Levels 1-60 are boring.
I have 7 level 80’s that were boosted from tomes of knowledge and scroll of experience. PvP awards sufficient amount of levels.
I have 9 level 80’s and xp is easy enough to get as it is. Form a guild leveling group, pop xp boosters/buffs and explore/clear maps. Focus on mobs off the beaten path and fight mobs a few levels above you.
Meta events also grant a ton of XP if you pick the right ones. You can gain almost an entire level doing Tequatl.
Gather everything you see. Craft if you feel like it. Do a different story path from your other alts.
It’s just too easy as it is.
I disagree. I personally enjoy the speed of levelling as it is. If something like you suggest were added, it would have to be optional, otherwise it would punish players who like the current system as it is.
think is cant you already lvl from pvp at lvl2?
Used to be fun, I used to love making alt’s. Not anymore though and it’s not burnout.
I would love to have the option, that when you gain a level on a level 80 character, you could “save” this level for an alt instead of earning a skill point.
It would solve the “switching character at the end of the dungeon” thing, and you’d still have a choice.
It would only work with a level 80 character anyways, which is sort of proof, that you were able to level in the first place.
I have no idea, why ANet has not yet implemented this idea.

Making the levelling process faster is not the right way to go about it.
Levelled 6 to 80 gave up on 7 and 8 as I’d got so bored of questing by then as I didn’t take any short cuts (i.e. via crafting).
Levelling was actually fun the first few characters, extremely bored on 7 and 8 as by then it was just going through the motions as done and seen it all before.
But why speed up levelling and ruin the experience for new/newer players to the game just because you’ve done all the quests a few times already.
The ways to level are the following:
-character switch at the end of dungeons
-heart quests/exploration
-pvp knowledge tomes
-dungeons (story mode)
-WvW
…and:
-craft, gather, DE, EotM, play ALL the dungeon with the same pj and not change only at the end, PS, guild missions…
In fact, I think the only thing that does not give you experience in this game is to log in.
The ways to level are the following:
-character switch at the end of dungeons
-heart quests/exploration
-pvp knowledge tomes
-dungeons (story mode)
-WvWThe issue is that heart quests get boring the third time through, and are very slow levelling. Events are inconsistent so you can’t really rely on them for levelling. PvP tomes are not frequent enough. In games like Rift you play a few or maybe more PvP games and it’s enough XP to level up.
Dungeons don’t become available until level 30, but 1-30 is the slowest and most boring of all. Even at level 30, AC story mode gets very old the 10th time through on one character.
WvW is inconsistent. If you find a big zerg of people it’s reasonable levelling, but often it’s a lot of getting zerged ON. Even in a good group it’s very slow.
My solution: the game is old now, and lots of the main part of the game starts at level 80.

It’s just really tedious to get a character to where the game actually starts lev 80)
With all due respect :
It is perfectly possible to stockpile leveling tomes, skill scrolls and gold with your main characters(s) then create a level 1 toon and skyrocket it to level 80 with all atttributes unlocked.
Don’t be ridiculous. You ALREADY have ALL the TOOLS to bypass the leveling phase.
Besides, I recently created a ranger and I find it interesting to actually DO all the dungeons with my low level ranger just to learn how to use it properly in dungeons and to step away from the bearbow cliché.
Switching toons, while faster does not teach you how to master a new class.
What is boring and what is not is strictly in the eyes of the beholder. I, for example, do not find levels 1-60 boring at all. I have 14 characters too, mind, so I think I have the experience and the right to speak towards this.

You have the same right as anyone else.
I levelled 6 within 2 months so 7 and 8 were more boring than they would have been if it was spread out over a much longer period.
But it is true some people handle boredom better than others.

There’s your problem right there. It’s time people got rid of that old-school MMO mentality and the tired notion that “end-game” is the only game.
I started a Thief this week. Day one was level 0 to 20. Day two level 20 to 30. Some hearts can be boring, I skipped those and will go back at level 80 when I start the exploration. Best guess about 16 to 18 hours of play with breaks.
It is too easy to level up. I would rather it took longer.

Best guess about 16 to 18 hours of play with breaks.
A full work week is 38 hours for most people… then comes family/work at home and finally you have that little bit of time for yourself, unless you’re too tired at the evening to bother logging in. Happily I do not have a full time job + a family to take care of. I study at university and I still have busy weeks where I log in maybe 3 hours in a whole week.
So yeah I totally understand people who say leveling is too slow, because for them (and occasionally for me too) you don’t want to spend that 1 hour of pleasure doing something you dislike: i.e. leveling. Instead you want to get the fullest enjoyment out of your time, and then you get a hate toward leveling.
Oh yeah, not to mention: those 18 hours you speak of would take the aforementioned people close to 2 full months.

Then I would suggest not creating alts for those that are PvE oriented and to stay in HotM for those that are PvP oriented. Wanting something and expecting to get it just because you want it, and not because you worked at it, is illogical.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to compare with other games.
I think any game seems too slow if available playtime is low.
I would certainly say GW2 is the fastest levelling game I can think of. Guildwars was also very fast but with a low level cap.
Maybe better to say that lowish levels are boring. a level 20 dungeon or two would help, ones which could be completed with level 20 characters with level 20 gear and level 20 skills/traits of course.
Also worth saying that when starting a new profession it can be good to have time to learn skills and weapons as you level up.
The birthday rewards allowing you to start a character at level 20 might feel good to some. Probably a popular sale for Gems if it isn’t there already (can’t login right now.
As an aside my wife had to go away for a weekend on a work thing. I had the time. ÇDont want to sound like a complete nerd

Find a girlfriend that levels your alts while you’re not able to. It works for me. lol
I wouldn’t mind if it took long to level if the entire game wasn’t saved for level 80…
Getting to 80 just seems like a pre-game thing.
By the way what witchcraft are you guys using to get fast tomes? Or how long do you play PvP? On average how many minutes of PvP before you get a tome?
Agree. From levels 1 to 30 you’re unlocking skills, so it’s OKAY but not particularly exciting because of the limited number of skills. Then from 30 to 60 all you have to mess around with are adept level traits, so only barely fun. Then finally at 60 you get master level traits and then it finally gets a little more interesting. But it doesn’t get super fun until level 80.

Let me just say I love you’re idea! +100000
But Anet would never ever implement this system with their recent redesign of the leveling process. It’s clear to me they want people to level the old fashion way.

Then ANet is making a mistake. If I can level my other chars by playing my main, they will be sooner or later be 80.
- ANet wants people to play, if I could level my twinks by playing my main, I would play more
- if all slots are taken with lvl80s, I’d probably buy more character slots
- if I have more characters at 80, I would have more variety to play, which would make me play more
- if I have more characters I play, I would want to buy more outfits for them
.

There are countless reasons for ANet to implement this. I am just no longer in the mood to play the same old same or following the zerk in EotM for leveling.
