To be honest I dont give a kitten if a bunch of people buy the wings. I know I like them very much and I plan to use them on my elementalist ^^ If a huge amount of other people get them too, good for them I dont really spend my time looking at other peoples armour or weapons or anything like that, I prefer looking at my own character. Thats just me though!

In that case you have the option to not use the things that the other 1000 people are using. So don’t use the wings and feel special. That was my point, many here want the wings because they find them great but don’t want others to use them as well, since that would make them less unique.

Personally, my only gripe is the size of the wings. I ain’t going to comment on taste, how they look or whatever, I don’t have a good fashion taste after all.

But the game has enough of the stuff that clutters the screen already.

An option to hide those wings (even if it’s just /hide wings command in chat) on others would be a perfect solution for everyone. Dungeon runs, open world combat, whatever. And it’s non-offensive in any way. Those who like the wings still can use them and show off to others who like them. Those who don’t like them won’t even see them.
(I bet someone gonna ignore this part and start with personal insults O_o).

Why only those wings and not all the backpacks? Because only the wings are that big, and non-transparent in any way.
But something tells me this option ain’t gonna happen in foreseeable future, sadly, leaving a part of the playerbase (yes, it’s minority, but still) uncomfortable. Yes, just uncomfortable, because the wings ain’t gamebreaking in any way.

I think the majority of people getting these wings know full well a large number of other people will also be getting them.

I can’t help thinking that if I saw 1,000 people dressing up similarly to me, instead of feeling like I’d lost my distinctiveness I’d be thrilled that good taste was finally in season .

I expect out of my stable of 17-18 characters about 4 may wear these, and one more will probably use the inevitable white ones when they arrive. I’d still like to get some natural colorations of tawny/brown and can see red and gold being popular also.

And thus my wallet was emptied.

To be honest, the wings are awesome. But I must abstain from buying it.

In a game thats built around cosmetics, everyone looking the same ruins it. It’s like going to a concert and the band just plays the same song for an hour. Sure, some people like that. But it really wrecks the experience for everyone else.

Everyone will wear it for a while then a new backpiece will be the new thing to get and everyone will be wearing that. The Karka shell backpiece had its day and so did the holographic wings and the Shatterer wings. They are still around but nowhere near like the height of their popularity.

If you rotate your character enough in the preview screen, you can semi-see what type of movement they have.

On a different note, I think this should be said here, but if they ever release a set of wings like this, but made of FIRE (!!), like Phoenix wings, I would die a happy player. Anet couldn’t take my money fast enough. If Anet had a department store for this, I would literally fling my cash into the cashier’s face.

I am impressed with the store trolling. small supply period so the game wont be saturated, and people that normally pay attention to the forums or the TP get a chance to grab them.

Honestly as a GW1 player these wings are less immersion breaking to me then all the Charr I see in the game and story.

White feathered wings, please, Anet we all want White feathered wings. My character totally needs them to finish the outfit I’ve been working for a year. I would even pay 1000 gems for White Feathered Wings.

These wings would have to be in the TP on the one day I was out of town and missed them, and pretty bummed they are not longer for sale. Had I had known I’d have found a pc so I could have gotten them.
