It’s a waste of materials. I have 9 level 80 characters, and all my skills are 400. I have no need for low level components, and no need to craft.

This is my main concern with the crafting being added, too. It just seems like a waste for some players. When crafting was talked about early on, it seemed as though the system was meant to minimize unnecessary, wasteful crafting. I liked this. For those of us with maxed out crafts, that plan kind of gets thrown out the window. Sure, I can easily craft something in “10 seconds” as all the proponents of the new dailies keep saying, as though time spent is actually a measure of usefulness, but it would be just to complete the daily and feels like a waste of materials. And when the TP is flooded with everyone else’s crafting detritus, we’ll eventually be lucky to get vendor price from anything we make.

Crafting, if you don’t have ore to craft 10 ingots, you’re doing it wrong.
Dodge? Be a ranger, Jump in a Red Circle, Quick Shot out of it.
Heal … really, how hard is it to find dead people.

Sure, Combo was a bad idea, but the other one’s aren’t really difficult.

Just a horrible idea to have dailies dependent on other people’s behavior. I’m running pent/shelt for the revives because I figured, no problem, the chickens. So I’ve been here a couple hours and have 3/10. Unbelievable, horrible grind. Dailies weren’t broken. I suppose they looked like low hanging fruit for “improvement”. They’ve now ruined the one part of the game that worked dependably.

My point was the daily dodge thing. dont expect to dodge things that your pet kills or u can one hit. I replied to the post as a ranger that doesnt need to stow a pet to try and dodge something it or I can one hit cos thats just being lazy. I merely suggested karkas as something that doesnt take one hit. And I disagree with the course of ‘normal’ play to some point because if yer a level 80 (say without any alts) whats the course of ‘normal’ play? The variety is welcomed with me as opposed to the same old reptativeness

You’re making assumptions (perhaps the same erroneous way that ANet did) about ‘normal gameplay.’ The point about invoking user centered design is that ‘normal’ game play is defined by the user(s) themsel/ves. What’s normal to you isn’t normal to me.

and by the way its crafting 10 things on that particular daily…. 10 x lvl 1 dough balls or w/e is lowest on the tier. Big deal….. i dont how u will manage it being max craft, its too hard to craft 10 lowest level tier items I bet

And why would I want 10 balls of dough? To throw it away? To make 10 pies to eat quickly toward my eating 1000 things achievement? It’s a waste of time and resources (in my opinion). I don’t farm the game for money. I play to have fun. I’m not going to go buy stuff to crank out a daily requirement. Waste is waste. Yeah some people probably will just roll their eyes, but I’m not rich and rolling in gold, and I won’t ever be.

You have your opinion, I have mine. Waste and lack of fun, things that just seem a forced way to send me in search of specific goals instead of letting me finish map completion on my characters is … silly. I was already out in the world seeing it over and over again. It seems that in their haste to force players to see the world, they are implementing punitive tasks rather than creative fun and play. If you can’t see the difference, I don’t know how much more I can wave hands and type to try to convey this.

Want me to dodge 15 times? Make a monster that if I don’t dodge, it hurts. Want me to use combo fields? Create a monster that only takes damage from one. Want me to go to kill karka? Oh wait I just killed a 1000 of them for another achievement, no thanks.

I made no assumptions. I responded to your post. You had already posted your own assumption about what was ‘normal gameplay’ and yes I agree whats normal to you isnt normal to me which is why I quoted you on it. Then you contradict yourself over it lol

They told us we’d be able to complete Dailies by doing only a few of them, not having to do all 5.

They lied, and you have to do all 5.

They didn’t lie. They said very clearly that the option to do 4 of 6 would come in a later patch, once they’ve nailed down the daily tasks to get us out into the world.

Why the HELL would they delay that until a later patch?

Question is why did ANet modify the Daily ? I mean what’s the point. Before you were able to do the Daily by playing normally…now ?…why would I dodge if I don’t need to ?..crafting ? yes, maybe when and only when I’m in a town…and have time to spend there…never been that much interested in crafting…underwater ? … Found movement underwater crappy enough without being forced to do achievement there….

Really, the old Daily was way better, had to play the game only…now looks more like being forced on a type of gameplay…bad..real bad idea

Really? Why would a cook or a tailor or a leatherworker have ore lying around to “craft 10 ingots?” You’re saying they are “doing it wrong?” So, only people with crafts that use ore are “doing it right?”

The new dailies, so far:

Underwater Kills – Takes less than 5 minutes to get 10 kills; just about every zone has an underwater area you can quickly rack up these kills in.
Dodges – Similar to the above, this doesn’t take much time at all.
Combo Finishers – If this wasn’t bugged, it wouldn’t be very hard to do either. Certain NPC’s will generate combo fields, or use combo finishers, so it’s possible to do this by attending certain events if you’re that opposed to being around other people. (I actually ran into somebody who partied with me for this achievement, and we found that fire field + whirl finisher was consistent – and cleared the achievement within 5 minutes for both of us)

All of the above were likely made for the same purpose – to push players towards understanding/reinforcing those skills. Underwater combat is often different in terms of skills to land combat, and not everybody has mastered it; dodging practice in general is worthwhile for everyone; Combo Finishers are an integral part of the game in higher level play, so reinforcing those in achievements helps everybody eventually.

Crafting – Why complain? You’ve been required to gather materials daily for the last 4 months. Even refining materials counted, e.g. Ore into Ingots – it took me less than one minute to walk to a crafting station and make some bronze ingots from the materials I’ve been harvesting every day since I started playing the game.

Revives – NPC’s count, NPC’s die in droves during a large number of dynamic events, reviving NPC’s gives exp, counts towards a longterm achievement and is something people generally do when they can. Take a trip to somewhere like Thaumanova Reactor, where the default state of NPC’s is pretty much “dead”, and again, this takes only a few minutes.

Really, there’s nothing terrible about the new achievements, and they have a clear purpose, which is pushing players towards reinforcing their skills in certain areas.

So you think everyone should just create a certain class just so they can do the daily?
Why would I want to craft 10 ingots? I’d rather be in WvW making you T*T about my class being OP. This isn’t all about how difficult these are. But how much a waste of time they are. Some of us do not want to craft for any reason. Some don’t need to DODGE so why force us to let a mob get that close?

I mentioned ranger, because I read a post from a Ranger, which I’m a Ranger. And like that Ranger, I don’t dodge, at all… but I do quick shot, all the time.

And if people can’t take 5 seconds to craft 10 ingots, well, I’m just gonna read the thread, and laugh hysterically at it.

I wonder tho will this change the mentality of reviving people. When I see somebody revive a player from downed mode or death with battle going on I think it’s because it is easy and players generally help each other which is nice. So will this change from ’ I’ll help him because I like helping people/I better help him so I don’t turn out to be a kitten’ :P to “quick! revive so I can get my daily”.

Probably won’t matter at all but the thought process will change, will you start seeing this as a selfish act or it wont matter at all? :P

Good point but you only have to spend 1 silver for level 0 crafts and even less. Craft piles of cinnamon and sugar, 10 sugar is 10 copper (on TP, from vendors its 80 copper) an if I remember correctly 1 cinnamon stick is 1 copper. You can craft em right away, and the cost is miniscule, and it’s not a time waste.

I just gave you one example, there are tons of other recipes not just cooking.
For this particular one it’s just 20 copper daily. If that’s much then really. And it’s a level 0 craft. Takes 5 seconds to make… i fail to see how this doing same boring daily every day beats this

Not for the dailies, specifically, no. She’s talking about money spent specifically to complete a daily that is above and beyond the cost of crafting tools. This additional cost is to what I was referring.

And I agree with you. The lack of logical responses regarding the crafting concerns presented is indeed absurd.

Take it easy. Reviving NPC-s count and there are always tons of em around. You don’t have to revive dead people, just help with rallying.

Thanks devs for this change in dailies, I was finding this game way to enjoyable. Now I can get back to real life, and I can park the ‘gw2’.exe icon at the bottom of the screen next to ‘wow’ and ‘swtor’, and ‘D3’. Eventually I may move them all to a folder, so I don’t have to be reminded of their disappointment. Then one day when a game is released that gets it right, I can delete the folder of my discontent.

Seriously…

ANet has provided more variety with the dailes. Sure some may be buggy, but overall most are simple things you do within this game yet are not tedious/gridning, provided you know how to minimize the effort/time.

Underwater combat – how hard is it to kill x ammount of enemies underwater?
Crafting – how hard is it to refine 10 items?
Revive – how hard is it to let an NPC die x ammount of time and revie it?

Seriously x2…

Also, the rotation WILL BE added at a later time.

Well, I assumed you were referring to that because in your original statement you said “why would I spend money on something I didn’t have to before”. One can only assume it’s because of the money. If not, what is the real problem? People who don’t want to craft? Refusing to spend few minutes and few silver (and only if by some rare chance you don’t have anything in your bank) daily to complete an achievement? Well, honestly that is their problem for being stubborn.

Well if you play hour – 2hour a day you wont be ressing 10 in wvw either. This is completely kitten and we going to see alot mass suicides so people can do daily. I mean what an earth is behind this?

Crafting daily? I do this without fail, everyday. I refine things. I am hopeful that when they introduce guild halls, they will be built. With materials. Get crackin.

Combo Daily? I do this without fail, everyday. I find the combos fun, and require skill and thinking and not just brute force.

Reviving 10 people? I do this, without fail, everyday. If you are really worried about it, go to that village in Kessex where the Krait kill all the villagers. Or Nageling in Diessa, when the giant has appeared, the whole town dies off en masse.

Now lets talk about the MONTHLY which I never get. I don’t grind and I don’t farm, so I don’t do Fractals. I also do not do that much pvp or wvw. So for months I have not received the monthly—- just something on my list of unattainable things—— but many of the same people who are having conniption fits over refining some jute or some copper are the same people who find the monthly achievement “easy”. mmm hmm.

the most anoing once so far is proberly revive and dodges(outside wvw)
and if you want them badly you can go into wvw find oranged crossed swords on the map(thats generaly where a zerg is) and go into the middle and dodge and run out and there is your dodge part, it literly toke me 30 secs doing it,
combo fields is something im not sure how works but i know you dont need to be in groupe with others for it to work

and the people complaining about crafting achiement can i ask why you are not complaining about garthering achiement as if your not crafting you have no need to garther to

Not a question of being hard or not…question of type of gameplay and that’s what was making the guildwars games so enjoyable letting people play the way they like.

Dailies were about the basis of the game everybody do : killing monster, playing event, and “explore” to get different types of opponent…yeah there was gathering but hey…while you were “exploring” there they were and no need to do anything with it … now if one want the karma and exp of the dailies they are force to adopt some type of gameplay they dislike…or forget about it

Well, I assumed you were referring to that because in your original statement you said “why would I spend money on something I didn’t have to before”. One can only assume it’s because of the money. If not, what is the real problem?

No, it’s not about a money issue. Non-crafters that don’t enjoy crafting aren’t relishing having to take up something they dislike if they want to earn their laurels on a given day. Stubborn or not, this is something they didn’t want to do. When it’s all said and done, they may not have to if the implementation of daily choice is eventually added, but that may take a month or more and in the meantime, that particular daily task is a requirement for earning a laurel for that day.

and the people complaining about crafting achiement can i ask why you are not complaining about garthering achiement as if your not crafting you have no need to garther to

Gathering and crafting are two different things. Non-crafters often gather materials to sell as a source of income and it doesn’t involve leveling or taking up a craft. Raw materials are usually worth more than refined ones, so if they end up refining their materials before selling them, they’ll ultimately lose money, besides having to do something they don’t enjoy and hadn’t intended to do on the game originally.

Oh and dodging? I am a ranger, so I do not do this much. But I learned to do it, I doved my pet, and had a level 3 grawl ranger hit me and then figured out his pattern and got my dodge daily. Gee golly willikers, it was so tough. ( I do dodge a lot on my guardian and my elementalist, but I just wanted to SEE if my ranger could do it, since I never dodge as a ranger)

So that’s it then it’s just about being stubborn. Crafting level 0 items is easy, cheap and it goes hand to hand with other achievement that has been here since release, daily gather. Well how do you complete daily without gathering stuff? You only gather high level stuff? Well good just refine them. Yes raw materials cost more but the loss in minimal. It goes to your profit in any case. Sacrificing 10 mithirl ore daily at most won’t hurt your income at all.
