Largos as a playable race?
A:
I love the idea of the Great Houses and would love to see more of their culture.
Only the Tethyos Houses are mentioned and their motto seems a bit limiting for playable characters.
They would be my number one choice as a new playable race- also under water region whoo-hoo.
Underwater combat would have to be overhauled though because not everyone plays an Engi :p
Yes, please. I’ve been saying for a while that I absolutely want to see Largos as a playable race. Make it happen Anet! I’ll give you cookies!
Largos and Tengu are the only races I see that have a big chance to become playable in the future, specially Tengu.
Make a Largos sounds really awesome, and I love the voice acting of them.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Better not. The Largos that appear in game are great and very mysterious – and that is their whole point. Turning them into a player race will totally “uncoolify” them into one of the guys.
Largos seem boring so far.
In your opinion. I find them interesting.
Imagine an underwater capital for Largos – no other game could actually boast something that epic.
Largos, Tengu and Kodans – please!

Sylvari are very mysterious and totally awesome- having them as a playable race only made them cooler and gives them depth.
I don’t think the Largos- cool factor would diminish- if anything knowing how they actually operate would make them less cliche " killler/vampire/fairy /drow/assasin"
The Largos that appear are only one faction among the houses- those that belong to the Tethyos Compact- so they follow the same principles.
That strongly implies that there is more to their society than just “track it; kill it; and bring proof.”
NO.
We don’t know anything about this race! And from what I’ve heard, they’re all evil! So it wouldn’t fit.
Anet said “no Kodan”, besides they share ancenstry with norn, they ARE norn.
Tengu were in the game already(Pre-Alpha) and stone Dwarves would be the only other acception
No they aren’t evil. Because you don’t know much about the race they shouldn’t be put in? That’s incredibly silly. There’s a lot of potential for creating new, great lore with the Largos.
Imagine how much possibilities (lore-wise as well as aesthetic!).
To be honest.
ANet has so much lore they could work on. And I mean stuff that’s left unexplained/veiled in mystery from GW1 that I don’t feel that much excited by these Largos bunch.
There’s so much more that I’d like to know about other, older stuff.

Not everyone played Guild Wars 1.
Are the Largos those Dark Elf Emo Manta Ray dudes?
Are the Largos those Dark Elf Emo Manta Ray dudes?
Aye.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
I would love to play a largos!! They look so awesome and there is so much i want to know about them.
NO! Next race should be quaggan.
I was to see an army of quaggans assault SM.
Also …
- quaggan with a greatsword
- quaggan with a flamethrower
Are the Largos those Dark Elf Emo Manta Ray dudes?
Aye.
They look cool. have to admit that.
I definitively want to learn more about the largos… but some things I see difficult of them being a playable race.
1st: Underwater combat… I really REALLY want lots more underwater content, and the idea of massive underwater cities is really appealing to me… BUT a large redesign of underwater combat needs to happen before that. At the very least add more underwater weapons so we have more choices, and/or allow us to have both an over the water and underwater build that automatically changes when going underwater. My flamethrower engineer, for example, several of his traits and gear are directly related to the flamethrower… which I can use underwater, rendering them useless.
2nd: Largos gear: Big part of what makes them cool is the aura of mistery around them, dark armor, masks that don’t let you see their faces and so on. Picture largos as they look now… cool looking… now picture one wearing a hot pink feathered set (http://argos-soft.net/GW2/ArmorGallery/index.php?color=10&sex=0&race=2&w=1&skinID=featheri&lang=en) or a bright colored magician set (http://argos-soft.net/GW2/ArmorGallery/index.php?color=10&sex=0&race=2&w=1&skinID=bdi&lang=en)… not so cool anymore..
3rd Skills: One big thing about Largos is how they can become invisible for seemingly long periods of time (the one in the living story was there for a long time listening to a conversation IIRC), so it would make sense for it to be a racial skill for them. Invisibility is one of the big things thieves do, and they’re more or less balanced around it… now imagine other classes with access to invisibility at any time (imagine stealth warriors sneaking behind you before attacking, for example).
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
I would love this, actually. Largos are a very intriguing and mysterious race. I would not be surprised if they were actually what became of the Orrian people after it sank, due to the Vizier’s magic?
Shame they are only one dimensional hunters for sake of hunting challenging opponants… and nothing else. That is not intriguing, its shallow and sufficient for their role as event antagonists or ally vs badder boss (like zhaitan minion). Their very narrow lore and narrow fields of interest make them poor as a potential player race. There are far more races that have greater lore and greater potential to intergrate as a player race with same goals as established playable races.

that is simply not true- only one faction of the Great Houses focuses on track, kill and bring proof.
Those happen to be the only Faction we meet as NPC’s.
Nothing suggests that it is the focus of the entire race

Largos, Tengu and Kodans – please!
Actually you have a great point…it would mean that players would have to pay more attention to their underwater gear. But also, the option of crafting underwatergear would have to be more available (instead of only weapons players should be able to make their own breathing masks and maybe even some added stuff ! )
The Largos parts in the story were the most fun, the few times you bump into them in the world is cool also (SP)… they would definitely be my first pick as a playable race.. I also don’t think they would loose much mysterious factor, only enrich the game.. Similar to the Sylvari.
Largos – humans with blue skin and wings.
Extremely boring.
Pllllease ArenaNet. They got to be the most badkitten race in Tyria, I see absolutely no reason they should not be a playable race.
There is one. They are just a hodgepodge of cheap cliches thrown together, revolving around a single theme (which itself is a cheap cliche). They are not the most badkitten race in Tyria – they are The Most Badkitten Race In Tyria™. Meaning, that they are only “badkitten” because we’re told they are. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work – they are too much onedimensional for a possible player race.
Seriously, underwater flying drow ninja from a secret society of assassins? Wearing SM outfits? Seems like a content addressed for 12 yrs old (okay, maybe not the SM outfit part). And someone wants them as a player race?
Please, just no.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I would love Largos as playable race. From all races Largos and Tengu makes most sense to be add to the game.Largos are mysterious and vary “assassin type”,would be really prefer’d by thiefs. Also,Largos town as well as map would be underwater which would be soo great,so unique, something that hes not been done in any MMO so far.
+ 1 for this idea.
As ANet always say, nothing is off the table. Time will tell.

I know this could be considered necro’ing an old post, but I’m gonna reply anyway :p
First of all, I love this idea.
Imagine the next expansion pack being an underwater expansion, where the underwater combat gets reworked, the underwater dragon (referred to as ‘Bubbles’ or ‘Steve’) gets revealed and you can play as one of the Largos. That’d be so coool
Now see, I think the idea for Largos as a playable race is excellent, seeing as their models allow for the same armor as Sylvari and Humans, making little to no changes to it.
Also, many of the arguments made against Largos could also possibly be made against other of the currently avaible races such as Charr or Sylvari.
