This is not arguable – the achievement is just simply stupid, I could think of 100 better ones in a minute. I’ve done all of the JP’s and revisiting them is by far the most pointless thing I could think of tbh. Events = profit (gold, karma), wvw kills (badges and fun), fractal (profit and fun anyway imo) etc…
Now JP’s = Massive 100% braindead waste of time, I’ve done them all and they are NOT fun the 2nd time you ‘discover them’ (lol what the kitten??)…
Truely shows how incompetent some people are, honestly…if I was trying my hardest to think of a really bad monthly achievement – I wouldn’t even come up with that, that takes some skills to make up smth that bad.

I’d much rather have to visit a JP again than do a fractal.

For every other alternative you pose, someone will complain about it. In the end, someone always complains.

I have yet to do 5 jumping puzzles since I bought this game…I think it gives most people an opportunity to do them for the first time, btw they are almost always EASY.

100 Events would be easier than 30 JPs for me. I even fail the jumping in Fractals… and I got as far as the second snwoflake in that Wintersday event. How am I supposed to do 30 puzzles? :/

Does the JP count reset with the daily achievement or is it permanent?

Sounds to me like this monthly isn’t for you then.

I know this may sound incredible, but perhaps not everyone has discovered all the jumping puzzles, baffling i know. A lil motivation to get those folks out there to have a looksie, and get them all up to your level of awesome.

You could just skip it if its that painful for you.

You just have to discover the JPs, not finish them.

That being said, the monthly feels like an incredible grind for me. WvW kills again, for someone who does not play WvW, the fractal grind, while they have not fixed the dungeon yet, great.
And now they added events, which is kind of okay, because you get those with anything you do in the game.

And the JPs might be great for folks who have not tried those yet, but they did not for a reason, and for me it is just a goldsink because I will have to WP to 30 JPs to revisit them…

And Jps = fun too, that’s not arguable for lots of people. Maybe you don’t like them but others like them, you think WvW is fun, some think it isn’t, you think fractals, some don’t even go there, what YOU believe is not a fact or what everyone else believe as well.

There are worse monthly achievements, like doing Fractals yet again… how many times will they require doing Fractals for a monthly? Some variety is needed and something that is not what people do anyway.

Who said anything about completing them? I got points just by entering them, and that same point by entering it again on alt.

Nowhere does it say the monthly achivements are different from month to month. They actually end up repeating the requirements more often then not.

That’s your opinion, but not everyones. I find the jps annoying and not fun in the least, and avoid doing them like the plague. As to having them in the monthly, I never bother with the monthlys anyway as the requirements useally include something I am not interested in and the rewards are simply not worth the effort.

I don’t know why it’s even there though. Walk to the start of a jumping puzzle 30 times. Neither fun, nor rewarding. It won’t make people who love doing them love them more. It won’t make people who don’t like doing them start liking them. Just strange to include it.

I bet it started out as “Do 5 jumping puzzles in 1 month” and there were mixed opinions so they reworked it, so it wouldn’t be hard for anyone… but didn’t question if it was even worth keeping at that point.

Until they fix fractal disconnects I’m not really eager to do this one. Not to mention a better group finding system. Pretty much those things that made me skip last months achievement.

Hopefully they either fix fractals soon or leave fractals out of next month.

ArenaNet how about putting something new in the monthly thats not a standard grind part of the game? Like a monthly set of new missions?

Maybe something pertaining to the player’s order they joined (vigil, priory, whispers)?

took me 1 hour 20 mins to do. and i made a few gold proft (a few rares from chest and loads of greens).

I’m wondering what game people are playing or if I have something else. I’m a recently turned 80 player. Going by forum reaction Orr was this hideous place where no fun or money can be found. Ran a few Cathedral chains yesterday (all failed even), 4 gold from drops after a handful of hours. I’m not even sure what I need the gold for now since I’m full exotics of my choice. Still good to accumulate for an alt or future needs. But I was getting rewards, fights many times were non-stop meaning, lots of drops/rewards. Also finished all Orr maps yesterday as well, another 4 gold from the rewards, yes a nice 8 gold day. Do not understand these loot issues.

You don’t have to complete the JPs for the monthly. All you have to do is find the entrance.

If I see something in the monthly I dont fancy doing, I just leave it, I didnt complete Decembers monthly. Its no big deal.

Oh boo hoo. WvW is always part of the monthly but since WvW holds no appeal to me, I never get to do it. But you won’t find me on the forums complaining. If you don’t like JPs, don’t do them. Its 1 freakin month. Get over it.

People complain about lack of returning to other areas for stuff, so they put in achievements to help put people back into other areas and of course people still complain.

I would like to thank those in this thread (and the other one) that clarified you only need to find the JPs. While I wasn’t very daunted about locating them all, doing them all would probably not be possible (at least the timed ones anyway, due to reaction time and RSI issues).

Amusingly, I swung by this subforum expecting DEs to be the gripe, not the JPs (OK, I can see some of the Fractals/WvW arguments, and sympathize a bit since my ‘main’ is an engineer).

BTW, how did you determine 100 to be the total, when you can only see the first tier (of three)? Is there an actual calculation to their tier setup or did you actually go through them already? (I can believe the latter, since I was shocked how quickly I got 25 without trying too hard.)

wow 100 events, that is actually quite a lot. It’s the equivalent to 20 dailies. For those who don’t play every day, it could be difficult.

re: a reason to go back to maps in pve for jumping puzzles.
It’s not going to revitalize pve. They aren’t getting involved in the areas, they’re just running to a spot from a waypoint and leaving. It won’t help any of the new christmas players. What we need is a Map Explore monthly, like “Explore Gendarran Fields” for January, which gets lots of players in that map, and getting involved. Each month a new map to re-explore.

Well, that would move the LA overflow to some other map for that month, not a longtime fix.

Should have been retroactive, but they also should have come up with something better (for the record, I actually like JPs).

There are spots you can bang out 10 DEs in 30m, and now that dungeons count as events, you’re completing events left and right in practically any content you choose.

You could go kill 100 dolyaks, for example. You’d probably get involved in some serious small scale WvW while you’re at it.

I didn’t get progress when doing Urmaug’s Secret until I opened the chest, but saw progress for falling into the Troll’s End well. I don’t recall which ones I had done on that character though.

And here I was setting up to portal all my guildies to the end chests for the monthly, guess they can continue to do it the old fashioned way :P.

You are now in a different overflow an it will count towards it just by being in another overflow. Rinse and repeat 30 times. If one of the times it didn’t count that just means you’ve been in that overflow and just log out again. Or go to the other 2 there. Stop complaining about something that you have not spent the time to figure out first.

I have never done the monthly ever either.

Well where I once didn’t have any issue with the monthly requirement, I do now with this exploit. But it’s a real little issue with me.

I could not agree more. What a pointless achievement. I’ve done all the JPs but revisiting them is nothing close to fun. Do I have to teleport to all the 30 JPs and discover them while losing my precious silvers to tp costs or do I have to run all the way and spend one day just running? None of them are fun. This, my friends, is a proof that ANet is loosing their grip of understanding what is fun and what is not anymore.

What I am afraid of is that ANet may not be reading posts here and realise what we are complaining about.

Why teleport to all of them? Kill stuff, gather, and do events along the way to finish other parts of the daily/monthly and easily recoup any travel expenses.

1 fractal every 3 days, done in 21 days
5 WvW kills every day, done in 10 days
5 events every day, done in 20 days
2 JPs every day done in 15 days

It’s not like you have to complete a MONTHLY in a day, it’s a monthly for a reason after all.

Face it, in order for you to be completing the “flavor of the month” achievement, you need to be current and actively playing the game during that month. That’s why they put month-specific requirements into the last three. Fractals is do-able with sub-par gear and a pick-up-group, seriously. Discovering the jumping puzzle locations is. . . well let’s just say complaining about how hard that is, is childish. This is the easiest and fastest month to complete, period.

Seriously I don’t think this thread was created knowing that you only had to visit the starting point of the JP location for it to count.

I HATE the new dungeon. Hate it (repeat that 10x).

I will never be able to do a monthly if there are part of it like the last 3 months..

Guess what? That is a me problem. So if you don’t like the jumping puzzles, don’t do monthly. Clearly I am not gimped by passing on the last few months..

The jumping puzzle requirement is actually interesting since ITS NEW.
What irks me is being FORCED into WvWvW and Fractals every single month.
I hate PVP and I suck at it, yet i’m being forced to do it if I want the monthly.
Fractals are just plain stupid and grindy. Why force everyone to do only FotM and not any dungeons?

Discovering start points (just reaching the place, you don’t event need to make the first jump & you get one count for that. Nice!) for 30 jp is the easiest monthly achievement ever! The LA overflow trick works perfectly! Got it done within 10-15 minutes without spending any copper, while waiting for next dragon champ event. Thank you Anet!!!

Probably because its some of the only content there is if you want to pve especially if you aren’t all that interested in instances. It also is one of the few ways to earning coins. Most of the forge recipes call for 50 which would be either a crapton of $$ or 50 days of just completing the dailies. Even if you don’t want to get stuff from the forge the coins are a source of steady income which is lacking in this game if you don’t have a lot of time to invest or aren’t grinding speed clears.

I keep saying it I really wish they’d just reward you based on what you do each month towards the monthly. So if you complete 90% of it you get 90% of the rewards. You can then choose to only do the stuff you find fun and leave the rest. I’m tired of all or nothing systems. My time is worth something even if I don’t make first place.

As soon as they add those fixes to the fractals like they said they would (such as that system to allow anybody to enter any higher level fractal without problems), such problems will probably not exist anymore.
