Mega server problem and map closures
I was there, can confirm it is annoying. Furthermore, I had no notice of this because I joined the map a bit later.
This systems worked well in Tyria because of the absence of big meta-event chain, but less well in HoT where we work 1 hour in a map to find out that you won’t get any loot. That’s disappointing.
I hope anet will do something about it, there’s no one happy when a succesful map close.
This also has been happening on Auric Basin (and I would assume all the HoT maps) as well. Have a nicely progressing meta, get the message to change maps, people take it because the assumption is you would be going to a more populated map which ostensibly would also mean the meta should be going well, but hey when you get there seems like no one is on the map and nothing has even started.
I have to guess there is some problem with the map system and it isn’t functioning properly, but kitten it is frustrating

I wouldn’t call it a joke. I like how there is a set time for map resets so I know when to log into a DS run (or any other map for that matter) but don’t penalize us when we make it to the meta…

I do like that system, though I would argue the reset on Tangeled Depths is too long, but the issue with maps opening and closing and DC’s can map taking part in successful maps pretty impossible
Absolutely agree with all of your points especially since have been in the exact same situation, I get why the system exists and it makes sense in most maps, specifically those that don’t have big map-wide meta events, BUT when it comes to maps that do have big map wide meta events the system should be changed so that once enough players enter the map and are capable of pushing the meta, the “server closing” should be cancelled

That is what we talked about last night. If a map reaches a certain pop. then the closure should be cancelled. Which we thought it had because the notice disappeared after having to WP but were still kicked out.
