I ended up burning my Liquid Karma on Tuesday because I figured it wouldn’t be changed, but I still had my boosters. The rollback apparently didn’t hit me, as I still have the karma from chugging all my jugs and such. I’m unsure if we were supposed to lose the karma from the liquid consumption and gain the jugs back, or something else. It would be really helpful if we could get info on exactly what is/was supposed to happen, as I’m a bit confused now.

We are in the same boat.

Same here … I used all my hoarded karma items right after the karma nerf patch (when everyone started opening these threads). I’m supposed to be reimbursed somehow, right?

I just got a in game mail with karma kegs from Anet Support, ty for bothering to sort this out. It didn’t quite cover all of what I lost but it was a pretty huge chunk of it anyway.

Thanks.

You get an ingame mail with Karma consumables roughly equal in value to the karma you ‘lost’ by not having a booster active while the update was in effect (so if you used 10,000 karma worth of consumables over the last couple of days you should get about 5,000 karma worth of consumables).

I really wished that they would’ve gave a heads up… Used my boosts without knowing about this lost a bit of gems and a lot of karma!

I had just gotten my first Karmic Infusion for 10 Laurels the day before this last set of new content was released with the intent of boosting my Karma gain 15% therein after. Now that it doesn’t affect my consumables I’ve been holding on to for so long I personally would have rather spent those 10 Laurels on Ascended gear. Will there be any compensation for this?

Good day; I’m one of the players who spend their entire stockpiled Karma on the patchday, right after finding out about your Karma change. I’ve just received the compensation via the in-game mail. (go check yours if you’re on the same boat)

I have to say I’m very impressed and happy about your quick, nearly immediate reaction on the faux-pas with the unannounced Karma change. This is exactly the kind of professional behavioud I’d like to see from any company – gaming or not – after having done a mistake (and errare humanum est)

To everyone else it can be a hint to be just a little more patient before starting to whine, as things did get clarified within hours of patch, and sorted out within 2 days.

This is totally our fault, we dropped the ball on this plain and simple. We planned to have this messaged ahead of time to be fair to everyone, communication broke down between those who knew it was supposed to be messaged, and those who were supposed to message it and it simply didn’t happen.

As game director this is ultimately my fault first and foremost, and I’m sorry for those who potentially lost some karma as a result. It is our policy to message these kind of changes ahead of time with lots of warning, I’ll do everything possible to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future.

I’d recommend not using your karma consumables yet, give us a day or two to try and see what options we have available to help mitigate the issue.

Impressive reply. This is why I love GW2.

Quick question:
I just logged into forums and at this is what welcomed me:
Hi everybody,
Today we made adjustments to karma where the amount of karma granted from consumable karma items was increased and karma boosts no longer affected the amount of karma gained from consumable items.
We intended to message this change ahead of time to be fair to everyone, however this did not happen, and we apologize for not giving you advance notice.
The lack of advance warning resulted in some people losing out on karma that they would have otherwise gained by using boosts with the karma they’d saved up.
We will be temporarily rolling back the karma change in a hotfix to allow people the opportunity to turn in their karma with any buffs they intended to use. This temporary rollback will be in effect until the game update on September 3.
Please note, while this temporary rollback is in effect: the in-game text for the karma consumabkitten oster found on the Gem Store will incorrectly state that it does not affect karma gained from consumable items.
We will also be reimbursing the people who used their karma during the period when the initial change was in effect with as close to the correct amount of karma as possible.
We’re really sorry about the frustration this caused and we will make every effort in the future to make you aware of changes like this ahead of time.

Now… Am I the only one, who after the nerf… consumed all their karma jugs in anger, and now it seems that I shouldn’t have, because if I waited one day I would have gotten the boost.
Now this is outrageous. The answers were kind and I appreciate it. First fault was not announcing things ahead of time and they did not announce the solution in time….
This way, I used up all my karma without the boosts and completely got the worst possible outcome of this nerf AND the hotfix.

Self-quoting. If you didn’t receive yours yet, then expect it soon I guess.

This message has a replacement item for you (or another character on your account). If the items belong to another character, please log in with that character to accept.
Enjoy!

Enclosed: 133 Jugs of Liquid Karma and 6 Drops of Liquid Karma. I didn’t do any maths regarding “how much Karma did I actually potentially lose by drinking it down”, but it seems about right so I’m totally fine with it.

Patience!

People need to learn to read announcements beyond the first paragraph. The complaint in this post was resolved before it was even posted…

I would like to point out that that people who where saving up karma where probly doing it to convert karma to gold using boosters and get free loadstones in the process doing so would convert 1mil karma to about 60g but with lodestone price drop due to champ boxes honestly amount of g you could make drastically dropped so nerf really wasn’t necessary. cant wait for exotic mini mystic forging saved up all my Balthazar priests waiting for that.
