All you guys screaming omg don’t rush it are slow levelers point blank if you were in a guild from day 1 that took the game serious you are lvl 80 in 3 weeks max

If you’re following the progress of the story and just go with the flow, you can hit 80 quite casually in 3 weeks. No need to push very hard or take it seriously.

I got to 80 in 3.5 weeks with 55% map completion; which is about how long it takes in modern games to hit cap level. DCU, you’d hit it in 1.5 weeks no problem.

It isn’t the players rushing; it was designed with a goal of “it should take someone roughly 3 weeks to level to 80”. The ones rushing are doing it in 1 week – 2 weeks.

I agree with this guy on almost all of it, and I would prefer a gear treadmill compared to what we have now which is nothing LOL. Even with a treadmill you still have stuff to work for and feel like you progress each time you play. Right now 80 feel so stagnate there is nothing in terms of endgame progression

“Nothing to work for. "

This game was designed to play in, they specifically said no gear treadmills, there’s no subscription fee so no reason for carrots on sticks here.

All I see is people comparing this to other MMOs, when it should be seen as a completely different game. It’s like reading a vampire slayer book, and then complaining that it wasn’t just like Twilight.

Anyone quoting and using an 8 year old game in direct comparison to a 2 month old game should reexamine the term “lessons learned”. As in None.

Yes my new lambo has a few issues but if you’ll remember, the model T ford also had some issues when it rolled out 100 years ago.

The “people rushed to 80” defense just doesn’t fly in GW2……where you are given XP for everything you do. That like many other things was a design decision so they should have been ready for it.

For me the thing that is killing ‘endgame’ the most that the few places and things PVE wise there are to do at 80 are infested with bots. I need/want to go farm abit to get some needed mats for new gear and have to deal with the centipede trains of bots everywhere. It just leaves me with a nasty feeling toward the game. And the more and more ANET claims to be ‘working’ on the problem the worse and worse the problem is getting.

What I have been seeing a lot in this thread as well as the majority of threads, is people want to play the same way in every game out there.
I am a hard core player, who has played every day since head start, 3-5 hours after work on weeknights, then 12 hours minimum every sat and sunday (no life, whatever). I have a lvl 58 as my highest character. I’ve been hopping around on the various classes, exploring them all, most of those are lvl 20-30.
Rushing to end game why? Why do people feel driven to do that in every single game? Rushing isn’t just power leveling, it’s skipping over stuff that doesn’t “advance” your character (keg brawling, anyone?) Try stuff that’s just for fun. You might, I dunno… have FUN? GW2 has so much to offer and explore on the way there, I just don’t get it.
Different games should be experienced differently. Isn’t that kinda the point of trying them out? You try a new game probably because you’re burned out on the one you were playing last, then get disappointed because it’s not giving you the same things and activities as the old one.

End game has always been just that to me anyway… I get to the end, then lose interest. My capped characters become little more than mules. So I take my sweet time getting there. The enjoyment is in the journey.

That’s the core problem IMO. You have people who have grown up playing games like WoW where they are trained to get to cap as fast as possible, and then grind end game dailies in a never ending quest for more shinies.

Come to think of it, did ANet make a direct reference to WoW players with the Skritt race? haha. (You bring me something?)

Anyways, this just isn’t that game, it’s made for people who enjoy exploring, or just wandering. I can get lost for hours at a time in certain maps, just running around harvesting and joining in on random events as they happen. I’m still running across events I’ve never seen before that most of the time chain off to 2 or 3 more events if you just hang out and see what happens.

While I wouldn’t use the term rush, I definitely agree that I think people are getting to 80 and expecting what they would normally find in a MMO and just not knowing what to do when that doesn’t exist.

I think it is just a case of incompatibility between the game and gamer.

GW2 is a not a gear treadmill MMO and it never will be. That’s not the design goal. It’s design is as an esports game like LoL. Does the lack of gear grinding hurt that game or keep people from playing it?? What about Counterstrike? How much grinding does it take to get the AWP?

GW2 mostly needs to flesh out their esports content. We need spectator mode, guild on guild support and competition events. WvW also needs more fleshing out, but that’s a really new design for Anet and it’ll probably take a lot of tweaking.

guild on guild I like. even if my guild probably wouldn’t be very competitive, I would still like to see some a-bit-larger-than-spvp-but-waay-smaller-than-wvw player vs player action. maybe 2 teams fo 5v5 so at max you’ll need 10 players :P

Don’t disturb me, I have a cat in me at the moment.

Jesus, people. Get a guild, jump on vent/mumble, enjoy a conversation with your friends, go after achievements, earn some ectos, strive for a legendary weapon, earn the cosmetic looks you want, go WvWvW and earn benefits for your server, take some temples in Orr, deck yourself out in exotics, get 100% Map Completion, get the Commander manual (because nothing says ’I’m filthy kitten rich’ like blowing 100g on a title!)

The list just goes on and on and on and on…

And before you argue “All of dat iz are grindzzssz!1!!” take a moment to realize, uh, hello? Every MMO is “grindy”. It takes work to earn titles and certain things. Shocker.

I do think that the main issue is the leveling pace…just seems way too quick. I’d honestly like a longer leveling process and the option to just turn off exp from gathering. Also, I think the factor that there are no factions really is hard for people to grasp from WoW and not being worried about being in a zone and getting ganked.

Otherwise, GW2 is amazing. I definitely do not want treadmills or things like that.

To this day, I’m not level 80, I wvwvw and spvp everyday and in fact, have leveled entirely by wvwvw.

I’d still like to see more content (whatever the solution is) for players @lvl80.

It’s not all about you.
