Hello,

I asked the head of the GW2 Design Team about whether we would be making changes and rerunning it, extending it, or repeating it as it currently is designed. At this time, we are not going to extend the event, nor do we have plans at this time to repeat it.

A couple of you wondered about our mention of an afternoon event on Friday. That event was not going to involve any changes to the event; it was simply a dev/player gameplay session. We will be scheduling what I call IGEs (In-Game Events) in the future, but it wasn’t possible to hold one on Friday. We regret any inconvenience that you may have experienced through the cancellation of that session.

The Mordrem Invasion event will run through its allotted time. It ends at 9:00 AM tomorrow, Monday. As explained in my earlier thread, no changes will be made to the event beyond the fixes that were made on Thursday. As promised we will distribute earned rewards for those who were impacted by that bug within the next several days. The bug ran from 9:00 AM until about 4:00 PM Pacific time. If you earned blooms during that period but did not receive them or received fewer than the intended amount, they will be sent to you via in-game mail. NPCs will remain in place — particularly in the Priory — so that you can exchange your blooms.

In the event this is a serious thread, the company has been overwhelmed with complaints, with Anet themselves issuing an apology about the event. Why would they release it again next weekend with the same reward prices? That would be nuts!

It has been suggested by players that they might bring it back the following weekend, but along with all of the fixes they intended to (but couldn’t) bring to it before the weekend hit and all of the developers went home.

So it is speculation, but still possible. Either that, or they might extend it through next week once the developers are back to fix it.

Here is the quote on that:

Gaile

We have been tracking player response and recognize that this event has not gone as intended. We’re at a point where we can’t change anything more about this event for this weekend without risk to the greater portion of the game. We also are going to postpone our plans to organize an in-game event around the Mordrem Invasion this afternoon. Instead, we’re going to continue to monitor for your feedback and collect information that will help us improve on these types of events going forward. – Source

Bringing back the event itself is absolutely fine. I have no issues with that. It’s the “same prices” comment I replied about.

If we are going to keep the bloom traders… Can blooms come back as a price token for future events? So the ones who doesn´t have enough for what they want can save them up until next event.

Thanks to my illusions this combat is nothing but a stage scene.
You should prepare for your great finale.

Gaile, if you get a chance can you ask these Devs you mentioned if we may get a completely different event in the future that offers the blooms as well? Because I think a lot of people felt dismayed and jaded when looking at the rewards from the vendor and knowing there was no probable way to obtain more than just one rare thing or multiple of the smaller ones.

I believe that they meant “prizes” not “prices”. I think they just want to request that these same items be made available again in a future incarnation of the event where they are actually attainable.

I think they fear that this was the very last opportunity to attempt to acquire these past items and they want to request that they be offered as prizes again in another event (of course, among other needed changes for the event one also hopes that this future event would actually reward players so the prizes could be attainable even if they did get offered again).

Not so much the jading as wanting to know whether it’s better to just spend all the blooms now or hold onto them pending another bloom source so as to buy more things. I’ve missed tagging 10 twice now, and will have to stay up pretty late tonight to make up the 10 missing blooms from that. But if I knew that in two weeks I could get more blooms and then buy the currently available vendor items at that point, I could get my rest instead. I’m going to work to get exactly 450 blooms because I won’t wager on getting any more from the Thursday bug, but others who have leftovers after 450 might hold onto them to go for bigger rewards later if they know that will be possible.

Because unhappy as people are now, they’ll likely be extra miffed if they spend their smaller amounts of spare blooms in order to clear inventory space and then learn later that they wasted them on junk (in their minds).

My question is whether this currency is one time only, or if it will continue to be a currency moving into the future. Will there be other ways to earn it. Without knowing this, how can anyone possibly make a rational decision about what they’re buying.

I got to say thank you. All i wanted from this sale was toxic pads and gloves. Instead they became rewards from this event, and even wokring 30 hours betnween thursday night and sunday morning Im gonna have both skins in about 2 maps.

Just having the oppertunity to grab them was all I wanted and even though the event didnt go well at all, I still enjoyed most of it and got what I have been waiting for ages!

Thanks <3

Stuff like this just makes me die. On Monday players are complaining like hell and by Friday they want the event extended or repeated.

Quick Competition time Use the jumbled words below to find my guess at what the head of the GW2 Design Team’s actual response to Gaile’s question was.

It’s not that players want to play more of the terrible event, they are upset because they have jobs and can’t grind 4 days straight to get a few items. Instead, if they are lucky, they will get 1 item. They want it extended because they want the items, not the toxic game play involved.

This whole Anniversary month is supposed to be about getting some stuff that’s either cheap, or seldom released, for those loyal enough to spend some cash on the game. Not an endless grind for the good stuff, while having to pay for a bunch of unexciting stuff that’s always there anyway.
