I just did Frozen Maw on my lvl. 8 necromancer with a lot of other players and got an “Eternal Ice” from the chest which requires lvl. 80.

Is that a bug or working as intended? I also got a lvl. 39 spear.

that should be a bug. chest rewards should scale accordingly to your level!

I’d say, “Congratulations!” Either put it in your bank, to use when you can, or put it on the Trading Post for some nice gold. You probably should have gotten items more your level, but frankly this sounds like the fabled “bank error in your favor.”

I was going to say, if you have a chance to get an exotic, even at lvl 8 then you get an exotic. BUT I realized that lvl65 is the lowest lvl of exotics so that would have been the appropriate drop when your char rolled the exotic rarity from RNG.
Maybe named exotics are lvl80 only. I never checked to be sure. Congrats

Got that thing on my 80. The stats are horrible, I think it is just wrongly labeled as level 80 item.

I got a level 42 item out of that chest when I was only 21 yesterday.
