"I'm new to mmos/I know how to play" option
I’d appreciate this, myself. I generally think that most games should have an “I don’t need a tutorial” option.
well you can “kinda-sorta” skip the starting instance, just walk to the boss fight.
(you don’t need to talk to any of the quest NPCs or anything)
if you’re in the human area you don’t need to go through the keep, you can go around the side.
It would be a great feature to have, but keep in mind that a large amount of human and sylvari story dialog revolves around what happens in that tutorial area. The “Hero of Shaemor” as the human example would not really be earned if you skipped saving Shaemor.
Of course, that is me trying to point out tiny issues to every suggestion as usual, and a skip option for veteran players would come in handy a lot.
I don’t think a pop up tick box saying “I am new” or “I am a veteran” is the best way to do it, but perhaps a toggle-able option in character creation should appear once you have a character to level 80?

This one. If you’ve done the Tutorial enough to know all the bits, just ignore everything. You don’t even have to fight the final boss, you just need to be in the vicinity of the final boss when it’s defeated. Human is definitely the easiest to skip, though.

My key runner just runs to the boss fight. If I’m lucky I get to the area just as it’s ending, get the final cinematic and am warped out. Those days it only take me the time to run from the spawn point to near the back of the fort.
But yah, a “I’ve done this before” option would be nice. It’s not like you can unlock weapon skills or get meaningful exp in there now. I used to spend the time in there unlocking my weapons before leaving.
ANet may give it to you.

Agreed with this. I appreciate that GW2 is paced better for people new to the game, but for people like me who are more experienced with MMO gameplay, it’s more of a barrier to being able to enjoy the game.
This should also unlock all the stuff the new player experience hides from new players, and let us disable those annoying popups on levelup too. Especially annoying if I just eat a scroll of experience and have to go through 20 of them in one sitting.
I haven’t created new characters since the NPE patch, but this might help you.
Ok, I’ll bite. What does that have to do with the first personal story instance at character creation?
