I don’t know where to post this else.

Just a message addressed to the Developer/Publisher:

I would absolutely pay money for kind of a ‘skin pack’ to turn the Necromancer pets into skeletons.

Thanks for reading!

Duuuuude best idea ever! I would want skeletons they as are always my fave enemy in these types of games. So to be able to control and army of them would be just awesome. It’s a shame we generally only see them around Halloween so an idea like this would be a dream come true for me. :P

I am really talking about skeletons.

I loved the Necromancer in Diablo 2, because you could have an army of Skeleton Warriors and Skeleton Mages.
I loved the Bone Dancer in DAOC, because of your own party of specialized skeletons, like Your captain, archers, healers, buffers, warriors and so on.

It would be outstanding if they would even laugh when attacking, like in EQ2.

I would really love to have skeletons as necromancer pets in GW2 and I would pay a reasonable amount of money to get them as a ‘skin’.

I absolutel support this.

Skill Skins is absolutely something, what GW2 needs to receive an awesome new level of Character Customization that Anet can use to make money.

Minion Skin Pack would be the most awesome first addition Anet shold use to begin with.

Skeleton Pack: Changes all of the Necromancer Minions into Skeleton Skins and Skeletal Creatures, when activated in your Inventory.

Bone Minions = Become Skeleton Warriors
Bone Fiend = Becomes Skeleton Archer
Shadow Fiend = Bone Hound/ Bone Shark
Flesh Wurm = Skeleton Mage
Flesh Golem = Bone Drake
Jagged Horror = kittenats
——-

Elemental Packs could give Elementalist Summons alot more creative freedom in regard of how the summoned Elementals could look like and allow you for example to summon instead of Elementals elemental magical beasts and monsters, like for example instead of summoning a Fire Elemental, I could summon a Fire Imp or a Flame Lion or a Magma Golem and so on for those people, which like to summon rather magical elemental beasts instead of some elementals that look like nothing mostly all and where the elite versions are just boring bigger versions of the normal onees…

Thief Packs could give summoned Thief Guildies different Armor and Weapon Designs to let them look more special. You wanted to always summon Shadow Clones instead, letthe Thief Pack allow that and turn your Thieves could into Shadow Clones of yourself which use Shadow Weapons.

Ranger Spirit Pack could give Ranger Spirits some different optical designs to let them look more awesome

Guardian Weapon Pack could give the Guardian Spiritual Weapons different designs.

Engineer Turret Pack for unique customized looking Turrets ^^

Warrior Burst Pack, to give the burst Skills of the Warrior some more visual dramaturgy

Mesmer Phantasm Pack, to change the Design of the phantasms to something different

I think it would be great, if GW2 would receive alot more visual customization options for skills….

Want a Blue Fireball instead a Red One as Elementalist, it should be posssible somehow.
Want to have red or black lightnings instead of blue ones, it should be a possibility.

Skill Skins would be a great new level of Character Customization

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

I thought you meant a pack, as in backpiece, that was a minion.

How cool would that be, perhaps a rotting quaggan backpack that pulses as it ‘breathes’, and drips necrotic fluids?

Possibly a half rotted quaggan strapped to your back, animated by green energy and with the appearance of suffering constant agony.

That aside, it would be nice to have a hand held skull (focus skin) which constantly talked to your necromancer – or if a different class equipped it, constantly suggested they switch to necromancer – or at least give it a shot for a few cycles.

As a mainly ranger player I think this idea is great!

It could be a whole new line of revenue for Anet through their gem store and maybe we rangers could get a pack too!

I think a crows/ravens/vulture/condor skin pack could be cool for Necros.

I’d love it if my Asuran Ranger had a Golem skin to cover his pets.

Awesome Idea!! – now its time to steal a bit of it and post a similar thought in the ranger sub forums!

If I recall in GW1 the creatures were more the Skeleton type. Unless I am wrong, I do have a necro there but I never got around to playing it. I always thought the reason they turned away from the skeleton type was for the fact that we don’t need dead bodies anymore to summon them since they did away with that.

It’s more like that you summon your creatures now from some other dimension, thus the demon type things. Still, I want my skeletons! :P

While I do like and support the idea of a pet skin pack, I don’t know if I’d buy one because I do actually like the way minions look. Just a shambling skeleton to me doesn’t scream necromancy/dark arts. I want to see flesh, muscle, tissue, organs, what I consider to be substance and allow for locomotion other than just a skeleton with the “it’s magic” excuse. But I’d really love a bone minion reskin, and jagged horror Reskin.

I’m sure that are ppl that are quite happy with the pets current visuals because obviously there where ppl back then when the graphics where developed that liked it the way it is today.

And though I would pay money to even just have them switched to even bare boned skeletons, because thats what I would summon as my minions if I would be a Necromancer, other players prefer even more grotesque creatures.

And thats the point where the whole idea with skinning weapons and clothes and the whole story of personalization and individualization starts at.

+1 for this idea!
Custom minions. Now, wouldn’t that be great!
From a technical standpoint, I dunno how feasible that would be, since minions tend to be one of the trickier things to program and work on. Even something as seemingly innocuous as being able to customize their appearance could have an effect on how much information is going between the servers and clients, which could cause no insignificant amount of lag in some cases.
This was the reason why Masterminds in City of Heroes were never able to customize their minions.
Of course, that was also a different (and older) game… If the technology behind Guild Wars 2 has advanced beyond such a problem, then great! I’m all for it!

Why you think so?

They were discussing having skeletons, instead of graves, in WoW and people said that the Chinese have a major problem with skeletons.

Not sure if it’s a superstitious, or a cultural thing, or what?

But, yeah, apparently they censor any game with skeletons.

I can’t confirm whether that is true, or not, but that is what was said.

There were skeletons as foes in GW1 and I think the game was very popular in the Asian region, so either they replaced the skeletons by whatever else fit to that regions or the ‘fact’ that Asians deny games with skeletons as a game content is as true as if you would say ‘Japanese eat sushi only’….

I don’t agree with this, even if it was a PvE only type deal. If skins were put into play in PvP it’d be hella confusing, as people wouldn’t know what to be on the lookout for. I think customisation is nice, but sometimes suggestions take it a little too far.

Necromancers raise undead minions. Unless the new skins were just different versions of undead creepy-looking things then sure. If you’re wanting to make them into rainbows, butterflies and rabbits then I’d suggest just playing a mesmer instead.

Plus if the necromancers had different skins to choose from, then it should be implemented for all classes with summons. Eles with their elemental summons, Mesmers with clones and phantasms, rangers choosing what their pet looks like instead of just choosing one based on the skills, etc.
