I think another thing that bothers me is that you don’t get as much experience from doing dailies as you did with the old ones (at least I believe so, please correct me if I’m wrong.) I found dailies a pretty good way of getting experience on lower level characters, so this is a bit disappointing to me.

I’d also very much like to know the answer to this.

Even if that does occur, then players will no longer make ingots to get their crafting daily completed, and will swap to other break even/small loss recipes until equilibrium is reached again.

Yeah, some of them will have options to refine something else instead of ingots, such as leather, cloth, or wood. And then there will be more of those appearing. Jewelers might find branching out more difficult simply because the craft itself is so limited.

Jewelers can make copper ore into ingots (currently sitting at a 1c profit for ingots). But, every account has 5 character slots to start with and each character can learn 2 crafting disciplines (technically they can learn them all but switching isn’t free) so that jewelcrafter can also be a leatherworker and turn jute scraps into bolts of jute (current 1c loss) or rawhide into stretched rawhide (break even). Or they could go on another character as a huntsman and make green wood planks (current 2c loss).

Just because you have a character that’s a jewelcrafter doesn’t mean you can’t use any other crafting disciplines. Every account can use every discipline. There’s even an achievement for mastering all 8.

Yeah, I know. I’ve completed that achievement. I only placed 2 disciplines on a character, though, to avoid the expense of swapping level 400 disciplines, which would have gotten pricey had I chosen to place all 8 crafts on my main. If there had been no fee for it, though, I would have done exactly that and foregone the use of alts.

hate the new daily… at least they removed the god aweful team combo killer daily. Got that the first time… kitten thing is nearly impossible to do. Can’t use the last finisher ability to kill the mob, oh no no no, that would be too easy. Can’t use any field to use against the mob, oh no no no, that would be too easy. Can’t be a finisher used with a field by some random guy in the world, oh no no no, that would be too easy. It NEEDED to be a poison or fire field and you needed to let the finisher NOT kill the mob but instead let the poison or fire finish the kitten thing off, and to top it all off, the guy NEEDED to be in your party as well… lost out on my first daily cause of that kitten thing.

Dailies and monthlies are currently the only way to get ascended amulets; everyone will very likely be doing them. Enjoyable or not, they are currently mandatory for staying on top of the gear grind.

On top of the gear grind….. yet I keep having this pesky recollection of being told this wasn’t a grindy game cause the devs aren’t making a grindy game.

The combos were being counted reliably. They just didn’t work how people expected them to. Regardless, they’ve removed it from the rotation until it works as intended (which I assume means you’ll be able to use blast and leap finishers as well as light and water fields when it’s reimplemented).

It’s possible that once the choice factor is introduced into the dailies, everyone will be able to leave off those items that aren’t as appealing or would require picking up something a player would simply not rather get started on, and it will feel more like it did with the old ones. Could be some time, though, before that is added.

In my opinion the combo kill was a good call on anets behalf, it inspires players to group up. It took me less than 20 min to complete the daily.

The trick is to do veterans, champions or sergs (of mob).
Doing few events will complete combo kill daily in no time.

The 29th daily was fun as well, took very short time.

Personally I like this new system much better, before patch you had to do the same every day. Now we have something different every day!

One thing is for sure though. Moaning on forums is not going to get the daily done!

You cannot solo the kill combo daily which is kitten me off pretty hardcore. You can’t even do it with strangers, you HAVE to add people to a party to do it.

They made these achievements sound like a reason to come back to the game, but…yeah. No. This is really stupid.

you do not have to be in a party for the combo kills to work at all just roaming around strolling together is enough, just make sure the final killshot is a finisher inside a combo field.

All of this “Combo killer” in daily has killed the daily itself. I feel like it went from regular daily where you could log in and do it easily and it was fun, to a no fun, obligation daily. I feel obligated and forced to do the daily, since i don’t have much time to play and want to take all i can as possible from the game itself.

It’s just sad to see that Anet is somehow forcing us to do daily. At least remove the combo killer, wich i spent 2hours trying to do it, and still failed for some reason apparently. NOT to mention the 4 disconnection that resulted in 4 few minutes rollback’s.

Thank you.

PS: I’d like my laurel wich i failed to get thanks to the “Combo Killer”. Thank you!

The combo one does not even work 99% of time. I was working with 2 friends and we tried everything, did it every which way, taking turns etc. It would randomly work once out of 10-20 times we saw combo or finisher happen. Terrible TERRIBLE design, it needs to be removed. We must have killed 200+ with close to half having confirmed combos and I got 7 combos.

Honestly I am amazed at some of the comments here. Yes the new dailies take a bit more effort then the old dailies (5 – 10 mins more mind you not hours of effort) but then again they reward more and finally variety. I started to skip dailies because it was just becoming boring to repeat the same things over and over again. But thats not what amazes me most, what amazes me is comments such as these new dailies fail to encourage people to move to different zones and then soon after the same people complain about finding it hard to revive 10 allies. Plenty of zones where npc kill many other npc, visiting one such zone helps you finish that achievement in 1 or 2 minutes easy. They complain how hard/annoying underwater combat is, starter zone makes this a walk in the park.

Something people seem to miss in my opinion is dailies / monthly arent simple quests, they’re not simply meant to give you something to do, they’re meant to encourage you to do things you wouldnt normally do to help you experiance more then the game has to offer. You never did crafting, then a daily crafting is just perfect. crafting 10 things including refining any 10 materials is not going to bore you to death, it will take a minute or two at most to harvest 3 nodes and refine the stuff you get there from a starter zone. Who knows you might even end up liking it. Same with the combo killer, for a long time I have seen people complain there is no reason to group up, there is no content for guilds to do together, well here is a golden oportunitey. Team up with a guild mate and work together.

Seems to me like some people want the game to hold their hands a bit too much. No daily specifically forces you to visit Zone X but that doesnt mean you will not have a much eaiser time reviving Allies if you visit war torn zones like Gendarran Fields. There is no daily that says do X with a guild mate, but that doesnt mean teaming up with a guild mate will not make the combo killer much easier to accomplish.

Seriously people in my opinion you’ll enjoy the game a whole lot more if you stop waiting to find what you desire spelled out word for word in the content and instead start thinking about how you can achieve what the game wants you to achieve play the way you enjoy playing.

It was broken. It was broken in that it ceased to even be something we thought about anymore. For some people the daily is about getting free karma, and that’s it. But from a game design view, it was certainly broken. It was mindless. It was just a free gift to anyone who was interested. Not really good game design.

I welcome the changes to the dailies. So you have to think a bit more, and go out of your comfort zone? I don’t see a problem here.

Bugs aside, I don’t see anything wrong with this. It’s not like any of it is hard. Rezzing 10 NPCs? Crafting ten ingots from copper ore (or any other kind)? Some people have self-comboed to make their daily.

It’s really not as bad as some people are painting it. And in a lot of ways, it’s good for the game.

I haven’t gotten the combo one, but even if it weren’t buggy, so few know how to do combo fields properly that I can see how it would be a chore. Unless you can make your own that is. I don’t have enough experience with all the classes, however with my ele & thief I end up doing combo field kills by my self all the time.

Refinement is honestly no biggie for most, we have the requirement for gathering stuff already. Dodging was fine, I got that in 5 mins by kiting a ton of mobs in the human starting zone. As for the underwater combat thing, seriously? There are far worse things than that you could complain about. Like Galen Grey said, just go to a low level zone & melt faces. Simple!

Now if you can’t find anyone to revive, try looking around in the world across the different zones. That’s the intent to these changes & the ones to come after all. There’s a good chance you’ll come across a number of NPCs to revive. Absolute worst case scenario, go to Divinity’s Reach and get your fellow players to jump off the statue of Dwayna. I often do it for kicks & I’m sure people will be willing to help out.

Glitchiness aside, I love the new system we have for dailies. They actually take a bit more effort to complete & keep things interesting.

Actually, that first bit you posted I think was a very good reason to redo the dailies. It focuses on elements of the game that might have been overlooked by a lot of people.

Take the combo for instance. It’s was one of the very first things that was revealed when the professions were revealed. There’s a video out there showing a ranger shooting an arrow through fire at which point the arrow catches fire and becomes a fire arrow. I don’t think it strange they added a daily which highlights that part of the game (beside the fact that there is also an achievement for doing combos…)

The same goes for dodging.

Killing 25 mobs underwater… I prefer travelling and killing mobs on my way than staying in the lake running in circle.

At the moment, the changes to our Dailies seem a major disincentive to playing regularly – apparently the idea will be to offer eventually a choice of more than five types, allowing us to choose the five-a-day we can do, but Combos and Dodging are just ridiculous, while underwater kills could lead to major overcrowding in the starter-area ponds, and crafting would just mean a lot of junk being made and discarded.

So, no laurels for me until they get their act together… I’m going to miss the daily coins, mana jugs and money…

Im glad its not the same boring daily every single day now.

-Combo killer is a bit bugged but still doable. I took my necro to orr and did the penitent path events, got it in no time at all. Probably harder to do at lower levels though .
-The healing one? Ressing npcs works fine.
-The underwater one took no time at all.
-Crafting? Meh, just make turn copper or into copper bars or similar easy crafting tasks. Piece of cake.
-Dodging. Just stand in a circle of bad stuff, then dodge out of it. Rinse and repeat. Easy!

I’m surprised at what I’m reading here. Logic: ask for new and changing tasks for our dailies, and then complain about them? Oi, people just can never be happy can they? The dailies are perfectly fine. They took me longer and were more time consuming; good. That actually gives me something to focus myself on; the 15 dodges or so was actually even beneficial to me to help me practice my dodging. The revives were just reviving npcs, no big deal. I mean, what more do you want? The point of the new dailies is to help players to enjoy more content; yes, you can sit here right now and say "But I don’t like crafting/partying up/whatever. Great for you; theres lots of players in this game, and of those, there are probably a good amount who enjoy it. If it bothers you so much, just don’t do them; Anet gave what the players asked for. God forbid you actually have to spend more than 2mins crafting. I’ll admit the combo field was a bit tricky, but is that one daily enough to spark 8-9 pages of hate? Its been 2 dailies so far guys, not even a day after the content was released; give it a chance.

1. People complaining of the same thing on different topics.
2. People… complaining. I dont understand why you complain about being casual and now u have to spend more time doing a daily. Isnt that supposed to happen on a mmo? Spending some time doing something? The old system was kitten in my opinion, you could get a daily in 10min. Whats the fun about that ? I still didnt log in, can only play Friday and i really dont care if my friends start getting laurels before me. Good for them. I play my own pace but i guess some people are jelly of others. Ill reserve my opinion about the new dailys because i didnt test them yet but the old system was way too easy even for a casual like me who plays 2/3h a day.

you have to revive allies not other players. Plenty of zones where npcs regularly kill friendly npcs, just go revive them. Ex. in Queensdale wolves and Centaurs kill villagers and seraph patrols all the time between Scaver Plateau and Claypool. Walking around the road will probably give you enough revives to finish that requirement if not just walk it back and you’re done for sure. I think thats plenty casual friendly. Its not just Queensdale either, many zones have areas where NPCs kill other friendly NPCs.

Dodging isnt just something you do against spells. Centaur archers are also very easy to dodge. Stay a bit back and dodge as soon as they shoot the arrow or if you’re close a bit after then raise their bow. just requires a little timing. Other easy things to dodge are worms throwing rocks, worms borrowing towards you, raptors stun shout thingy, dredge, grubs and charging centaurs.

There is a huge world with a variety of enemies. Dont feel tied down to a paritcular area you might have an eaiser time doing the dailies in different areas.

Thanks and great job with the new daily Anet! I really like the new system. Now you have to work a little more and get together with people in order to complete some achievements!
Keep working well, going in the right direction!

In my opinion the combo kill was a good call on anets behalf, it inspires players to group up.

If it forces you to party up, I’d say it’s a bad call. If it forces you to play with anybody who happens to be around, it’s a good call.

No, it does not force people to party up. You do not have to be in a party to do a combo kill.

Then I’d say it’s a good call. The same as dodging, it forces you to actually think about some parts of the game. And in case of the combo’s, it encourages working together (if not playing together).

Yep, the daily swapped over. Now ya gotta kill 13 different creatures, revive 10 people, dodge 15 attacks, gather 20 resource and complete 5 events.

Piece of cake. Thanks for sharing. Been waiting for patch to finish downloading and was wondering if I’d be able to do it before having to call it a night…
