I would not spend all 1 million on the gem store (obviously), but I would get the following things:

All gathering tools for all characters (themed to fit them), and some spare for future characters.
All bank tabs and all bag tabs for all characters.
Convert gems to gold to get all characters the legendaries I want for them.
Convert gems to gold for the materials needed to create multiple sets (for different builds) of full ascended gear for all characters.
Convert gems to gold to get all the skins I want for all characters.
Enough transmutation charges to apply all the skins I get to the ascended armours I make.
BL keys for BL ticket weapons.
Stockpile a LOT of gems to buy future items with or to convert to gold if needed.
and finally 1 Swim Speed Booster just for poops and giggles.

I would buy up all the carrots on the tp.

100k I would probably give away to random people who wanted precursors/valuable skins. I would buy all the legendaries, all the spirit weapons to get my spirit smith backpiece and some nice exotic skins like infinite light and mjolniir. I would also buy enough mats to fill my collections tab on every single material. The rest I would just save and probably never spend.

I would probably buy a plane and write “I only play condi thief!” into the sky just because.

I would buy ALL THE LEGENDARIES, and one duplicate. I can always earn the real ones that HoT will drop when they come out.

Which would leave the vat majority of the million(which I assumed was an after tax million for this question) to be invested on serious things so I could have an income for life.

You forget the taxes.

Unless you are rich enough, you are not exempt of taxes. Apply taxes each year, and unless you are rich enough to simply be exempt from taxes (laws are made by rich for the rich, after all, so 80% of the taxes are paid by those with less than 20% of the wealth), all you have will be cut each year until there’s nothing. So the money can be used on corrupt schemes that redirect the money to the rich.

I can’t be bothered to look it up right now, but the top 50% in the u.s pays something like 97% of income tax collected. That income tax is a smaller percentage of their income, but that is because most super wealthy people make their money on investments(so capital gains tax instead). Of course there is certainly more options for tax avoidance( family corporations and charitable donations) but technically anyone can do the legal ways.

Regardless, you are never exempt from taxes based soley on your bank account (I know churches are exempt, but are the clergy working for them exempt as well?)

I’d seriously spend 900 dollars (worth 9000 gold through currency exchange estimate) on getting Eternity, and then some more on ascended armor.

The sad part is, the challenge and dedication involved in acquiring legendaries is what makes it worth it and enjoyable, so taking that away buy simply insta buying them would make me feel a bit bad, but my god, Eternity looks gorgeous. It’d be tough to resist.

I’m fairly certain that clergy are subject to income tax but are eligible for a tax break on their housing allowance (and even utilities, up to a certain amount). I’m not sure how it works for Catholic priests who have taken vows of poverty, as any income of theirs (outside of a small monthly stipend, in many cases) gets sent to the church/their superiors.

Summer outfits after they hire new armor designers who can make outfits and armor at the best quality and fix the inability to change outfit headpieces with the money I donate to them. That should also lead to new GW1 based Assassin armor obtainable in game.
