Definitely the Shiverpeaks.

If it’s morning and I’m in the shiverpeaks, I drink a good stout coffee to set the mood. In late afternoon/night and I’m in the peaks, then it’s a good stout beer.

Only the hearty can surivive in the shiverpeaks

I live in Colorado, nothing in this game will be more beautiful than that.

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GO OUTSIDE MORE!

Unfortunately not everyone lives in a beautiful place. I live in an ugly polluted city where the older characterful buildings built by craftsmen are slowly being replaced with cheap ugly buildings. I sometimes think that’s why I’m so attracted to these games, and generally fantasy based games/films where things are still beautiful and elegant.

Oops, I’ve become a cynic!

This isn’t a thread related to comparing earths natural beautys to the IG beautys. This is discussing players favorite zone in regards to scenery/personal tastes.

But frankly, I find your post disrespectful.

I personally love the Shiverpeaks zones. I’d take mountains over jungle or arid zones any time. Haven’t visited Frostgorge Sound yet, I’m curious how it looks. It’s hard to pick one of the zones, but I’d go with Timberline Falls.

In the open world areas, there’s a few small areas with exceptionally good design. The underwater hylek tunnel in Kessex Hills is the only one that comes to mind right now, that was a real gem to discover.

Some of the fractals have an epic and immersive feel to them as well. The cliffside and snow fractals are my favourites (especially the ‘dark woods’ bit after the elemental fight), and I dig the otherworldly feel of solid ocean.

All of the Charr areas are my favorite, in terms of both the content and aesthetics. As far as underwater goes though, I’d say Frostgorge because of the massive scale of the underwater areas. Being able to dive under those ice ships and go so deep down give it an epic feel. There’s also lots of interesting underwater landscape at the bottom if you bother to spend time down there.

I agree most of the landscapes are interesting and well done…

But some of the built up areas are freakin’ awesome! Next time you are in Lion’s Arch take time to look at the architecture…the details. It really is a beautiful place. I wish somewhere like that existed in the real world.

Also, Divinity’s Reach is awe inspiring from an architectural standpoint. Imagine an actual city like that!

To me it’s some of the cities (excluding Lion’s Arch, so sick of that place). Sadly they get used very little for anything.

I don’t think that any future mini game would add much to the situation either as they would most like be instances so people wouldn’t actually be in the map unless they were like the Moa Racing.

Perhaps we could have some Dynamic Events put into cities? Non violence and NO FIGHTING perhaps? People have been asking for things like fishing, that might be a way to go, things along those lines.

But yes anyways, my vote goes to the cities like Divinity Reach and possibly that place where Gwen is buried, forget the name now…….

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Queensdale
Kessex (before; now Orrgly)
Gendarran
Lornar’s Pass
Timberline Falls
Frostgorge Sound
Queensdale (yes, I listed it twice)

The Jungle areas and Ascalon are ‘ok’, but I don’t always like the lighting in the jungle and Ascalon isn’t quite my taste, but all are well done.

I ‘hate’ Orr. Well done, yes, lot of great work, appreciated on behalf of those who enjoy it, but I can’t stand places like that, which is why I’m ‘eternally’ thankful this game lets me hang out in Queensdale, if I choose, and help farmers and fight bandits in green, grassy fields and hills and sun and nice lighting.

Timberline falls has a very diverse landscape of greenery, highland trees, mountains, streams, and snow.

Although, caledon is gorgeous.

The art in this game, especially in the enviroments, is simply astounding. I never have a bad thing to say about the art style and graphics.

Edit: and it is funny people are listing more un-commoin zones, yet we still congregate to queensdale/kessex or whatever is the flavor of the month in the Living Story for farming…just for riches.

Karma is as abundant as air, and as useless as the Kardashians.

Timberline, Queensdale, Does Divinity’s Reach count as a zone? xD Caledon is pretty too

For interesting, possibly Brisban right now after watching WP video and checking it out. Guarded fortress by level 80s purples because you are scaled down which supposedly guards a map portal that doesnt work, a thaumanova reactor explosion fragment of teleporting random mobs and animals all over Tyria to there, a secretive tunnel into a valley with White Mantle ghosts and no poi or anything there, close to this circular area on the map southwest of it that resembles a divinity’s reach city or something in development. But there’s many other interesting places for lore too Kessex Hills has Wizard’s floating tower thingy in the distance in the sky that i long to visit, it has dominion of the winds guarded by Tengu and teasing you with info and has Primordus Destroyer minions cracking through the ground….. Interesting things going on

Beautiful: Iron Marches, this is really the only area in the game where you can find an ACTUAL forest, with trees every few yards rather than ever quarter mile. There’s also an amazing graphical effect of falling leaves and a lighting style which I believe is unique to the zone.

Most Interesting: Harathi Hinterlands, the most successful area they have. More areas need a clear goal like this, it was meant to be a war-zone between human and centaur, where players would feel like soldiers on the front line of a conflict of massive proportions. It accomplished all of that. I don’t want all areas to feel like a war zone, but all areas need a clear goal, and a fantasy that players should be fulfilling as they work through them.

Just so ya know, you can use the /sleep emote to get your character out of the pic. I use it a lot.

I just wanted to drop in another vote for Twilight Arbor. It’s a dungeon, not a zone, but the dreamscape vibe in a lot of the areas is just too pretty and soothing imo.

The better question is what area isn’t beautiful and interesting?

The last 2 zones of Orr.

The rest is pretty great with my favorite being a toss up between Caledon Forest and Mount Maelstrom.

Shiverpeaks. I still enjoy running around in Wayfarer Foothills with my level 80s. Kryta has become a more distant second now that they’ve trashed Kessex Hills and made it even more dismal than the Harathi Hinterlands.

Mount Maelstrom, it has such a varied amalgamation of jungle/volcanic areas. I especially love the foggy rain soaked plains leading up to the summit of the volcano as well as the dried magma flows on another side.

Nonmoa Lake in Timberline Falls and the accompanying Krait Tower also looks fantastic; makes me wish we had more reasons to go back to that area.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/51/9ouu.jpg/

Slightly reminiscent of Guild Wars: Factions. Looks like it could be one of the slums in Kaineng.

As far as architectural creations goes, it has to be Rata Sum. The height stratified city looks amazing and there are so many places you can go in there. The place feels immense and looks great.

I gotta say, I like anywhere around LA/kryta especially around the beach-ish areas I love the Diverse Ledges waypoint cuz just i like the underwater scenery of old lions arch and also, who doesn’t love a nice dive?

Gendarran Fields is also another great place. The coolest place there imo is party island/party rock however u wanna call it its slightly northwest of the Ascalon Settlement wp. And yeah, blood tide is and timberline falls are fantastic and Judgement Rock in southeast Mount Maelstrom is just like the perfect hangout XD
