I feel I need some backstory on this, if anyone has managed to find anything out.

Basically, this one guy has been logging in, coming into zones, every day, asking “is there a girl from Sweden?” or some variation – for months and months. Every single day.

Used to see it on Whiteside Ridge, although I don’t doubt he guested around. Now see it routinely on the EU megaservers.

I’m not going to post his name because I don’t want to turn this into a witch hunt, but its really pretty funny and/or weird.

Anyone know more?

I know exactly who you mean and he has whispered me on one occasion I immediately blocked and reported him after he asked for ‘bed fun’.

Maybe he just has a thing from Sweden.

In all honesty though, ArenaNet should at least warn him, if not ban him. The game is not a Chat room or a dating website. To some people it might be a joke, but to others it’s truly perverse the way he speaks if you are unfortunate enough to have had a whisper from him.

i think it is against the code of conduct, but yes people are here to have some fun but not being subjected to sexual harassment.

I’ve seen him around too. I whispered him once to tell him no one was ever going to give him the kind of replied he wanted, but all I got in response was “are you girl?” about 5 times then asked if I’m on Facebook. I didn’t reply.

Anyone know what server he is on??

I can’t help but laugh at this.

I’ve seen his er… “pick up” lines on Piken Square map chat from time to time, though it could be any server thanks to the megaservers. I just put it down to some stupid internet meme and ignored it.

Never had any whispers from it on my female characters though, or male ones for that matter.

I’m currently looking for a new server, I’d like to go gank him if he dose wvw aha

I’ve lost faith in humanity -_-, I hate people who put there looking for a “cute” girl etc, shallow much, and people have diffrent ideas on what’s cute or not RAWR!

I’m from SFR and I saw him few times as well, in at least 3 different areas. I respect his determination, he seems to be asking this question everyday for at least few weeks (months?) now.

I can tell you that that is not Swedish humour. I can tell you that because it is funny.

I see that guy every day in chat. He once started whispering me, but I just ignored him. He kept on trying to have a conversation until I blocked him. Wish he could just get a warning or something and learn his lesson already >.>

I obviously dont know, but if he needs to search for one particular girl this way, I really wonder why.

I’ve wondered about that too. I imagine it’s a complex love story; 2 starcrossed lovers, unable to meet in real life for whatever reason, meeting eachother in-game using fake names. Or maybe it’s a password for a secret society. I remember an article about scientists figuring out a way to transmit messages through Skype calls without anyone ever noticing. “Girl from Sweden” could be code for something.

He started to talk to me (I’m Swedish)… and all he wants is to get laid….. He asked where I lived and if I liked * (insert male sexual organ).

Really disgusting!! He’s blocked and reported by me!

On my server some guys were talking about this guy some days ago and some said that for the fun of it, some replied to him to be the girl from Sweden, and that he would get into very obscene and disturbing talkings…if that’s true, fun or serious, I’d suggest to report him, maybe a 3 days block of his account would teach him a couple of things.

They’re called “flouncers”. We used to get them a lot on the old The Sims fan forums I used to frequent: People who keep proclaiming that they’re leaving yet seemingly appearing to lack the ability to do so.

Haven’t really seen this guy in map chat. But from the comments above, the guy really needs to be blocked and see a psychiatrist as well. This is a game, not a dating site.

I actually found it just last week linked from something else. So it immediately sprang to mind. I’m a sucker for bad dating stories/profiles/etc. Probably because I’ve been married like forever so I can laugh at it now.

Troll or not, Anet really needs to teach this creep a lesson.

I have seen this guy in Divinitys Reach, mainly Aurora Glade players there. He also used to communicate in /say.

Looks like somebody just did. I went ahead and added an “A” for my new thief.

At least he is honest about it, unlike many other internet knights who will be fake and sneaky. I believe that one day he will find his true love and happiness!

I saw an “experiment” video on The Guardian website not long back, where a woman propositioned men in the way men have oftentimes spoken to women. A lot of men were simply bemused; thought she’d lost her marbles and asked if she was feeling well. One guy took her up on her offer. A lot were quite confused as she shouted certain things from the van she was driving past them.

The only, yet major, difference was the men didn’t appear to feel threatened by the woman in any way.

Make of that what you will.

As I have no direct experience, the guy asking for a girl from Sweden is currently lying in the odd category.
