HIGHLIGHTS:
-NEW LEGENDARIES in 2013 and a way to craft precursors. New legendary weapons and types (legendary trinkets, see notes below)
-Crafting increased to 500 and ascended gear can be crafted at 500. However, it will be time-gated
-Magic find as an item stat will be removed and replaced with account-bound MF. Compensation for magic find gear will be detailed some other time [corrected]
-Account bound crafting rewards per day for completing specific content
-Champions reward guaranteed box which contains crafting loot, lodestones and unique skins
-Blue/Green items can be salvaged for MF consumables
-New skills/traits as a form of progression. As a result, there will be more ways to acquire skillpoints
-Dungeons changed to remove gold drops from bosses, but replaced with the guaranteed loot box as mentioned above. Also, there are bonus rewards for completion.
Additional notes:
-“Anyone who has started to find him or herself rapidly running out of bank and inventory space may be pleased to hear that finding more player-friendly ways to handle GW2’s tons of collectable armor looks is high on ArenaNet’s priority list.”
-Although Johanson couldn’t commit to a timeframe, new weapon types and expansion of current types to more classes is absolutely in the works. In the meantime, there will be new Legendary weapons based on current weapon types, as ArenaNet wants to provide players with more variety in looks and themes for the powerful weapons. One new type of Legendary gear will definitely be putting in an appearance this year and will likely be a trinket such as a ring or amulet. Several of the current Legendaries will also receive appearance-enhancing makeovers.

I’m especially liking the Precursor changes, Unlocking Skills and Traits (please let it be like GW1) and changes to MF.

Crafting to 500… thing about it, crafting exotics will now have “meaning” as far as pushing crafting up. Crafting ascended gear and weapons, but they’re account bound… this is good. It looks like crafters will be able to sell the high end materials so profit will still be there as well.
I might need to read that a few more times, but I like it so far. A lot.
Sounds like a good time to be playing, minus all of the complaints on these forums of course. Doing away with MF gear is probably the best thing ever, and changing the Legendary weapons to have the ability to change stats will be a God-send.

New legendaries have got me excited.
However, I’m disappointed that they haven’t outlined improvements to the current legendary skins. Nearly half of the current legendaries are underwhelming and need some adjusting in the skins.
My speculation before all this was that first they’d fix the skins of current legendary, then they’d add the precursor scavenger hunt, and then another set of legendaries

I think they wanted to have Ascended gear as the final tier of gear. After that, they don’t want to release anything new. So of course it seems that they are adding new tiers but ascended is the very last.
And as far as I recall, players have come to accept ascended gear and didn’t see it as too tough to get. Back in November though…

They can still be used for the Magic Find, and who knows, maybe the Gold Find will affect the coin we get from the chests.

Not a fan of more crafting, I want legendary drops. I do not like the current legendary crafting kitten :/
In addition, we’ll also improve the functionality of legendaries, allowing you to set their stats when out of combat to any stat combo available, so you don’t need to transmute stat changes for legendaries.

Thanks Vol, you summed up everything that interested me.
Now I just hope that mats for precursors aren’t the same grind than the T6 or lodestones. Enough of need only gold to craft a legendary.

No they dont listen their playerbase who made it extremely clear they didn t want ascended stuff and “progression”.
And unless you show me some feedback of the proportion of the anti ascended thread then you can t say the opposite.
(but you can see in ANY site talking about gw2 how the game is defined as a grindy with no endgame).

The only thing is, I was going to craft me a Celestial Pirate Hat of the Pirate today. Shall I now not bother with the Celestial gear anymore? I sort of liked having this project of crafting my first MF armour set. :C

If you want to craft Celestial Ascended armor, you need Celestial inscriptions.
So don’t craft celestial armor right now. Just make the inscriptions.

1. Ascended was introduced back in November. They’re simply releasing more slots of the same tier, not another tier. Unsure what the introduction of Ascended has to do with this blog post.
2. Are the actual sites saying this, or just the people who comment on these sites? Because, you know, different strokes for different folks. If there wasn’t any end-game, people would have literally nothing to do at level 80. Now, if you said traditional end-game, I’d agree with you.
Regardless of anything, some of these are issues players have been complaining about. ANet are doing something to amend them issues. How is that not listening?

Guildhalls? housing in general? Heroes or henchies? Or dungeons that scale so you can do it with fewer then 5… GW had it right.. you never were forced to team up there to do anything.

I find it extremely unlikely that precursors crafting is ever going to happen. If its “cheap” like many other unique weapons in the 100-200g range its going to be a big kick in the nuts to everyone that had to buy it at 500g+.
Maybe if its going to cost 1000g to craft a precursor.

Yeah, but I was after the MF bonus more than the Celestial stats.
I have both a set of Carrion (maybe to be replaced by Rabid in the future) and Soldiers’ (maybe one day Sentinel’s) for my condineer. I don’t think I need a Celestial set, on its own.

All gear found is going to be crap… So it’s still going to be about farming gold and some materials to get pair of shoes for every occasion. So I’m finally over with the game.
My eyes are wide and my ears are ringing. Seems like most of the bases I think about were covered. Pretty good news mostly from where I stand.
Pixel^, I was thinking I was going to do the same thing, craft a celestial mf set. With this change I’m not sure I’ll go that route…however, who knows when the change will go active.
My concerns still stand though when it comes to ascended gear and fixed stats, just didn’t want to see the rune/gem/sigil system be compromised by having fixed stats.
Right now it only effects backs and trinkets(every combo still not in), so not a huge issue atm. Does set a precedent in my mind though.
All in all, great news. Wow, now I need a drink…it’s early, but it’s happy hour somewhere.

And to what purpose is that mentality change exactly? To create content that a new player or those with jobs simply cant do because you cant hardly get a fractal group anymore for lvl 1 because the masses are further along or do a story dungeon for that matter? Why not let everyone enjoy dungeon content? Seems to me that scaling dungeons will draw more people in then the offering of increased gold rewards.

removing magic find entirely as an item stat and turning it into account stat that improved the odds of rare drops for all your characters.
I knew I had a good reason to keep all those RNG fractal rings with Magic Find I got \o/
