I play mostly for WvW, which is pure crap at the moment. So I would put this game near the bottom of a long list..

don’t think there is a “best” MMO -it’s all personal taste really.

MMO’s have changed over the years, they’re all about the same, like a big fashion show! sort of like a Barbie game only with killing.

My first MMO had non combat classes and perma-death. Now? Every class is a combat class and the only penalty for death in PVP is you have to live with the fact you where probably killed by a guy who plays vidoe games 20 hours a day.

Yup best MMO for me. Though I don’t mind dabbling in multiple games either.

I’m enjoying BDO more. this game is getting old, and PvP and wvw are just getting worse.

the lustre has gone. pve is awful. combat is fun when playing PvP some of the time, but really is just AOE spam most of the time. pve combat and adventuring are terrible.

BDO is grand. in look and feel. combat is excellent.

But will you be enjoying it more in 3 years. It’s that blush of first love. It always fades. Sometimes faster than others.

When we started this game, people loved it. It was the best thing ever. And then, a few months later, they introduced ascended gear, and the love affair was over.

All new relationships are great, because in that first experience we tend to overlook the bad points, but they’ll be there.

If you play games like that you’ll move from game to game forever. At the end of the day, you can’t compare a game that’s not released yet to one that’s been out for years. Well you can, but you’d be fooling yourself.

i never liked the pve in this game. I played solo WvW for a good while, then moved to guild WvW. after WvW stagnated too much and population started to bleed is moved to mostly PvP. nowadays i play PvP, and the occasional bit of WvW but I’m mostly in TS talking with guildies. I’ve only gone to the HoT maps for specialisations, and I really did not enjoy it at all.

furthermore, ive been playing BDO on korean servers for over five months. i can safely say i like the game.

GW2 is currently one of the better options in the MMO genre at the moment. Best, no, but a good option, yes. It could be a lot better if the game is managed better. There are game modes being neglected (WvW), game modes seemingly unbalanced (PvP), and game mode where ppl are unhappy about the grind and expense to play in (PvE – specifically HoT).

It could be so much better. Other MMO’s struggle with providing an active combat gameplay and smooth animations, GW2’s got it all there. Other MMO’s struggle to provide large scale RvR/WvW, GW2 has it here, but it’s a game mode not well taken care of by management. Other MMO’s make you grind for gear as primary objectives, gear isn’t that big of a deal in this game, you kind of grind for looks, which most people are ok with.

GW2 isn’t the best, but it has a lot going for it. Unfortunately it could be better and could be more popular than it is today.

I don’t think it’s the overall best, but could easily make the top 5 or so. It is definitely the best for me when I just want to run around and do things without paying much attention though.
No complex dps rotations and easy open world makes this one of the easiest to jump in and play without any stress.

Definitely.

gw2 is a good game for those that want to play mmo games and still have life
it gets monotonic for me at some point but that might be just personal taste
wish it was better at times but no game is perfect to satisfy everyone
overall is a good game with the optimization team deserving a medal
since game has no maintenance downtime and works very well
could use less homogenization of classes though to remind more classic mmos than everyone just doing damage
