Been playing for about a year and very activly. So far only one ascendant item dropped for me. Also the amount of exotic drops is very slim, usually a spoon. Its very easy to get your character exotic geared. The game stales a bit after you got them.

I’ve only gotten 2 ascended weapons through drops and no armor (not sure if this is possible, though) since they added ascended gear, but I’ve gotten quite a few ascended rings. Of course, we can craft weapons and armor, but it’s kinda pricey.

When I play a lot my drop rates take a dump.

When I stop for a week and come back there is a marked observed increase in rare & exotic drops.

Conspiracy theory? Maybe… Still a valid observation. I don’t care one way or the other – when I’m playing a lot I am doing so because the game is very fun to play at the time and the fun is often reward enough for me.

Gw2 has probably the worst drop tables from all MMO’s that I ever played. In other games when you did a WB or end game dungeon you were sure that something good would drop for at least 1 party member…in here, spoons for everybody.

Yeah there are many reasons why the loot on this game is so bad but it’s partly because of the pay model. Subscription MMOs dont really have the problem where they need to constantly push for incentivizing buying gold but instead just to buy subscriptions, whereas free games want you to buy gold. Buy-to-play games like this one are kind of in the middle between the two usually.

In this case of GW2, they want there to be a heavy incentive to buy gems and convert to gold, but not overburdening to the point where you feel like you have no other choice.

It has long been echo’d on these forums that you are not rewarded for your time played in GW2, sadly if you are not ultra casual, you will be disappointed.

Yeah, it also pushes players into specific content that they might not otherwise be interested in simply because of better returns. I’d really like to see DE’s increase in reward (somehow) post-80. I love changing things up by visiting old maps and actually having a reason for being there.

What are you talking about? If you do a few dungeon speed runs every day you make enough gold and dungeon tokens to gear up as many characters as you like while you save up for ascended crafting.

You also tend to make a lot of gold off other things but I mentioned dungeons because the daily bonus is consistent and it’s easy to speed run them.

The way they get people to buy gems is by offering exclusive stuff in the store like infinite gathering tools, account upgrades, cosmetics, etc…

See, crafting there’s the 1st issue. Many ppl don’t want to even look at it, personally I’ll never level a single profession.

On the other hand you can get Ascended as rare drops, which are so rare you can’t really count on it. I want to slay big hard beasts and get rewarded for it with good gear, not bloody kittening spoons…that’s how it has always been in MMOs.
Actually the only ascended weapon that I got was from a WvW rank up, stupidity much?

Also, the hell is it account bound. It should become AB upon equipping the gear, but no on acquire. So at least those weird people that like crafting could sell what they craft on the TP, I mean isn’t that why crafting existed in the 1st place on every MMO?

You’re supposed to craft ascended stuff. Why do you hate crafting anyway?

However, maybe if you play super high level fractals you’ll find some.

Of course, first you need to play some lower leveled ones to get your ascended rings, ascended back item, etc… and it’s probably a good idea to do some guild missions for your accessories. Then you have enough AR for mid level fractals where you may find some ascended armor.

But it’s a lot better to craft your ascended armor so you can get enough AR for high level fractals.

there is a reaosn why they made precursor crafting. its not the usual crafting through a profession rather a achivment system.

crafting requires you to get all the mats in the first places.
some people however are not highschool kids but people who work, do other things offline, etc etc.
Not to mention its still not a great crafting system in the first place, getting from 450 to 500 is a shore since you have to craft mostly stuff you have no mats for like all sorts of Cores that don´t drop frequently.

both of which have more HP but still the same low reward kitten goin on.
if they would have adjsuted rewards in favor of player, then nobody would actualy complain even about the false difficulty through more HP.
heck a ratio from 1/20 or 1/25 gear/matches would be enough.
for 6 armor peices it still requires atleast a week oif palying 24/7.
then the aditional weapons drops.
count in farming gold for the inscribtions and runes to modify stats.

I just buy my mats with gold. I don’t have time to gather.

The whole “I have a job so I don’t have time to farm gold” is a stupid excuse. If you have a job you can buy gems and trade for gold.

Getting from 450 to 500 crafting does not require cores or lodestones. Just buy yourself a bunch of snowflakes and make a bunch of Giver’s exotic armor/weapons. Flawless Snowflakes are 12 copper on the trading post. It would be wise to max out your crafting before ANet decides to buff Giver’s.

The most expensive thing about crafting is ectos. Salvage all your rares with a Mystic Salvage Kit to get your ectos. Building up a good supply of ectos doesn’t take long if you do a few dungeon speed runs and some world bosses every day.

Well you don’t need ascended anyway. It’s supposed to be a long term project so you don’t feel like you’re done with everything and quit. That’s why they made crafting the main way to get it.

As far as gearing speed goes, I think that was the goal, getting exotic is fast and lets you play nearly all aspects of the game. Improving on that gear is mostly just for show, and really only helps in FoTM.

That said, I’ve never seen a precursor and I don’t expect to. They are insanely rare but I’m ok with that.

Things that aren’t rare have no value. If they buffed drop rates you guys would still think drop rates are too low because the stuff they made more common would lose all of its value and now you’d be upset that you’re not finding whatever the new rare thing is.

That’s why ANet doesn’t listen to people who ask for better drop rates. They know that those people will never be satisfied.

All i can say is that it depends on the content. I have had enough drop outside of what I have crafted to outfit most of my toons very well. Although I must say Enko has me beat by miles and miles.

Finally got around to organizing all my ascended gear I need to convert, With this, an additional 9 sets of ascended zerker armor sets now so 19 of my characters now have full zerker.

Now we just need to get the mentioned ascended ring update so I have something to do with the 454 ascended rings I have.

If I pick all light armors since they’re the most expensive:
Non Raider Box Count
3 Helms: 192g
6 Shoulders: 385g
5 Chests + 3 any piece boxes: 761g
8 Gloves: 514g
8 Leggings: 746g
10 Boots: 662g

Total: 3260g saved with prices of crafting them all myself.

Well drop rates in high level fractals are way better than the rest of the game. The people complaining aren’t good enough to farm fractals. Instead of step up to the challenge they cry because afk spamming 1 on world bosses isn’t getting them anywhere and for some reason they refuse to craft.

gold needs time to farm, majority of people DONT have the time

WHY should i spend money on gold? still you literly give an authoritarian solution “Just do what i tell you” for peiople who don´t want that option.

Again Time is of essence and its NOT a poor excuse.

actually NO they are not the long time goal.
legendaries are.
ascended are the cheaper alternative if you go high levle fractels and you dont need to change your gear.

speaking of fractals, when and with whom should more casual player go into fractles? did they allready worked they way up the scales up to 50?
can you garantee that they won´t be kicked from people like you beeing elitist and authoritarian?

you can´t give an answer to them because those are cases that go individual by individual, but considering the attitude for actualy difficult content i can tell you the more casual palyer wont get there.

6400 hours played. ~200+ TT kills. Got no ascended drop at all.
No precursors (neither drop nor MF).
Exotic drops relatively well. But, in general, I agree with you.

RNG loot works poorly here. I believe that we need a badge system for bosses.

Ok think about it like this.

Player who does not have a job – Plenty of time to farm gold. Farms whatever amount of gold per hour.

Player who works, makes 15 dollars an hour – 10 dollars gets you about 140 gold. For less than an hour of his time he gets 140 gold.

Player who makes 20 dollars an hour – 30 min of his time = 140 gold.

You have nothing to complain about.

I’m not saying I have a lot of time. I’ve gone through times when I had plenty of time to play video games, and gone through times when I didn’t. Even when I was working 12 hours a day I didn’t complain on a video game forum about this. In fact the last thing on my mind was video games. I don’t understand how you can actually care when you’re so busy with real life.

you are still in the authoritarian mindset. it doesn’t matter what people own with their jobs and how they spend it ingame.
i could be a millionior and still choose to paly the game free from gem to gold purchases.
every way of optaining a certain gear should not be superior to the other.
If you need a week in crafting to get one ascended sword, so should the fractle goer spend much time too
hwoever currently specialy with the double HP caused failors, world boss runner need more then that.
if crafters and fractles runner need a wekk for a pink zerker sword, then teq and worm runners need 6 months, and then they only get a a stat combo they don´t wanted or the wrong armor clas or weapon class.
Maybe they also don´t want boring crating or to competetiv fractles ( again elitism ala 5 fails at one event noob get kicked never learns)
they jsut want the skins.
but how?
doin what you tell them to do, even though they have their for them personaly valid reason not to do those options?

I am not standin here and saying people should be showered in pink wepaons and armor.
but when they run these two bosses for gear for months since they have been launches have have seen jack kitten, and now a HP boost literly destroys casuals interest to join, how can you sit there and still dmeand they should do something they don´t like and don´t want to do?

you can´t, and you shoudln´t.

or do you need the validation that wasting time in grind farms in fractles mean something?

I’m not sure I understand what you are asking. Do you want it to be more difficult to get exotic gear? I can’t imagine that would make the game more enjoyable for anyone. Do you want the drop rate for ascended to be increased substantially? I think that a lot of people would like that at first, but then ascended would become common and we’d be in the same situation we are now.

GW2 stands out as one of the few games without a gear treadmill, that is one in which the top tier of guild changes 2-3 times a year and players are forced to re-acquire gear to keep playing. That means that near-best gear is going to feel easy to acquire, because eventually veterans will have more than they need and the price (relative to the availability of coin) will be low.

tl;dr the drop rate for exotics and ascended is probably close to what makes sense for the current community/game.

I have 210 magic find. Hasn’t helped much at all. Honestly during the first SSC event I was farming with over 500mf… got a decent amount of rares, no exotics though. Im aware of how the magic find system works, and of course I do salvage almost everything, ask around, I’m not the only long time player that has terrible drop rate luck.

Really no point in exaggerating, my played for x days is 100% accurate I took the number out of game AS I TYPE THIS.

Yep they are insanely rare, I know that, that doesn’t change the fact that after 2.5 years I haven’t seen one drop.

It’s funny you lump everyone into “you guys”, I don’t recall asking for a drop rate buff. I simply stated that drop rates are indeed very low.

As far as the fractal thing goes, I use to do a 19/29/39/50 daily… I have since stopped after 5 months of just getting rares, mats, the occasional exotic, 2 fractal torch skins, and 1 trident skin.

The post is about the drop rates being low, which is true.

gold needs time to farm, majority of people DONT have the time

WHY should i spend money on gold? still you literly give an authoritarian solution “Just do what i tell you” for peiople who don´t want that option.

THESE http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Corrupted_Blade
where one of the weaponsets from 400 onward the only ones that get you any expirence to level up. and everybody could easily buy them since jormag was fairly easy the last few months.
See the 20 freakin Lodesstone for ONE weapon? that barely get u less then 3 level for your profession?`

Again Time is of essence and its NOT a poor excuse.
jsut ebcaus eoyu have alot of it doesn´t mean others have. stop projectiing you environment on others.

actually NO they are not the long time goal.
legendaries are.
ascended are the cheaper alternative if you go high levle fractels and you dont need to change your gear.

speaking of fractals, when and with whom should more casual player go into fractles? did they allready worked they way up the scales up to 50?
can you garantee that they won´t be kicked from people like you beeing elitist and authoritarian?

you can´t give an answer to them because those are cases that go individual by individual, but considering the attitude for actualy difficult content i can tell you the more casual palyer wont get there.
( and i will predict that you will say that hgih levle fractals are actually easy)

I do the world bosses too but if you think they should give the same reward as fractals even though all you have to do is tag them once and let the zerg kill… idk what to tell you. World bosses are easy so they don’t give you as much as the harder content.

the fact that the double HP made unfairly hard (which means artifical difficulty and not true diffculty) for pugs, makes your point mute.

But 5 man copared to 150 is easier to coordinate, then the fact you can literaly run another round of fractals after the last whiel you ahve to wait 4 hours for teq and the fact you actualy get more loot in rares and evne exotic gear is enough sentiv to raise the drop rates on teq and worm.
just by runs it would be impossible to have the same reward in the same time.
the time teq runner wait for the next teq you fractle runenr did 5 more and got 6 exotics out of it min max. maybe even a ascended weapon.

fractles would still be faster to get stuff 8ergo better) to get gear so IDk what i am suppsoed to tell yoU.

Why are you supposed to only craft it for yourself, why can’t you craft it for other people. Let’s say I’m a lazy kitten motherkittener that doesn’t want to run the same dungeon 250 times, before I even reach the lvl of fractal that MIGHT give me the drop, instead I could give gold to somebody and he’d craft it for me or I’d just simply buy it from the TP. And yes basically forcing people to craft is an anti-fun policy, implemented so PvE kitten have something to do, since the biggest part of this game past lvl 80 is WvW and PvP…as for fractals, you’ve seen one – you’ve seen em’ all. The only WB’s that is remotelly challenging is TT.

I played TERA or Lineage which is waaaay more grindy than this game will ever be. You take 15 good people and you do hard mode dungeons, where you know at the end something usefull WILL drop for sure. And if there was a drop that nobody needed we sold it on the TP and divided the gold. That’s how you make end game content that is actually useful, instead of this brainless dungeoning, 50 levels of the same kitten put on replay. Or zerging one World Boss that drops a spoon, not to mention…well, at least I get to laugh at people that die from a WB that does literally close to no damage.

If you like it, that’s your thing…I don’t like it and I’ll complain about it.
