Q:

Does the megaserver algorithm take into account who I have blocked / who has blocked me, and places us on different maps if possible?

It’s doubtful. Once they’re on your block list, you essentially remove ANY potential method they have of griefing you.

Other than running circles around you, badmouthing you in chat, starting events while you’re still waiting for others, kiting champs towards you, intentionally messing with champion trains, …

I don’t actually have many people on my block list, but if the megaserver algorithm made sure I’d be placed on maps AWAY from certain people that I’ve seen grief entire maps, then I’d actually find both features useful.

If only this were true.

If you can see them in chat, they arent on your block list then, are they?
As for everything else, report them for harassment and ask for other players to do the same. Eventually he’s going to grow up or get thrown out of the game.

Lol, if only that were true as well. Some people have been griefing for a year, with hundreds of reports, yet I still see this specific person playing all the time.

I am well aware. I will rephrase it:

They can badmouth you in chat without you even knowing, or you can unblock them and put up with them but at least know what’s happening. Neither of the two situations is desirable.

As for everything else, report them for harassment and ask for other players to do the same. Eventually he’s going to grow up or get thrown out of the game.

There is no option for reporting “Harrassment” in terms of general griefing, only verbal abuse which in most cases isn’t applicable. It is not currently possible to report griefers.

It would be kind of funny if players that were blocked by large numbers of people were more likely to end up on the same server together. It would be just a bunch of trolls and gold sellers at some point. Haha.

However, that would open the path to griefing as well because people could gang up on someone and mass block them just to troll the person. Still a bunch of people that don’t know how to function in a community stuck together would be funny.

Then that’s the option you use for reporting them. If anet’s going to give you trouble for it, tell them to give the option to report them for harassment, which does unfortunately take more forms than chat.

Like all these people?

As of right now, you can’t even annotate your report with remarks of your own, so all ANet see is a wrongful report, which is a bannable offense. (I’m not going there.)

However, my question was not how to report griefers, my question (to ANet) is whether the megaserver algorithm takes this information into account.

I assume that the algorithm goes by these criteria (in order of priorty) -

  1. party members
  2. guild members
  3. contact list
  4. home server

… and it would be super useful if it did this -

  1. party members
  2. block list
  3. guild members
  4. contact list
  5. home server

I don’t see how this is an unreasonable request, or, at this point, even just an unreasonable question to ask.

Sounds great on paper, but near impossible to code from a developers standpoint, and not to mention it would be exploited beyond belief.

Thinking your going to fail Tequatl? No problem! Just ignore anyone in the zone and end up in an entirely different map and theoretically have a higher chance of defeating the boss.

What happens if there is only one mega server and you ignore someone? Are you now unable to zone into the zone or do you get your own personal copy of the map, which again would be heavily exploited.
