Excuse the gibberish, it’s quite difficult to get item codes for new stuff that isn’t a mess like this.

It’s probably a very low end infusion since we know they can be increased to go with the infinitely scaling dungeon.

Here’s the code in full, in case anybody feels like arguing about it being fake : [&AgEJkQAwDZWd0+4GAADzMS7fZRcAAA==]

I’m confused as to why anyone is surprised by this. They said there would be offensive and defensive infusions. Were people under the impression they meant something else beyond agony protection + an additional offensive or defensive style buff tacked on?

Anet, what’s wrong with you?

You explicitly said that exotics would be it for stat progression, that legendaries and exotics would be equal.

To literally bait and switch players like that is just plain stupid.

Here’s the thing. If Ascended has already been stated to be a tier above Exotic, I don’t exactly view it as a crime for them to be even better, given we already knew that they were superior. This doesn’t really change anything – and Anet has spoken, they’ve already introduced this content. Feedback is crucial, but going up in arms about it won’t resolve anything nicely. Just a thought.

Do you understand that infusion slots are actually replacing upgrade slots, so in ascended gear there will be no slots for runes. So, there will be infusions instead of runes. What stats they have? +5 to power/vitality/and so on. Even if you assume, that its the lest powerful infusion and that infusions will have +20 stats, its anyway even less than stats that runes give. I don’t see any reason here to act as a child and whine or cry out loud. From what we have seen so far, ascended gear won’t be much better than exotic in stats, so just relax.

Ascended items automatically include the stats of exotic + rune/crest/jewel + 8% of the total extra. And now in addition to that, also stats on infusions. Exotics have now officially been demoted to salvaging/MF fodder.

@Dimalit: Ascended items already have the bonuses from their Runes/Sigils built INTO them though. You can see it in the example Linsey gave with Yakkington’s Ring. It’s combined stats already exceeded that of an Exquisite Opal Ring, even without an upgrade, and now you can stack further Infusion buffs on top of it.

I think I’m out. I like to play alts, and GW2 out of the box was quite friendly to this style of play with easy to reach max level and BiS items. Gear grind increases the gap between casual and hardcore players, but it also punishes alt players.

I think the only way this would turn out ok is if the Ascended gear can only be used in the Ascended dungeons. This would contain the gear treadmill and keep it out of WvW, open world PvP, and the non-Ascended dungeons.

I’m greatly disjointed in how most of you forum gamers are behaving. Yeah sure the new armor rank has its ups and downs but why are ya’ll acting like it’s the end of the world? So what the stats are better, but not enough to make exotic obsolete. Hell I don’t even have full exotic yet, yet I have no problems completing any and all PvE content because (gasp) gear isn’t that important in this game. It helps, but this isn’t a heavily gear based game, so really as long as your build is good, and your wep is good enough, it’s all good.

If they keep adding more armor ranks (which I highly doubt they will, sounds more like the infusion thing will be the future) then go ahead and panic, but until then at least wait till you try out the new content to complain. Also about the infusion thing, to me it just sounds like a higher level rune/sigil, and considering that the highest level rune/sigil is 60 I don’t see a problem in this whatsoever.

Point. Counterpoint:
The Fractals dungeon is only available in the new level 80 area, which means that exotics have to be enough in order to play in the area. People doing the dungeon for the first time will only have exotic gear, so the ascended gear is still only neccssary for Hard Mode. Also, it has been stated that the difficultly for the dungeon resets every week, mean every week you start at level 1 difficulty; again no need for the gera if you don’t want to. So, still not effect as of yet on PvE, only the dungeon, only hard mode. The only people who should have a gripe with the new gear are WvWorlders

It seriously doesn’t take much time to attain any piece of exotic. I’d be full exotic out if I decided to collect the other dungeon sets, but alas the dungeon set I want (CoE) is hardly played by anyone on my server. At 1st I was just going to go ahead and get the CoF armor since that always gets played but after getting 3 pieces in like 2-3 days, I decided to stop since I don’t really like how the armor looks. Since then I’ve been logging on to see if I could get a CoE party and if I can’t I log off.

Long story short, if I wasn’t stubborn and picky, I could’ve been had full exotic in a week tops. But it’s not really necessary. And as I said yeah, I highly doubt new ranks will be added later, if anything just new infusions (which sound like runes/sigils to me).

They started down the road of the most annoying thing of ALL MMOs after only 3 months, and especialy after selling their own game as a mmo where you dont have to grind gear.

And that’s the real problem.

It helps, but this isn’t a heavily gear based game, so really as long as your build is good, and your wep is good enough, it’s all good..

Because they sold the game on the basis there would not be vertical gear progression nor a load of gear grind and that people could play it their own way (now people who stay will be forced to do dungeons to play WvW), which is why many of us bought it, within 3 months they have totally gone back on their word.

Also people don’t just PvE, we do WvW, once they’ve added ascended to all the slots it will make a big difference vs exotics.

Lots of us are quitting over this and I doubt this change is going to help the game that much, because many of the people it appeals to also like things like raids, specfic roles, addons, etc.

1. Exotics are top gear now….are people forced to get a full set for WvW? No….they’re not.
2. Wait till the content comes out to make such claims as “once they’ve added ascended to all the slots it will make a big difference vs exotics”.
3. If you want to overreact and quit before at least waiting for the content to come out, go ahead, but honestly it’s a tad ridiculous if you ask me.

I hate to say it to you, but you really need to get full exotic before continuing this debate. I cut through people like butter in WvW with my full exotic gear. There’s a very, very noticeable difference. Especially when percentages get ramped up, like with Berserker gear.

Secondly, the best thing about this tier system is you know exactly how each tier increases in comparison to another. So if this is happening to the rings and trinkets now, it will be exactly the same for armor. Lets not be naive here, are they gonna have ascended gear with exotic stats? No.
