Kiel Replacement Movement
Kiel is wasting time and tax money
Kiel Replacement Movement
Please rebuild, I’m really getting tired of a destroyed hub. It was cool when it happened, and it was cool for a few months after, but 8 months of rubble is very annoying. Please give us a significantly rebuild LA for Wintersday!
There needs to be a massive rebuilding event with all of the races sending in their best labor forces and engineers for a final huge organized effort at rebuilding. Lion’s Arch is a symbol of unity for all races.
Most of what is currently being rebuilt is happening in the background. We’re not a part of it. We should be.

So, what happened to the LA treasury? When Scarlet invaded, the city’s worthies used it to pay Evon to smuggle them out, along with all their valuables. Now, there’s no money and no tax base. Evon, of course, just gets richer, and he’s no longer interested in LA politics because LA is basically a non-factor on the face of Tyria.
That’s how I’d write it, at least.
You know full well this would have turned out very differently if a Charr had been in charge. Someone who understands not just commerce, but how to DEFEND what you have gained as well. Someone who understands that wealth and progress means nothing if you cannot defend and protect it.
Someone like Evon Gnashblade.
I kinda like it more that way. Colors and all. If they ever rebuild it, i hope they won’t just bring back old LA.

it wont be the old la, too many cliffs/buildings have been destroyed

Don’t blame me. I voted for Gnashblade.

You can blame me… I was inactive during the election and to be honest I regret letting that human get elected.

I definitely agree that the bridges need to be fixed. I’ve fallen through the holes on those bridges more times than I care to admit. Its a public safety hazard. Heck, if you can’t fix them proper at least board the darn holes up.
I even have a solution. Get the guard for the safe to do it. The safe is completely EMPTY at this point and yet there’s still a guard there kicking anyone who comes near. Have him kick some boards onto the bridges instead. Surely the safety of the people who carelessly fall to their deaths is more important than the security of an empty safe.
Sure, because pooling resources into building when there’s a Dragon on the lose still tearing crud up??? ReCharrican’s, always putting what they want before the greater good. #smh
there have been dragons on the loose for hundreds of years – the pact were created to do exactly that, why should an entire city go to ruin because one more dragon woke up, all we need to do is use fireworks – it worked on zhaitan
what happened to those supplies that we got from the zephyrites? where did they go? in fact, nevermind becoming the mayor, we need to make a guild/organisation that are there for relief, fixing up lions arch, cleaning up fallout from the tower of nightmares, helping scrub the lake, sending food to the villages affected. not only that, but sending troops to clear out orr and exterminate the undead, helping the zephyrites by giving them shelter/helping to rebuild their airships. the pact can get the glory for killing overgrown lizards, but we will get the continued support of the masses by being there for them once the pact move out and forget them

I hope they don’t rebuild it. I’d like to see the money donated at the Pavilion to be used for portals into zones the populace can’t get to yet. I’d call the funding proposal, “The Expansion”.
+1
Repair the holes in the bridges!!!

Someone like Evon Gnashblade.
You mean someone who defends by running away (and who also left LA citizens behind by closing the stargate)? Yeah we really need him for mayor.
Please give us a keyring…
I was also wondering about this myself. It seems as though every time I go to Lions Arch it seems like the progress made with repairs is underwhelming to say the least. Are these workers union? state? government? Not only that, I do not see any sort of project management QA-ing any of their work. How do we know any of these repairs are up to code? I also noticed that there is not one sign letting you know that there is any construction under way. I have actually fallen through the holes on the bridges twice but I have no project manager or city official to express my concerns to!! Is there a city council member that I can at least voice my concern and utter outrage for such an unorganized attempt at improving high traffic areas of Lion’s Arch?
If anyone is interested I will be creating a petition for safer conditions for all citizens and non citizens of Lion’s Arch during the reconstruction of our beloved city.

Gnashblade wouldnt have made it better, he is the main supplier for the building materials and would have simply sold way overpriced stuff. And about the money of the bank: Either the Skritt stole it already or the Bank Of Lionsarch (BAL) simply reclaimed whats rightfully theirs.
I would think that people simply dont want to live in LA anymore and thats why rebuilding is going so slow. After all you dont want to live in a place where some maniac vegetable has fired up some WMDs right?
People seem to forget that Kiel was insistent that the Council improve defenses in LA, including air defenses, but that Magnus blew her off.
I heard a rumor that Kiel blew all of our tax money on ToT bags during the halloween festivities while trying to get a Gwynefyrdd. I think she should be impeached.
Commander Talon’s Ghost for mayor 2015.
Serves you right for electing a human over Charr. Had Evon been elected LA would’ve been fixed by now, and free grilled asura offered to visitors.

you can run for captain’s council – i’ll help you commandeer an airship from the aetherblades to serve as your ship/to help in reconstruction (cant let the huge hunks of metal drop onto civilians now) and i will form the relief organisation to help fix/raise awareness for disasters caused by terrorists/criminals/dragons

This might be an amusing thread, but the huge chunks of metal are staying put(that’s a fact), they’re much to large to be removed. So you’re going to have to rebuild around them, work them into the architecture of the new, improved LA, which of course should begin with the infrastructure(bridges, walkways, etc.). However, since 35k of the 45k population was killed during the attack, all workers will have to be brought in from outside sources(and we know how easy that is).

Much like real politics, the politics in-game bore me beyond dissatisfaction. I voted for Evon for the sole purpose of buying a hoard of cheap Black Lion Keys. I couldn’t care less about what else happened from my decision.

There are lots of ways to move them, so I’d be careful about throwing around strong words like “that’s a fact.” Granted it would be an undertaking, but not insurmountable. A few examples would be
- Asura tech can levitate an entire city, so why couldn’t the same tech be adapted to move large metal chunks
- Charr ingenuity is legendary and they have very large equipment themselves. I’d suggest they could cut the large metal chunks into more manageable pieces
- A group of airships could work together to harness and airlift them out
That said, the cost and resources may not be worth it if they can build it into the architecture so that part of your idea isn’t without merit and may actual be cool. I’m just not convinced they don’t at least have options.
However, since 35k of the 45k population was killed during the attack, all workers will have to be brought in from outside sources(and we know how easy that is).
How about a story line where Kiel’s agents quietly slip over to Southsun and convince the poor settlers there to jump to LA? Then she swoops in with her airship and gives them all a lift, leaving the Consortium hosed and getting LA more of the help it needs.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

I dont think that this will happen since LA is way more dangerous than Southsun Cove. At least you know what will kill you in Southsun Cove.

I don’t know, I think if they got the charr to help they could salvage it and build Lion’s Arch into a new Black Citadel, there’s certainly enough metal there.
I`ll be fine with a slow rebuild, as long as they finaly fix the kitten bridges and get some of the rubble away.
If they can redecorate whole Lions Statues for Halloween, then they can do that -_-
btw. fix the Lion on Lion`s square… it is a symbol. It should take priority as a sign of Lion`s Archs resistance
We’ve elected Kiel to be on the captain’s council but that’s still a council with many members. My guess is the captains are distributing the money between themselves to be able to afford the newest asura airship or Divinity’s Reach condo. Perhaps we should go on the streets and chant:
- WHAT DO WE WANT?
- FIXED HOLES!
- WHEN DO WE WANT IT?
- RIGHT NOW!
PS: Taxes are being collected by a certain Evon Gnashblade who must be filthy rich by now. Taking his share of everything that is being traded in the world…
It seems the biggest waste of money is in fixing Lion’s Arch at all. It’s like starting reconstruction in an earthquake-devastated area when the aftershocks are still coming, except instead of aftershocks you have waypoint-crushing vines that nobody seems to care about.
You know what Lion’s Arch needs? A Colossus. That’s what the people of Rhodes did when their enemies left tons of bronze lying around, they built a big honking statue. LA should melt down all those drill bits and make a gigantic statue of something, maybe a lion. Big enough you can climb inside and see out the eyes. Maybe it even bridges the harbor.

Can you say ‘tourist trap’?
Lion’s Arch will be fixed in no time at all with that money.
Did someone have a sudden unplanned encounter with the lion’s arch harbor?
For all we know the bridge repair funds are working their way through a committee and the bridge will probably never see a dime for years. That said that one girl seems to be incapable of patching the hole right next to the fort. She’s been hammering away at it for weeks.
Remember that presidents don’t actually have power. Their job is to draw attention away from it.
I warned you all about this last year. Also:
You didn’t elect Evon, expect no sympathy from him.
Kiel has to resign. This is now corruption. She probably packed all the donation onto her airship and gone. The LA workers are just acting. Meanwhile Evon improved the trading post, although that is to attract more trading, thus bigger profit from trading fee, it is still beneficial to all Tyria citizen.

You mean like the gold to gem conversion? Yeah real improvement…
I voted for Evon.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
What do you guys say… shall we dethrone Kiel?
Here here, Getefix.9150! I concur! Yes, I often bring newbies to the ruins of Lion’s Arch and explain how beautiful it used to be … sadly they look around and ask me why nobody has done anything about repairing it or rebuilding. So yes, I would like to see it returned to a version of it’s former splendor. If Tyria was a real world, we would have seen merchants moving in, construction being conducted and trading and commerce returning to the shores once more. This would in turn cause things to move forward. Demolition of the towers with emphasis on rebuilding. So why isn’t this happening?
for the huge chunks of steel – , guys, WE HAVE MAGIC – concentrate fire magic and you have a high powered laser cutter, not to mention that even if we couldnt do that with magic, the tech is still there – remember the huge freaking laser that only got one shot off at Zhaitan? – make a smaller, long lasting beam and you can slice right through, just make sure to attach it to an airship first so it doesn’t fall and crush citizens, we don’t need many workers, just funding, as i stated before, I am an Asura of the Synergetics college…. simple worker golems are easy to build and simpler to maintain – seriously, you dont have to feed them and they can work 24/7 – I’m starting to think that the workers we currently have are just illusions

Evon is selfish, self-centered, and only cares about himself and his money. Yes I know that sentence is redundant.
I still stand strong by Ellen Kiel.

Plot twist: Kiel is brainwashed Scarlet, let her sneak in the Crown Pavilion. Provide scarlet watchknights for alteration. Lead scarlet into LA and wake Mordremoth up. Scarlet finished her goal and not needed anymore so Kiel let us kill Scarlet leaving no evidence behind. She then grabs all the donation to LA and sails in her luxury airship.

^^^ sounds very plausible.
here is my idea for a logo to represent the tyrian relief fund (name pending)
Kiel Replacement Movement
Sorry but I cannot resist – that is an excellent logo, but given how the reconstruction work is going surely the banner logo should be a large sign marked “no union labor permitted on site” (back in character as Arcos Shiningpaw, the unofficial Charr Diplomatic Corpse (sic) to Lion’s Arch) I must admit that I do not trust Evon Gnashblade and frankly have always suspected him of lining his own pockets … and yes, even though she is a human, I voted for Kiel.

That’s not resigning, that’s “early retirement”.
