‘Majority of people’ is a funny claim when it affects less than 1% of players (who all do living story, so they continue to log in anyways).

Tumult, does this mean you only played GW2 to get daily points? What about doing dungeons, or living story, or PvP/WvW. Did you never try them out? If you have, you notice there are a lot of points to be gotten there, which you can approach anytime now instead of doing dailies.

For a lot of people, the only reason to log in daily is for the daily achievement. Certainly the other achievements are interesting but not always practical to progress / complete in only an hour each week night.

If you are interested in points, then you are interested in other activities besides dailies because they give a loooot more points short term. If you are not interested in points then nothing will be taken away from you.

I imagine once players reach a certain point, which for a lot of us will be soon, and they get less and less rewards (AP is a reward since you can get chests) they’re going to walk away.

Agreed. This decision seems poorly thought out unless they really don’t care if more of their player base starts leaving.

It’s like all they care about now are the new Chinese players. NA and EU players just get screwed and players playing since launch get doubly screwed. Really? You think punishing players that gave this game its start is a good business decision?

Try reading my post the next time. During the week, a lot of people only have an hour or so to play, which rules out working on other, more time intensive achievements. Over the weekend, most people will generally have more time to devote to LS, dungeons, etc. Taking away a reason for people to log in daily versus only on weekends (or possibly not at all), will not help the game long-term.

Absolutely wrong. I have no interest in PvP and will never care whether there are points available there. Basically the same for WvW although I do enjoy some of that content sometimes.
We each set our own goals for this game. I get to play the way I want, and so do you.
Your entitled to your opinion, but that never means it has to be mine.

For me, this game now has an ENDGAME of 10k AP. Then I find another game.

To each his own. I don’t really understand why this is the only thing you want to do in this game. If dailies is all keeping you in the game then please understand that dailies are also something many players get tired of and that they stop logging in because of them. A lot of my guild members couldn’t be bothered to race for the daily APs and stopped playing.

Regardless of the intent of the suggestion, I suspect Anet simply see’s this as another way to force PvE players into the other parts of the game. I just wish they would check to see if they move to another part or another game.

Someone said there’s 3 groups of Devs working separately, but you can bet the other 2 are saying “We want the PvE players here too”, whether they want to or not.

Having reached the acclaimed tag, I have a fair amount of AP but I have never looked at any leader board and never will. Leader boards are very counter productive, except at the top, and simply drive a lot of players away.

With this change it now means that when I reach that 10k goal, it’s the final goal, and I then find a new game. Yes Anet, a very interesting business plan…

I didn’t know there was a leader board until I read this thread. Where does one go to see this?

Also, am I misunderstanding that all AP combined will be capped at 15K? So no more AP or rewards for AP after that? I.e. at that point we can stop doing dailies, monthlies or anything that previously awarded AP?

So what you’re saying is that when you reach 10k AP from Dailies you’ll be done with the game, regardless of how far in the future that might be. Because there will be nothing else to do? I don’t get it.

Scroll up. Hover over Community.

I thought they were capping the amount of AP you can get, in total, from dailies and monthlies. So you can get an accumulated value of 10k AP from doing dailies. Once you reach 10k from dailies you won’t get anymore AP from dailies. 5K for monthlies.

This is a heckuva long thread, and I haven’t read all the posts. I hope I won’t be repeating something already said, but I’d like to vent my two cents worth.

I don’t give two kittens about the leaderboard. I DO care quite a lot about AP because I want the rewards. I love the Hellfire skins, and I got burned early by mistakenly grabbing Radiant. :‘( I sucked it up, and pushed on because I figured, eventually, I could make up the points with daily/monthly rewards. Now, I see the details on the cap for daily/monthly AP, and I am dismayed. I’m one of the “been here since beta” people so I have done many of the permanent bonuses. I am not a PvP fan, and I don’t anticipate going there for AP, and I grant that there are always achieves added for LS or holiday content, but being time-gated to accomplish them is pretty frustrating. Then, when the release is over… they are gone, never to be revisited.

I read another player’s post about a time machine to complete past LS achieves and content. That, to me, is a wonderful idea. One of my favorite aspects about GW1 was doing a part of the story and reading, “You are about to re-live events prior to your arrival to ______.” The game was pretty old by the time I discovered it, but I never felt like I missed anything because it was all there (except for things that were removed for reasons that had nothing to do with time).

I see a lot of players mention the feeling of “crunch time,” and with a lot of the LS, I had that feeling. I would LOVE to never have that feeling again playing GW2 (holiday finales notwithstanding). I hope that all that LS content can be revisited, but alas, there is no way of knowing. I kinda feel bad for the newer players who never even got a chance to experience the older LS content.

Bottom line is, as long as I can comfortably continue progressing toward AP rewards, albeit even slowly, I will be mostly happy. What I really hope for, is to be able to say, “Oh, new stuff. I’ll check it out when I’m done with x, y, and z because it isn’t going anywhere,” instead of, “Well, I guess I won’t get to check out the Secret of Southsun because I was having too much fun in WvW.”

That and a full set of Hellfire Armor.
