I want to play a game. 1g to the first person to take a picture with the same background and post it here. Then, if you so desire, you can do the same as I am doing. If this becomes something that a lot of people get involved in, I would like to propose some rules.
Rule 1: Pictures can be taken ANYWHERE in GW2.
Rule 2: It must be possible to figure out where you are from your picture (no screenshots of a wall/corner/ground/cloud/anything that is unreasonably vague)
Rule 3: If at least three people agree that a picture is unreasonably vague, that picture is disqualified and anyone may feel free to post the next picture.
Rule 4: Do not post a picture unless you have solved the previous one or there have been three votes agreeing that the previous picture is unreasonably vague.
Rule 5: This game is based on an honor system. Please respect that and if you post a picture, be prepared and willing to send a gold to whomever solves it.
Rule 6: The use of Watchwork Portal Devices is strictly prohibited. Please keep the fun rolling and don’t use them.

Atop the mushroom of splotchy texture.

This is delightful, keep it up. I’ve got too little of the map completed to do it, but it’s still awesome.

Yeah I’m not going to be mean like that last guy and take a screen in a place that requires the use of a specific class/weapon combination just to reach. Can’t even get the exact same angle and FoV without your character also being a Norn because of the differences in camera positoning with a zoom.

Easy peasy. Did take me awhile to find the right angle though.

For my entry, I promise I didn’t use any portal guns or fancy tricks. Although getting to the spot might be tricky…dunno. I got to it with one good leap of faith.

Haha same. It took me the better part of my playtime, but I finally figured out exactly where you took that picture. I was convinced for a good while you were in Mount Maelstrom.

Unfortunately I have no idea how you got up there. Is there a way to climb the buildings or did you go out of map?

And I think Arikyali was referring to an actual leap of faith, not the Guardian skill… since his character that took the picture is a Mesmer (light armor + greatsword).

Yep, it was a figurative leap of faith. Not the literal one. XD Nicely done.

Ahahah I did it! I cheated the system, but I did it! Didn’t need Savage Leap though… so I’m guessing there’s a less stupid way to get there than the way I did.

Anyway, let’s dial it back a bit. Next one is easier.

It’s not unfindable. Look in the details. this definitely feels like Caledon. But those aren’t houses, so you can avoid the small downs. Look in the background. That’s rock. There are also “god rays,” so that leads me to believe this is possibly in a cave. Now begins the hunt. The only one i can’t get to so far is Jitendra’s >.<

Ah Ok, thanks. Guess I have some work to do.

Have some ideas where to look. The one I came up with isn’t going to be too hard to find I don’t think. It’s just something I never stood on before and then remembered this post and thought I’d get a picture.

Wow, no one’s found it yet? I know it’s a good spot, but I didn’t think it was that unknown. It’s one of my favorite hangouts.

I know that style is Nightmare Court architecture, but I can’t seem to find it.

This location is in one of the Krytan maps. That means it is somewhere in: Queensdale, Kessex Hills, Gendarran Fields, Harathi Hinterlands, Bloodtide Coast, or Southsun Cove.

In the interest of this game continuing I’m gonna vote skip. Can’t for the life of me find it.

Wha? Why?! The rules said skips if the picture was too vague, and that is most certainly not vague at all. Keep looking, dangit.

I’ll give another hint. This area is very well hidden, but it does not require any special skills or items to get to. No jumps, no leaps over chasms, nada. All it requires is a very keen eye.

At first glance, you would not even notice….the entrance to this alcove.

if it’s only krytan areas, then i’d probably say either kessex hills, or bloodtide coast, based on the sylvari buildings.. i’m giving it a look now, but i dunno if i’ll be able to find it (haha i have 100% map completion and still haven’t explored everything ;P)

EDIT: still searching… thinking bloodtide coast? honestly just looking for nightmare court/sylvari at all. still haven’t figured it out though (not gonna say more hints are a good idea, buuutt…. ;P)

DOUBLE EDIT: i give up for now. i have stuff to do, bed that need my head. I might continue the search tomorrow, if it doesn’t get found by then. on a slightly unrelated note, while searching i passed by the quaggan hatchery in bloodtide coast. i never noticed the quaggan calves followed you! totally adorable.

Geez that was hard, I almost didn’t see the entrance.

Anyway, here’s jitendra’s new spot, but I’m tired of all these Maguuma locations, so let’s go somewhere else.

Just hug the cliff face until you find the tiny little entrance. It’s easier to spot if you’re heading southward.

The jump in question was an extremely out there jump that I also died three times getting to. :p

dang! i explored the area above and below that very thoroughly, but never thought to check in the less jungy area… :S

This is amazing!! I check back every day to find all of the locations you all post and it is so much fun ^.^ thank you everyone for playing along with me and keep it up. My favorite entry so far is Jitendra’s latest entry. Very beautiful. Most of these really are gorgeous. I may post another entry soon if I find something challenging and beautiful enough to compete.
