Most overpowered profession skill?!
There’s a lot of crazy powerful skills but used on their own any given skill isn’t usually a game breaker, provided you are paying attention.
Hundreds blades can dish out up to 22k damage in PvP, but you’d have to a prat or deeply unlucky to not get out of the way.
Moa Morph is essentially a 10 second daze with a twist. But you can still run, dodge and hide during this time.
People’ll likely name stuff like backstab but backstab on it’s own is simply a skill, things like backstab or shatter combos are just that; combos. Not singular OP skills.

Except for the small fact that you can NOT do what you are supposed to be doing…
You can not fight, you can not capture or defend a point, you can not even defend yourself, you can not do anything except run.
And let’s face it: if a Mesmer wants to kill you, he will. No ammount of running without swiftness will help you get away. You can’t even jump walls to take shortcuts or go LoS.
But very often the mesmer will just ignore you and focus on other things.
You can’t get out of it anyhow.
It’s not a 10 sec daze, it’s a 10 second stun but wthout a stun breaker for it.
In return you can run… if they let you.
For me an overpowered skill is defined by its counters. And MOA has none, except the same as everything else: you can dodge IF you see it coming.
Good luck seeing it coming in a messy big fight.
It’s also not relevant that many mesmers don’t use MOA. It’s about the skill in itself, and that has no counter.
MOA has no counters of its own. Dodge working on everything makes dodge a void answer.

I’m a warrior main and moa morph is definitely hands down the most op skill as far as I know. the first time I was morphed in WvWvW, and I was running around thinking; wtf, what, where? help! I’m a chicken now!
Hundred blades only works on zombies, nothing to see here, move along.

Hundred blades is strong, and can be argued about I guess.
But it has more counters beyond just ‘dodge’.
That’s my criterium: what are the possible counters and who has acces to them?
MOA has none…
I don’t know what the most OP profession skill is in GW2, but I thought this video was pretty cool talking about how MMO’s have to OP certain skills to bring an imbalance to the game.

very good watch
But don’t throw theory that at any given ability though.
In my example of MOA: having no counter at all would simply put it out of that acceptable curve for ‘perfect imbalance’.
I think such a system would have to work more subtle than that.
It’s easy to find: just look which skill turns meme. Obviously. “Heartseeker”.
Some might say the mesmer portal bomb.
Others might say those darn thieves and their spinning daggers of doom.
If we’re talking about effectiveness I’d say Mesmer giving 50 people quickness for 10 seconds. I feel like a god when I pop Time Warp in a big zerg and everyone’s DPS almost doubles.
in WvW it is the one skill that allows a single person to hold an entire zerg hostage. my personal record is a group of about 15 for about 15 minutes at a supply camp.
on the receiving end of it i’ve seen one person hold up my team of 20 in the garrison for over 5 minutes costing us the capture while reinforcements zoned in.
no other profession has a skill that can do anything close to that on that level.
that skill obviously being Cloak and Dagger.
not here to argue about how it can be countered or anything like that. just talking about what is actually happening in the actual game.
Does it affect everyone? I was told that Time warp only affects 5 people.
Death Shroud, once you master it…
1v1 Moa is an I-win button.
In group combat, the portal bomb is the meta of wvw.
perma stealth for theives.
perma stealth for theives.
that’s more of a bug than a skill of course.
Not saying it’s ok, but it’s not intended.
Where as portal, MOA and the other mentioned abilities are perfectly intended to be what they are.
Rangers shortbow auto-attack, before the nerf. I mean before the bug fix.
I think dstorm is pretty OP, but that’s when it’s used in conjuction with other people’s skills/elites, so I guess stand alone it isn’t exactly most OP skill ever.
I think the Elementalist downed skill “vapor form” makes it very difficult to die in a group setting. It’s a skill I certainly wish I had every time I’m downed at the foot of a monster who is all too happy to continue attacking me while ignoring everyone else that is still standing. :P

Time warp, like most AoE’s only affect up to 5 people at a time
