I don't like the cooldown on Spy Kits
I’m pretty sure the cooldown is meant to prevent people from abusing it excessively in dungeons.
I know that I had friends who abused it, so I don’t mind it getting cooldowns LOL.
I don’t like them having cooldowns either. But hey, thieves and mes got their stealth job back now!
And I like the effect on Ash kitz. Poof!
It happens in every MMO. Flavorful consumables get nerfed as the game matures and becomes more balanced. Developers really need to be careful with these items before they release their game. >_>
Same happened with Demonic Runes / Dark Runes in Warcraft.

That was to be expected. This consumable could trivialize some mechanics completely, that really couldn’t have been intended.
I speed run dungeons and have never used them. I was finally about to invest in some to help cut times down. Guess I won’t now. A one minute cool down seems ridiculous.

In the hours since they changed them the elite-grindorz have already come out with the rage of one million exploiters banned.
Consumable circumvented a key dungeon mechanic, they fixed it, big deal, move along.
If you’ve not been through this in a MMO before you’ve not spent any real time in a young/evolving MMO (which I’m getting is common here).

I was exploring the new cooldown for the Spy Kits. I noticed double clicking the kits, while there is a cooldown, will still consume them.
You don’t get to stealth again (because of your cooldown), but the game has no problem consuming them like they had no cooldown.
I think the developers forgot to design a logic check to prevent you from using another Spy Kit during the cooldown.
Other MMO’s prevent you from using another consumable until the cooldown runs out for the first one.
Actually, you can waste Spy Kits without even activating the countdown timer.
If you double click a kit in your bags, but don’t hit the skill bar to activate the kit, double clicking on new kits will still waste them.
It will be easy for players unfamiliar with the new nerf to keep double clicking Spy Kits in their inventory wondering why it isnt’ working.
This nerf was sorely needed. Come on, a consumable that can keep you permanently invisible even during other actions or channels with no cooldown and that also instantly removed you from aggro tables? You want this in game? Really?
As a frequent user of these kits, I felt the change was justifiable.
These kits were capable of ridiculous PvE abuse. I always kept them on-hand for many uses, but I always thought they were cheap. I’m glad it’s fixed.

99% of the game can be done reasonably without the kits, but dat 1%. dat 1% where the situation/fight was dumb, and it was not the fault of you or anyone else in your party, where kits allow you to correct the inherent dumbness of the game, dat 1% is why i rage.
anet has made an infuriatingly bad habit of fixing the communities solutions to the games problems without fixing the reason we needed a solution (the games horsekitten).
You mean exploits. Community exploits to cover for the community badness? We didn’t need that.
Not only the cd is kinda long now, which is not that much of a problem, but now you need to click twice to use it. Once to opne it and again to activate. This is just unnecessary and inconvenient… :/

community badness has nothing to do with it. what u said was stupid for two reasons
1. the players often have nothing to do with the bullkitten of the situation.
2. if every player has to be super leet in order to do things, then you will hurt the community overall (ppl are already complaining that the community is becoming too elitist)
if the game is stupid/wrong/broken, and players find a way to fix it, good. and shame on any developer that fixes the players solutions before fixing the problem with their own brokeass game.
also its a stretch to call kits an exploit in the first place. they were a consumable item specifically put in the game to be used. did they not think ppl would use them to turn invisible?

if u abused kits for the 99% of the game that was reasonable, then you were wasting karma. the only reason to use the kits at all was for that 1% of the game that was dumb.

I only needed these kits for the dredge fractals really because you know, ANet had a weird sense of humor when it comes to inmeasurable amount of dredges.
Many people exploited these kits in dungeons. Now you can’t!

nope, don’t want it in game. invis skills next please, lets give thieves shadow steps instead, invisiblity is just stupid, especially when you add it to any form of pvp.
Now they nerfed something good again… This game isn’t fun anymore. Knowing about the usage of spy kit is a “knowledge”, something you need to know at least to let you skip a few parts of a dungeon. The fact that we should all agree is, this game is about whether you “know” or not. Once you know what to do in a dungeon you are more capable to survive and be able to complete it without too much difficulty than those who don’t.
Spy kit doesn’t break the balance of the game at all. Dev is turning to another company like Blizzard, who cares every player to play a game the same way that they want.
This game isn’t fun anymore. I quit.

These made the Dredge fractal a total breeze. Also CoF p1. I used them but I can do well even without them. Good fix!
Oh no, now you have to use professions with stealth skills if you want reliable stealth!

i denounced this issue WAY before people used spykits……
Average level was 10 at that time (today its 30 at least)..
People answered “just use spykits”…..

im just wondering…. do they even play their own game?its 6 month since release…. this item worked like intended. so why should it be an abuse to use them in many situations. pve is often just anoying with bad ppl in your grp. its just killing the fun….. pve is not balance and without them i would have quitted the game already …just ridicolus and anoying at many points if your grp is lacking in skill…..
there r so many changes that r killing the fun…. it look like they dont want ppl to have fun in the game. they want everyone to run citadel of flame path 1…. how can they force ppl doing this?

I strongly disapprove of them overkill nerfing the kits and crystals.
They’re purchasable items, if they had a problem with people abusing them too much, increase the cost a bit, people will still abuse them but not as often, more situational.
I don’t care to repeat what I just posted in that “discussion about the update” thread, however them nerfing the bundles like that is a large factor in why I’m considering looking for a new game.
I’m ok with the nerf as long as someone explains me how to do the dredge fractals initial part without them at lv 40+ on a party without thieves. I’m a pretty tanky Guardian ( 19k hp, 3k armor ) and the dredges destroy me even when using Shelter/Sanctuary/Shield of the Avenger/Wall of Reflection/blablabla.

First, thanks for the info, I didn’t know these kits existed so I will have to try them. Second, if all that was done was add a cool down, doesn’t the kit still work to get you past a bad situation? Or is the kit active time like 10 seconds and you need to spam them? Overall permanent stealth from consumables doesn’t sound like an intended game mechanic and I agree with correcting the issue.

Free of will usable “God-mode” is not an answer for minor faults in game/players.

Moreover the kits is a really bad version of spykits.
But the real issue ais not spykit that is an expected fix.
Is they didn t solved the HUGE ISSUE with fotm that was told them month ago while instead nerfing the workaround….

game balance is just a joke in gw2. this change will make me quit the game…. the WP change last patch was already pain in the a….. since i have to care about ppl in my grp who die over and over again…. these changes have a big impact on my gaming experience. its no fun anymore….

spy kits just gave u an option to skip anoying stuff….. now its just less fun to play…. lets take fotm swamp…. easymode with a mesmer in your grp… it just takes the “anoying” part out of the fractal….. but its kinda op….
is this ok? give a grp with a mesmer such a big advantage? gw2 game design just sucks…. its so dependend on your setup etc…. there is no classic role like tank, heal, dd but it still feels the same since there r setups that just suck……. there is always need of a guardian since it makes everything so much easier…. mesmer gives u 3 more targets for mobs to attack…… istn it just the same?? it give grps with special roles an advantage…. there r setup options that make everything much easier….. is this ok??

First they nerf the plinx chain then they go push people to do their dungeons in order to make money. Now they are nerfing the very dungeons that they wanted people to do in the first place in order to make money. Well played Anet.

fractals anyone? spykit where most OP item in there, I tell you that is where the nerf came from.
And I don’t like the change also, it made some encounters with tons of mobs way easier as like get burst to dead or use them.

What the? CoF p1 is a total breeze period.
This and food nerf is going to make the Dredge really stupid. You are going to need particular mix of professions for fractal runs. Forget the old holy trinity… now you have stealth, reflect, and kite!
Amazing that anybody would think these things would go unchanged. If encounter design is the problem then fix the encounters, but spy kits needed this change.

Actually engineers is one of the classes able to “tank” while stationary for 20s. If a pistol/shield is equipped, along with ToolKit, Elixir Gun and Grenade Kit traited with Kit Refinement, he/she would have 2 shield blocks, 1 shield reflect projectiles, 4 Super Elixirs (which has been recently buffed), 3 AOE/bounce blind attacks, 1 AOE chill within the 20s window, not to mention the Elite skill Supply Crate (AOE 2s Daze + 1 Healing Turret). Engi would just need to wear PVT armor for maximum survivability.
It would be interesting if a ele/necro/ranger even warrior (now that food buff has been nerfed) was on the pressure plate though.

You mean that corpse that hold the button down? foodbuff nerf is awfull, but probally for warrior a build change should fix it.
