Celestial gear is perfectly balanced combat wise, I win most duels in WvW with it. Magic find was a small bonus.

Again. Celestial gear is perfectly balanced. Balanced. Adding more combat related stats is buffing it. Magic find does not affect combat. It is balanced. Balanced. IT IS BALANCED ALREADY.

Add karma gain.

For example, if you have an Explorer’s Pearl Staff, you can now double-click it to change it to any other crafting stat.

Hi, Martin. Could you possibly clarify this a bit? Will we be able to change all of the stats (i.e. Explorer to Celestial) or only the MF stat? (Side question: Is Sentinel’s considered a “crafting stat” since the insignias technically aren’t crafted?)

There seems to be a lot of speculation that you’ll be able to take any piece of gear with MF on it and change it to something totally different.

I’m also curious to know if MF gear will remain account bound after choosing a new stat allocation. Thanks.

  • Upgrade components that currently give MF bonus will be updated with new functionality.

“New functionality” is different from the wording used for weapons/armor. Can you clarify whether MF runes and sigils will just be completely changed to new items, or whether we’ll be able to swap them for something?

Agreed…

How does that change that they just gave us celestial armor, only to nerf if 1 month later, and it takes a month to make a full set. Longer if you have 2 weapons.

The point is that none of the other armors are losing stats. Every single one of them are having stats replaced. Litterally their magic find is being (can be) replaced by power, precision or toughness.

Celestial is just losing stats!

Why? Is the current stats too OP? Would giving them one of the other secondary stats be too OP? would increasing the stats by 1 each be too OP?

Anyone with half a brain would agree that celestial isn’t OP, even in the very few instances where it is actually somewhat viable to a build. The issue is that there are a bunch of whiners who, regardless of the impact, would pretend that it is and throw a tantrum over it. As far as they are concerned, if they can’t burst you for you for 80% of your health bar and then finish you up within 3 seconds, your build is OP and requires nerfing. They aren’t afraid of your 2400 atk power, believe me.

Non-MF runes/sigils/etc in your MF gear will stay the same, you are not losing them.

If it’s not too much of an imposition, could you explain how Magic Find might behave on a Legendary Weapon after the update? Assuming someone had (and I know this is silly) transmuted a Legendary Weapon onto Magic Find stats, would they be forced to choose 1 permanent stat combination, or would it simply be changeable to any stats all the time (when out of combat) like a normal Legendary will be?

Also keep in mind that Legendary Weapons are moving to Ascended stats with Infusions… would Sigil of Luck be deleted during the bump to Ascended stats (if attached) as well? It seems very complicated!

Thanks for all these clarifications!

It sounds like exactly what he said.

Hey all, no worries, we got you covered.

Weapons, armor and trinkets with magic find will become account bound,
*****lose their current stats******
and will gain the ability to be double-clicked to select one of several stat options depending on the item.

So you click them to make a blank slate, and replace it with one of the currently craftable stat sets. I’m curious if settlers and celestial will be included in this.

Finally I recalled the stopgap solution of a great princess who was told that the
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”

How’s this? If the whiners out there think replacing MF in celestials is too OP, and because equipment-MF isn’t going away completely (Infusion), then why not just leave Celestial alone? That’ll make is to those who invested in it don’t feel like they got slapped in the face, and according to our armchair experts, Celestial is fine as-is even in dungeons, so they can’t complain, either. Win-win.

Being that the new MF stat will become Account Bound, what is the maximum limit to MF gear you would gain from each character?

What if people decided to max out all their characters at this moment with Magic Find equipment, so that they can obtain the ABMF (Account Bound Magic Find) stat?

Will some players have substantially more ABMF then others giving some players a significant head start?

I don’t even think that was even a thought in the threads that guessed at what would happen to celestial. Mostly because we thought you would never put such a time gated set in the game only to knowingly nerf it only a few weeks later.

^this so much…

I crafted my celestial stuff as soon as I had enough quartz. before any changes were announced.
I had taken a long look at the stats and saw more value in celestial, mostly because of the magic find. the rest of the stats is similar in value to 3 stat gear, but with the drawback of less specialization. there is always one stat one class really does need a lot less than all the others.

I would NEVER have crafted celestial if magic find had not taken it over the edge, min-maxing wise.

I will not craft any for my other characters. The time investment is simply too high for a kitten gear.

it is idiotic to give the hardest to get exotic gear the now worst stat combo. Lets face it, all the really hard encounters need DAMAGE not tanking or healing.

I am a bit upset to hear that celestial is getting nothing from this change. I mean really a set that takes a month to craft should have some appeal. I read that I was going to pick something to replace the magic find on the set and now I see I won’t. Why introduce the set in the first place? That is the mistake here- should have not introduced a time gated set knowing you were going to change it like this.

I have a set of celestial and I have to say I am disappointed in the nerfing of the mf stat whilst giving us nothing in return for our LARGE (time = $$$) investment. I would like to ask a red name, seeing as they actually read this topic, why would you implement a set of armor within two months of ripping out a stat from it?

Not giving when taking is kitten poor development, but when it requires us, the players, so much time to make it is a kick in the kittens.

how much gold can you earn in a month? that’s how much an item set cost for which you need a month to craft.
If you farm for a month getting enough gold, then buy the item, it is a time investment. Unless you pay to win with gems.

Also: quartz is about 1.2s. you need 25 for 1 charged. you need 5 charged for one item.

1.2*25*5 = 150 — this is with large stockpiles of quartz from a living story chapter. once people realize that quartz does not grow on trees, but has to be mined ONCE A DAY PER ACCOUNT, prices will skyrocket.
then it will be gold wise, the most expensive one.

once the stockpile in the trading post is gone, you can get 3 per day.
so you need on average 8.3 days to get 1 charged quartz.

that is 41 days for 5 charged quartz.

Uhh… You can get Quartz from all 5 home instances regardless of your race. At the same time, you have a chance to get 5 quartz or even a charged quartz on every hit of the pickaxe. If you’re really good, you could easily end up with 1 charged and 12 quartz from a single node.

Anyone CLAIMING that Anet didn’t take the MF item points on Celestial Gear into account when creating the armor – could you please provide a link from a dev backing up your nonsense statement? Thanks a ton.

Until then, removing a stat from gear, that everyone was under the impression would be replaced by a similarly desirable stat, is BAD BUSINESS. I didn’t spend a MONTH making this armor AND large amounts of gold to have it simply become less effective.

Quitting the game because of a developer oversight is NOT an overreaction. There are plenty of other video games out there that want my and other celestial armor wearers business. Take this into account as you move forward ANET.

Two words: Boon Duration.

If you add boon duration, you must reduce the crit damage attribute on that gear. Otherwise it is simply too strong compared to everything else.

Your armor in no way affects your account bound magic find. All MF on armor will disappear. The way we will be able to increase our account bound MF is by salvaging blue and green items and using, what I assume to be, a “Magic Find Essence” or some such.

For your example, you would have 0 MF with 0 achievement points and a full set of MF gear.

When you say that Celestial gear will not be changed, only the Magic Find removed, does this mean I will not be able to select a different stat combination like all the other Magic Find items? I hope not as that is a serious problem. The Magic Find being on the item was one of the primary factors in that stat allocation’s consideration. It made the compromise more compelling. People need to be able to opt out of this stat allocation like all the others if it is being removed.

Secondly, is Celestial going to receive an overall stat boost to compensate for the loss?

What’s important though is that they’re creating an opportunity to re-allocate these items specifically because they’re changing the value of them after players have already spent the investment to acquire them. That’s no different in the case of Celestial gear. I know I am not the only player who would not have invested in any Celestial items if they did not offer the Magic Find boost.

It didn’t take you a month of effort, it took you 30 seconds per day. You’re also getting 3-18 quartz crystals and 0-6 charged crystals per day from your 3 swings. Every hit gives 1 crystal plus a chance of giving another 5 and a chance of giving 1 or 2 charged. The supply in the TP is only being used up by people who are making charged and have run out of regular. These people aren’t even using up 25 per day each and most will stop when they have crafted the things they want. It’ll be a while before that supply drops significantly unless new uses are brought in.

  • Celestial will stay as it is minus the MF bonus on it.
  • MF food will work as it is working now.
  • Utility Infusion will still work.

I’ve heard rumors that the Magic Find stat on celestial gear will be changed to boon duration. Can you comment on this?

all your time investment, all your charging and the money invested in the gear is for naught.

they just removed MF with no replacement.

considering that 3% MF was the primary stat on other gear, this is like removing the primary stat on celestial with no replacement

Considering celestial gear gets more crit dmg than any other piece of gear in the game… we should totally fix the stats by lowering that.

What happened to:

“Our goal will be to have as little disruption as possible to those who currently own items with a magic find stat on them.”

How will be going from 150% MF and a set of zerker armor to 0% MF and 2 sets of zerker armor be helpful at all to me? and how is that as little disruption as possible? It was implied multiple times that MF gear would give you a boost to your account MF stat…

People really think this is about nerfing farming? This is being done because of the great amount of conflict and divisiveness it was causing in the player base. If anything, this is letting people have their cake and eat it too. All the people who didn’t rely on MF will now get to have some, and people who relied solely on it won’t have to, and both groups won’t have to fight about whether or not it’s fair that someone is using MF gear.

Like why? I could still kick all non zergers from my party with the exact same argument. Hell, who even used MF gear in dungeons? MF is useless in dungeons.

LOTS of people used MF in dungeons. Also I would kick any1 from my party who is running zerger gear as a zerger is some1 who omniblobs in wvw and is likely wearing something like apothecary or ptv. Would rather take a zerker.

I’m fairly certain this was only ever implied by players with an OP wishlist who wanted their account MF to be equal to the sum of the MF on all their MF sets across all characters as compensation, not anet devs.

Well EVEN MORE people use PVT in dungeons. How is that any differend? Sorry, but I would take my treasure hunter gear over extra combat stats any day. It is more fun for me. I do not need an extra crutch to hack through the trivial pve content this game has to offer.
