I tear through salvage kits way too fast!!
Sounds like you have your info, and you made up your mind. are there any other things your concern about then?

It would still be nice if Anet would buff salvage kits!
Salvage kits need a balance. Theyre too underpowered.

All of the vendor salvage kits should really have 250 uses and have their prices adjusted accordingly.
I’ve always got at least one mystic and five of the blue kits on each character at any given time. The BL kits stay in the bank since they’re rarely used. Inconvenient but meh…got used to it eventually.
Well then you’re kind of stuck then. The Disasembler 3BEK Kit is a 10 x Basic Kit while the Mystic Kit is really a 10 x Master Kit which seems like a waste on white/blue/green junk. By categorically eliminating the Copper-Fed Kit eliminates your only alternative. Buy bigger bags or more bag slots so you can haul around all your basic kits then or visit a vender who carries basic kits frequently to restock if you are only carrying a few.

If you’re tearing through normal kits the way I tear through content your best bet is to go copper-fed. “eww gemstore” I know, I know. It’s more economical than the basic kit “By 0.52 copper woopee” I hear you saying. It’s also permanent. As in this thing will never ever run out of uses. You’d use up the $10 worth of gems and then some if you salvage gear the way I do.
For the rares/exos the best thing to use is the Mystic salvage kit. It’s the most economical by far, but if you can’t get your hands on the mystic stones, all you’re left with is the Master’s, which isn’t very nice at 6X the price of the normal Mystic salvage kit per use.
So long Treeface.

Khristophoros, the time that has been spent discussing your problem in this thread could have been spent in-game acquiring the gold that would be more than enough to purchase the copper-fed salvage-o-matic without using your existing funds. This fact negates the issue of needing to justify the cost to purchase one with the time it would take to recoup the gold as it would have been earned during that time instead using it here to discuss justifications for not purchasing it.
However, if you are really focused on not spending gold to resolve the issue you have with salvaging by purchasing a copper-fed, you may want to stop spending coin on your salvage kits as well and instead use your karma that you have surely accumulated much of. I recommend heading to the Black Citadel and purchasing Fine kits from the charr Cultural weaponsmith outside of the Trading Post area. You could easily park an alt there to buy kits to then toss into your bank for your other characters to collect and use.
Then again, karma is gold, technically, as you can perform actions to convert karma into coin. So no matter what it comes down to spending coin in one form or another for salvage kits.
Copper-fed would be the most cost effective method to which you could have already acquired the necessary gold to purchase had you spent the time acquiring gold in-game instead of “discussing” potential alternatives (read: being rude to anyone who recommends the copper-fed to solve your problem) here on the forums.
Just looking at this logically.

I have a copper-fed and a silver-fed kit both for my Thief. I wouldn’t trade them for all the tea in China, unless I could then trade some of that tea to get them back.
If you don’t want to buy a copper-fed and switch it around, buy a copper-fed for everyone. If you don’t want to do that, then deal with the salvage kits running dry on you. Convenience items and other gemstore tidbits, like the copper-fed salvage-o-matic, are how ArenaNet pays the bills.
No, I don’t want them to buff regular salvage kits. I want them to put copper-feds on sale again so I can snag a few more for my other commonly-played characters.
You have a plethora of options. None of them are perfect. Pick the one that’s the least imperfect and proceed from there. Sassing the crap out of everyone who tries to help you figure out your junk is not the way to go, man.
I said I don’t want the copper fed kit. Stop telling me to buy it. If you are only here to tell me to buy it just go away.
YOU asked for a solution. This is the answer.
If I weighed 500 lbs and ate McDonald’s for breakfast lunch and dinner and said I want no solutions that involve me not eating McDonald’s to lose weight the issue won’t be resolved.
Buy one or deal with it. Sorry to sound rude but don’t be stubborn.
Why would I spend 150 gold on an item that doesn’t match my playstyle?
It’s only convenient if you play a certain way. I swap characters on a whim.

So you’re saying I could reliably farm 150 gold in a few hours? I honestly didn’t know that. Tell me how. That would actually help me.
Why would I spend 150 gold on an item that doesn’t match my playstyle?

But you said you tear through basic kits and even mystic kits. An infinite use item sounds exactly like your play style.

Well it’s all explained in the thread…
Sometimes you have to look at what you want and decide how likely it is that you’ll get it. You would need to convince ANet that this is a good idea for them also. If they were to increase the salvage kit size like you ask then they hurt their own sales for the infinite kits. Since they are not going to hurt their own sales for you then you will need to look at the alternatives. From what you say, the only one that will work for you is buying kits periodically from merchants. And that’s what you’re going to have to accept as your answer.
ANet may give it to you.
Indeed. You do not even need to farm for it.
As you already stated you have plenty of coin, one way to acquire this 150 gold would be to simply spend 2-4 minutes placing buy orders for low cost items. You then wait 24 hours. Then log back in and spend 20 minutes collecting the items and salvaging them. You then sell the salvaged materials and list them for sale and they sell within minutes. 24 minutes on a no-risk purchase and sale gets me my initial investment back as well as an additional 30-35 gold minimum. This is only one method that takes almost no effort due to already having the coin to make the initial, large buy orders. The more of these items you place buy orders on, the more profit you make at the expense of a few more minutes of salvaging. 4-5 days and the copper-fed is already paid for. This also means plenty of use for the copper-fed if you continue with this process to make even more gold every day, where the copper-fed actually decreases the amount of time required to perform the salvages due to no longer having to stop to go buy more salvage kits.
That is exactly how I started out. I started off making as many buy orders as 1 gold would allow me to make, which was quite a few, and I also relied on merchant-bought salvage kits. I then took the profit I made and used it to make larger buy orders. When I finally got up to a page of full stack buy orders, constantly having to purchase salvage kits, as well as those many kits having to share inventory space with the items I was trying to salvage, it got to be a very time-consuming process. I then bought the copper-fed which allowed me to have all of my inventory available for items to claim and salvage and it was paid for in a couple of days.
I’ve stepped almost entirely out of the trading post for most of this year though and only have about 2 dozen items I maintain orders for to keep my 30-35 gold per day income as I don’t log in all that much anymore.
Hell, I’ve even considered gifting people copper-feds to start them on their way to TP domination as long as they were kind and respectful people. In fact, I’d have given you specifics for which items to place buy orders for that I would intentionally not out-bid you on so you could make more profit faster, as well as gift you a copper-fed completely free…had your last response for how to make this gold included the word ‘please’.

Wow, you people act like the copper fed salvage kit is jesus or something... accept it or be dammed for eternity!
I get the OP’s position that it is not alt friendly, and while its more worth vendor stops than wasting gold (send me to hell too,) he wants bigger quantities on salvage kits. Get off your high horses and him want out loud in the forums like every one else does.

The only thing you explained is your stubbornness. You want a kit with lots of charges so you aren’t saddled down with normal 25 charge kits at the start of your play session or learn to routinely visit an NPC vendor who carries normal 25 charge kits. The only 250 charge kits require Mystic Forge stones to make and it appears you aren’t willing to buy them at the gem store.
So which is more important to you? Using only a single slot in your inventory but requiring to spend gems; be stuck using up half a 20 slot bag with normal salvage kits or getting kits as cheap as possible?
RIP City of Heroes
Salvaging has gotten annoying to the point I’d almost rather pass up the loot most of the time. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely I’ll get near enough gold for the salvage-o-matic anytime soon, so I’ve got to deal with the obnoxious basic salvage kits for now (still less clicking than deleting everything).
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
I saved up and converted a portion of my gold on hand into gems once a week. It doesn’t take that for it to add up, as long as you don’t blow it on something cosmetic that pops up for a day (White Wings, they’re so FLUFFY!!).

@OP’s original post… To get back on track.
No, I do not believe the kits salvage rate should be doubled.
No advice, no “buy the copper fed”, no nothing.
Just keep doing what you are doing.
I think they need to “un nerf” the salvage rate for runes. When they increased the return rate this really was a nerf to physical well being of my hands and my mental health with more clicking.
I would rather all the the different kit types stacked to 250 instead of just selling a 250 variant of each. Would save inventory space not having all those 25 stacks…

Maybe a QoL fix for 2016.
