I am also very happy with this patch. I main ele, and I will still enjoy pvp with him (with a scepter, always have, always will, I’m quite glad they didn’t change it much, id rather everyone else stay D/D). My war is as happy as can be.
I also play mes quite a bit, and whole heartedly agree that mes needed a nerf.

Squad UI adjustments are solid.

Only thing that I’m concerned about is what they did and didn’t do to necro/reaper, but we’ll see.

I guess we can see where their loyalty and focus lie.

We were promised to get huge, major balance changes every quarter year. But what we have got now is just a joke!

The needed changes and improvements of many terrible traits, skills, weapons of almost every class have been left out! I am hugely disappointed and frustrated about that.

Action Camera, great idea, but still completely useless.

-make the cursor (white dot) color changable (to any unlocked dye color?) or the negative of the color it is currently over, it is almost impossible to see anywhere in the Shiverpeaks.

-hard-wiring what the mouse buttons do is, however, the most broken aspect of Action Camera. Two special binds could be added to the Control Options where instead of being a unique key bind it would require that what key/mod(s)+key is entered into these 2 special binds be bound to something else or if left blank or unique would simply send the key press when one of the mouse buttons is pressed in AC or do nothing.
For example: to emulate the current, hard-wired, functions of Mouse1 (aka LMouse, LMouseButton, Primary Mouse Button, etc.) the 1 key (assuming 1 is bound to Weapon Skill 1) would be entered into the Control Options special bind AC Mouse1 (or whatever Anet would call it). I’m not exactly sure what the current functionality of Mouse2 (aka RMouse, Secondary Mouse Button, etc.) actually emulates, it is either a simple “Left Click” at the white dot cursor location or it is emulating the Lock Autotarget bind under Targeting. If it is the latter, that would be simple to reproduce by simply putting the same keybind into both Lock Autotarget and AC Mouse2 special bind.
Another example: If Up Arrow is bound to Move Forward and Down Arrow is bound to Move Backward and one wanted to make the mouse buttons move forward and back when using Action Camera the binds would look like this…
Move Forward = Up Arrow
Move Backward = Down Arrow

AC Mouse1= Up Arrow
AC Mouse2 = Down Arrow

These 2 special binds would allow any other bindable action to be placed on the mouse buttons when using Action Camera and facilitate maximum customizability to all players who want to use Action Camera to its fullest potential. Until this change is implemented Action Camera is basically worthless to most players.

How do you turn off the logging of receiving harvested items? it’s completely flooding my chat window making it useless.

Yeah I’ve played the new build for only 10 mins and this is really annoying. Who thought this was a good idea??? tbh this issue deserves its own thread, which i had intended to make when i saw this…
Alternatively is there an option to turn this idiocy off?

It’s always been there. It’s just that it got checked instead of unchecked in selections for some reason with this update.

Ok thx vm, just noticed the ‘Your <armor> took damage’ msgs too, it’t not obvious what that falls under, so should just disable all ‘Game messages’?

I really feel like ANet is not allocating enough resources, staff, or time to ability balance.

Every single class has broken abilities. Every single class has traits that don’t make sense or don’t work. We have failed traitline synergies and useless redundancies (taking “Dual Wield” + Berserking’s 15% haste literally does nothing! Why have two trait options that are so similar!?). The entire game is plagued with this stuff. But the balance patches we get barely change anything. Most of the time, we just get a few number tweaks here and there, when MASSIVE redesign is needed in many areas of the game.

You take one look on the class forums, and you can see page after page of well thought out ideas. Passionate community members are spending HUNDREDS of hours carefully analyzing the flaws and issues of their classes, making spreadsheets, opening up discussion on how things could be fixed, all sorts of useful stuff like that.

Why can’t ANet give their game the same care their players exhibit? Personally, I feel like the class developers are not at fault. I’m sure they are just as passionate as their community.

I think the real reason we don’t see the same level of “care” coming from ANet is because they are limited by time constraints in their roles. They have to come up with ideas, program them, test them, tweak them, re-program them, etc. Instead of doing that, isn’kitten lot easier to just adjust some numbers on the existing ability and put a bandaid on the problem?

Spirit weapons are non-existent.
Physical skills still suck.
Ventari Stance needs to be redone.
Revenant doesn’t even work underwater.
Numerous weapons across all classes are unused.
Traits are sloppy and lack synergy in many areas.
“Thick Skin” exists.

Just to name a FEW glaring problems. Everyone reading this can probably think of their own issues.

Please, ANet. Take your class devs OFF whatever other new projects they are working on, and put them on class balance full time. Allow those devs to FINISH YOUR GAME. They need more time. The game and the classes are currently incomplete.

Gaile, I’ve sent in bug reports on this already, but the jump pads around mount maelstrom are currently seriously borked. Every time you jump on them, they prompt you to “train the basic gliding mastery” in order to use them.

Thief, warrior and revenant in car and on their way to a PvP match.
They get pulled over by officer Karl.
“Hey guys. how much sustain have you had tonight?”
They all look nervously at each other respond that they haven’t had much. Officer Karl is suspicious though..we asks them to perform a field sustain test.
Karl gives the warrior a rifle and asks them to contribute to a team fight in any meaningful way. The warrior breaks down crying and tells Karl, “I’ve been trying to get help. I’ve even joined support hotjoin matches to try and improve.” Karl shakes his head.

The thief doesn’t even wait to show off their auto attack skills and then get blown away like crepe paper in the Aoe. “Hey, look man, I am just trying to get to a home to decap it. I’m just the +1 person in the car here.”

Lastly the revenant looks a little gun shy…“the thing is Karl, if you asked me to do this earlier this morning there would have been no problem….”

Karl looks at the 3 of them..“Look guys, it’s not just your lives out there that you’re endangering. Think of all the other people in ranked..imagine if you had actually been involved in an esports event. Sorry guys, but I can’t let you head off to your Pvp match. It would dangerous..next time think about how much sustain you have before trying to PvP Karl then lets them know..look, it’s pretty clear you 3 three have totally exceeded the unsustainable allowance. Your actually 3 times over that limit..I’m gonna have to make all 3 of you non-viable for Pvp for the 4 months. Next time get a sustainable necro to take you to the match. It’s unbelievable all three of you were gonna try and cue together.”

Insane ICD on Automated Medical Response is unwarranted. 120s? In that time, I can use AED 3 times before the ICD is over. And, it will trigger even when the healing skill is off CD, so most of the time it’s a wasted trait.

Btw, it is 30s longer than any other ICD in the game, with necromancer and revenant traits tying for 2nd at 90s.

They should have reduced the ICD to 60s. That would be a much better balance.

Two thumbs down on the profession changes.

Traits across all professions are a mess and do not make sense.

Many weapon skills need upgrades and reworks.

Health across professions need a reevaluation considering the amount of damage players are being hit with. This is particularly important in wvw and HoT.

Still zero revamp of stealth and improving other things to increases combat survivability (yes I have a thief).

The condition system is still over the top and way way way overdone.

Too many gimmicks for each class shoved into them in an effort to produce “roles”.

Removing of amulets in spvp was the most awful thing you could do. That’s a generic and cheap way of “balancing”.

The game direction is shifting to harder content and “roles” are on the radar, but profession development is still stuck in “alpha phase” for a lack of better words.

This year will will be another year of the same old.

I’m sorry, but the way professions have been handled this entire time is NOT “development”. It’s clear that professions are placed low on the development “to do” list.

AAA game in many respects, C- for professions.

Side note- another event shoved in a corner and not worth doing. Very poor rewards yet again.

New Main- 80 Thief – P/P- Vault Spam Pro

221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.

Why am I getting chat messages every time my armor takes damage? I turned off misc and inventory yet still get the message. Next time you add a bunch of chat options how about having them off instead of on by default.

If I could report anet for spamming my chats I would

I’ve read that post already. I understand that the event was in mind of leveled players of that map and that with less people it would be harder. But it is a quick and easy boss that will always have a lot of people doing it.
And second I thought I read it was to stop players from afk killing it. From the one time, granted this is one time, I did the event. There is already a zerg or two just afk killing him still. Even if he was meant for lower level, I still think he should live up to his title. Being a strong dragon minion. Heck teakettle is in a level 60 zone and was harder than any level 80 event, people love(ed) that. I look forward to seeing how this evolves.

Very underwhelming. It’s a complete disappointment for me. If we have to wait that long for a patch and it is so minor, I don’t know what holds me here much longer.

Legendary armor hasn’t been adressed with a word.
The changes for the classes are very minor except of a few. Many issues not adressed at all that were mentioned by many.

The shatterer doesn’t feel very different from before -don’t know what that hype is about and the rewards are as crappy as before.

As i said, a big disappointment.
