I think it would probably be best for Arena to do what Trion does: own up to this major screwup, give a chest to every player (who had an account before the event, of course) and stop alienating their fan base.

So, 2.5 hours of my sleep down the drain…. A broken event, a disconnected client, no reward.
I will not send any complaint or a support ticket.
I will just remind myself to stay away from ‘’one time only’’ events.
Darn… i’ll just stay away from GW all together…….

Well, I still have not received anything. Is the script still running ? Or is it already finished ? Because if so, I’ve been screwed

It would be cool if we get list of criteria who is actually getting these chests in mail. I have spent ~2 hours there and got DCed while we’ve been moving towards the nest with ancient karka (event before final boss).

I simply can’t fathom why they decide to run such a thing after they go home from their normal days work. Instead of when they start working so they can actually handle issues before going home. To me it seems they simply have no clue about managing a community.

I fear for the worst – lots of people still haven’t received it and I’m definately on that list

Although I do give props to Anet for coming through on their promise… so I’ll wait until tommorrow to see what happens?

The lack of communication is astonishing in general… If complete transparency over the processes (events problems, significative bugs, or this mail/script nonsense) was applied, there will be less complaints, less alienation and much more comprehension among the players because terms like “don’t worry” or “Be patient” or “Don’t panic” always have the opposite effects: much worries, lack of patience and lots of panic

13 hours after the announcement and my mail is still empty.

My situation was not a D/C, i spent 2.5 hours doing the event, and when we almost approached the couple final phases i got stuck under terrain, and i was in combat so i had to relog, i came back to find myself in an overflow server that had already finished the event, and i couldn’t get back on my original sevrer, and as a result i missed everything including what the ancient karka dropped and the chest.

i’m not whining or anything, but you can understand the amount of frustration for not getting anything.

i hope everyone gets a reward.

I ended up doing some fractals after spending loads of time trying to do the event

That Anet don’t bother about us who tried to take part but basically got kicked in the head by a badly planned event execution feels really bad. We also deserves the loot.

Hey man it lagged for everyone else, and everyone else stayed. STAYING and trying being the key. The chest is only for those who tried, and got disconnected at the end. Not an hour before hand not two hours before hand,. ect,. not people who gave up and went somewhere else.

This is for people who put in the full effort.

That is so unfair…some got it twice, some got it who didnt participate a second on the event and some like me who got DC’ed, didnt get anything.

I have yet to receive mine….while some ppl received 2 for participating once or not at all. I was there and got d/ced…i couldn’t go back in.

I am profoundly disappointing if i won’t get that chest. The only answer CS gives me is “wait a bit longer”. Honestly this company is NOT doing it right. I want my chest..i stayed up till 5AM for that event because that’s how the event was “intelligently designed”. I dedicated my time to trying to finish that event even considering those conditions to only be left with a “just wait a bit longer”.

I call fraud.

I’d really like to know what the criteria for qualifying are.

I can’t help feeling it involves happenstance and randomness, judging from what I’ve been reading and hearing.

Didn’t recieve one too. Did the whole event though, DC’d at endphase when rezzing at a waypoint and getting stuck. (Using mac version, on EU desolation)

Best guess at the criteria I can make of the information available is such that ;

If you logged in with a character during a specified time period and did not loot the chest then you get a chest.

The most important part would be the – specified time period.

This would account for the people saying they didn’t log in for the event but got a chest or didn’t participate in the event and got a chest. They may have logged in at some point during the specified time period.

As for people getting 2 chests, that would be accounted for with the any character, thus the rewards are character bound not account bound.

Seems reasonable. For example I ran the event twice with the same character but only got 1 chest and do not expect to get a second (although I haven’t checked yet) as that character had already looted the chest.

A second example – Logged in with an alt but did not get to open chest – receive chest.

Third example – Logged in and played WvW completely ignoring the event – receive chest.

Those not receiving the chest I can only assume fell outside of the speicified time period for my theory to hold true.

As I said, best guess, obviously I could be well wide of the mark

Some people didn’t login at all during the weekend and now got a chest by email

Yeah i’d like to know aswell, it just seems so strange that people who managed to loot the chest in the 1st place (and in some cases more than once via overflow) somehow did meat the criteria for a chest.

Almost 2 hours of massive lag (1min cast time) and disconnect. Also nothing on my side.

I was also online during event but didn’t do it ‘cos my laptop doesn’t handle well big crowded places Didn’t get the chest. So I don’t really know what was the criteria or if mailing chest is over

Anyone from EU servers got the chest? all ppl i know in my guild and server not received the mail from Anet, maybe in EU servers the script is not done?

as far as the german server says, a lot got it there…also one stated the Support, telling him that when he didnt receive it yet, he did NOT qualify.

I was online during the event, got disconnected and couldn’t get back on untill the event had run it’s course, much, much later. No mail, nothing. I have to say i’m starting to loose faith here. But to me this fits in a very poorly executed event.

The support responses are clear….this is seriously happenening

oh man. I didn’t get any chest at all even though I participated in the event. My friend who slept through the event (it was at 4am in where I’m from) got the free chest. Some of my guildies who already gotten the chest from the event itself get this free chest again.

Seems like this really didn’t solve any probs at all. Those people who was suppose to get the chest from this didn’t get at all. And all those that not suppose to gotten it……

edit: Just read a couple of posts. Seems like the official response to anyone complaining is that you did not qualify for the chest. If that is so, why did my friend who slept through the event for all 3 days gotten it. He didn’t even complete the monthly that is suppose to kill 200 karka…….

I’m going to have faith in ANet not to be giving the chest out as weirdly as it sounds. A script that gives some people two and some none is just silly, and they know that. They are also aware that a HUGE part of the backlash was due to the fact that people were unable to play at that time for real life reasons, and the bias towards North America. I do not think they would then go on to base the script on logging in at that time, as that only makes the problem worse.

What I do find strange however is the lack of clear communication on this. They must have predicted that the fanbase would tell each other and there’d be loads of wild speculation and emotional responses to this. I can’t think of any good reason not to lay out a clear message, as this is simply going to result in HUNDREDS of “Where’s my chest?” e-mails.

i think Anet in each direction move he falling down, if they send mail to all account i think a lot of ppl rage about fair or unfair, if they send at the account logged at the Event time but not loot chest a lot of ppl rage about fair or unfair…. so i think they decide to send it at random ppl XD so now they have a random rage, and sure iim one of random guy who not have the chest via mail…. can i random rage?

That’s extremely disappointing Anet…. I seriously hope there’s a delay in the mailing system because that just ain’t right.

Same issue here. I did the event twice and did not get any reward. The first time the client crashed after a sound bug (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbdEc1sldQ8) right in front of the boss and I could not get the chest. The 2nd time I died and couldn’t spawn at the waypoint. After that the login problems started so I wasn’t able to play for another 2h… So far no one in my guild (~500 players in the guild) got the chest. Whether I get the chest later or not I am highly disappointed. I was expecting a high quality game after playing Guild Wars 1 for years…

Besides that I still have the items I got in phase 1 (I think it was phase 1). Can I destroy them now?

I’m a hardcore Arena fan and a total Guild Wars fanboi, but seriously, this is a disaster. Arena need to learn customer relations with other companies like Trion.

Trion, responsible for Rift, had issues on one of their first events. They didn’t really have to do anything, but they decided to reward every single character that had been created at the time of the event, with the rewards + achievements + title.

It’s bad enough that Arena decides to do a one time buggy event, when some are busy and unavailable, rewards those who attend with the best items in the game, allows them to do it several times, and now rubs salt in the wound and gives them an extra reward while others are left with nothing.

Actually if they send to everyone the chest, most people won’t be so angry. But the problem now is that people who didn’t deserve the chest are getting it (those who were not online at all) and those that were suppose to didn’t get it.

I’m not sure how Anet is going to fixed this problem. Most people who had received the chest had already sold/salvage those exotics and rares or even gotten their precursors. Are they going to ask them to delete those items again? (like that karma bug a couple of months ago) and tell the others to move on?

Worse still, if they didn’t tracked who they send the chest this time round and decided to give everyone a chest, then those undeserving people will be getting another chest again.

So am I to understand that I who was online trying to do the event do not get a chest, but, a guildmember who ignored it and did WvW all the time got one?

Like I said in the title I spend over 2 Hours on the Ancient Karka event. Yet I disconnected like many others. It was promised those who disconnected or attained at the event will be getting the rewards none the less in the near future.

So today I checked my in-game mail yet I did not receive anything at all, I repeat nothing.
My Inbox is empty. Although it seems that people who just logged in that day, not attaining at the event at all are getting the mail with the chest. What is going on here? some random lottery pickings?

I am on the European server Gunnar’s Hold. There are more people reporting within my guild and server that they are also not getting the reward.

This isn’t gaming breaking or destroying the fun playing the game, it leaves me a little disappointed.
My tip; No more one time events please.

After all they are not losing anything and with a lot of percursors around people will invest more money to get the mats to craft the legendary. Win-Win situation for everyone concerned.

You are right. Epic failures are as famous as epic successes..:)

I wish someone would step up and let us know in straight terms what was needed to qualify for the chest-by-mail. That way, I can decide if it’s worth opening a ticket, and make an actual case for myself if I do make a ticket.

“I didn’t get a chest but I think I maybe should”, that’s not the ticket I want to write.

That is great. So I (and probably a lot more players) got screwed twice – first getting a d/c at a random point of the Legendary Karka event and not being able to loot the chest then. Now a second time by not being eligible to get the mail with the reward. Still wonder how someone who was doing some random thing in the game or wasn’t even logged is more eligible then people who actually took their time to play this laggy mess they called an “epic event”.

Sorry Anet, I won’t let you screw me a third time.

More precursor = more competitive price on it = Skyrocket T6 material ( put material vendor like gw1 style so u can manage the market ) = OMG ALL in this server have legendary = LA full of rainbow

I have the same problem…

Two minutes away from killing the kitten thing, I die (nobody cares to rez) and I can’t waypoint and then I DC’ed.

Still haven’t gotten my reward yet

I did not mind not receiving anything from the event (hell i wans’t even online, so i expect nothing)
I was happy for people that did attend and got nice stuff…. however now,… giving people that where not online chests/double chests for people that got to loot.

I have no hope at all they can fix this now.
