We all know about the fact that magic find will be used differently in the upcoming? patch.

I have a question about the amulet I brought purely for the magic find infusion, this has costs me a couple of laurels and now it becomes basically useless.

Will we get the magic find we paid for in laurels back in some way?

As far as I can understand the stats will just disappear?

They said they are still working on the system. I’m sure we will hear more about it when it is ready.

I think that ideally, MF items should have a 100% chance on salvage to drop the new MF consumable that permanently increases your account MF stat.

I’m not sure if the code allows for upgrades (jewels, infusions, etc.) to be detected for salvage purposes but I would think so.

While I agree with your idea; I worry that the implementation will be complicated if not impossible.
I did get an amulet and MF infusion for my open world PvE warrior. That was 30% MF added to the armor, trinkets, rune set, weapons, & sigils. All told that character has about 176% MF without food or other buffs. I don’t see any way Anet would justify giving an entire account that kind of buff. (it is only one character) Nor do I see a way for me or others to be happy with a solution that doesn’t even come close to the percentage we paid to achieve.
Before others say: “Well you’re getting paid with loot now so quit complaining and enjoy it while it lasts”
I don’t use that character often. I only use it if the guild is going to specifically farm for an item. Ie. Armored scales in Southsun.
That is when I get ‘paid’ with 8-10 scales in an hour. And since I am not loaded and need them for upgrades, wishful-thinking-legendary, etc; I don’t sell them.

I don’t envy Anet on this fix. I believe it is a great change, I just wouldn’t want to be in charge of the forums when the announcement is finally made.

I didn’t anticipate a 1:1 ratio for the new MF system. I would think that having 100% MF from gear on one character would translate into about 5-10% MF for the whole account when salvaged.

The real reason for the mf chance is that anet wants to nerf farming :P

Is it really a nerf though? I mean, you’ll basically be “farming” MF now by mass salvaging items, and while you’re doing that you’ll be pushing your MF as you’re farming and getting better drops in the process. Also, it’s account wide.

This sort of sounds better to me. All I want to know is, what will place bonuses on a timer and/or when will they be permanent, or are there cooldowns? I’m not quite sure how this will work…

My understanding is that there will be permanent account MF and consumable MF.

The more permanent MF you add, the more you have to add to reach the next 1% increase (diminishing returns).

The boosts from salvaged gear would be the permanent MF while the consumables would be the food/potion/booster/guild flag boosts that are available now.

If your amulet has mf as a stat, then I think that will change. The mf utility infusion however, will probably remain.
