

What the game needs is more features focused around non-scripted player-driven activities so they devs don’t NEED to worry so much about churning out their own handcrafted content. Story updates should be a nice bonus to the game, more than being the game itself. Stories are great, but they end. And until the next installment comes out, we need (interesting) things to do ..in this game or another.
Give us things to care about that we, the players, are in control of. Make it feel like an actual world in between story updates, rather than the shallow grindfest it is. Sorry, but grinding for gear/skins is NOT interesting. Achievements are nice to have, but what I am really doing them for? What difference do they really make for my experience or standing in the world? Let’s face it, they’re just more busy work like all the other grinding.
I’ve completely explored the world, and that was great at the time, but that’s been done now multiple times. There isn’t (yet) anything more to explore. I’ve done all the story multiple times and that won’t end up any different if I do it again. I got all the ascended gear I care to (and still resent its existence). I don’t feel invested in Tyria. Nothing for me or my guild to own / control. No way to exercise any real influence in the world. It’s all just scripted grinding over and over and over and over and over, not even with anything useful to show for it.
I think Anet puts out really polished themepark content, seriously, kudos guys. But you don’t have to shoulder all the burden. You don’t need the entire game to revolve around that. Give us more ways to forge our own destinies and make this “living world” actually more living (vs scripted), and you might find less pressure and complaints about taking so long to put out that polished content of yours.
