Is there any information or website that lists what music plays in each zone?

Generally, most music will play in each zone, there isn’t really any map zone specific music as far as I know (except for the newer zones like Dry Top and The Silverwastes). It is effectively RNG for which music will play as you travel across each zone.

However, there is other music that is specific for instances (dungeons, Living World etc) and custscenes (especially for content added after release), and a full list of additional soundtracks can be found here.

I dunno, I think there is zone specific music. You get music in Timberline that you’ll never hear in Caledon. Each city has its own tunes as well.

Most of Soule’s OST sounds so alike, though, that it’s easy to mix up pieces. I can’t hear most of it and peg it to where it goes in the game unless I’m in that tune’s zone, at which point I recognize that it’s the right tune for where I am. If I had a more discerning musical ear maybe I could.

There are a few region-specific pieces that play (for example: Over The Shiverpeaks only play in Norn zones), but I don’t think there’s zone-specific (with the exception of the music that plays in LA, Dry Top, and Silverwastes).

That’s a youtube video with all the pieces from the “official soundtrack”. It’s not separated by zones/regions, but it’s still a nice list.

Music is split up largely by region, yes. Kryta has certain tunes, Maguuma has certain tunes, the Shiverpeaks have certain tunes, and Ascalon has certain tunes. There is some overlap from time to time, but there is definitely music exclusive to each region.

The only zones with specific soundtracks are Dry Top, Silverwastes, Lion’s Arch and Southsun Cove. Even in those zones, after their unique soundtracks have played through, the game will shift to some more generic tunes or tunes from other regions before eventually getting back to the unique tracks.

Orr is a bit of an odd case, as it usually has gloomy music, but every now and then a Maguuma track like Temple of Tolerance will show up and be unexpectedly cheery.

The lack of zone-specific pieces is what causes the music to not resonate with me too much.
There are a few pieces that I find rather nice, but most don’t really stand out, and without tying a location or a specific event to them the vast majority of the music just feels unmemorable.

And while I like some of the original GW’s pieces as well, I’m kind of torn about their use in GW2. If it accompanies a fitting event (IE: Crystal Oasis in Hidden Arcana; one of the best uses of music in the game IMO), it works. If you’re just playing the Pre-searing music in one of the random zones (especially when that zone is Cursed Shore), it… doesn’t.

Gone for good after Halloween 2Ø12.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
