You guys DO realize that the daily changed, right? Now you need to kill 13 different creatures, revive 10 people, dodge 15 attacks, gather 20 resource, and do 5 events.

If I hear a single person complaining about having to REVIVE someone I’m shooting a unicorn up their $&@*.

Im fine with reviving people what i do plan to do is hunt down and spike every one i see in WvW with dreamer its the people shoting a unicorn up my $&@* i have a problem with

Well I play a Guardian and a Rifle Warrior anyway so I don’t use the Dreamer. That doesn’t mean I won’t borrow some random thief’s Dreamer, though…

For you Americans.

US servers rollover at the same time as EU servers.

and yet when I stepped out into the world I saw more people than I usually do and received more rewards than I usually do. Both of those can’t be coincidence.

New patch has a way of doing that. It’ll die down again; just ask the panda lovers.

how many months would it take for you to equip each one of your characters with a legendary? Probably longer…but I don’t see anyone complaining about that

Not sure what to tell ya man

Legendaries have the same stats as exotics though and are purely cosmetic.
Ascended is a new gear tier that sits above exotic. I don’t think its unreasonable to expect that you should be able to earn and equip the gear on all of your characters, rather than be punished for taking the time to level and invest in multiple alts.

That being said I think it’s a bit early to complain. They’ve said numerous times that they’re going to be expanding the ways you can get ascended gear and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see that a bit later on in the year.

I’m cool with grinding gear. I’m cool with gear treadmills. Because i can keep up with them.
What’s not okay is this laurel amulet stuff.
1 laurel a day? 35 a month roughly? Thats ONE AMULET anet.

That’s exactly why this laurel system is so great.

Grind is bad for a game. The gap between the majority of casual players and the minority of grinders is also bad for the game. When ArenaNet said, “we don’t want players to grind”, it was obvious that they were not catering to grinders. Laurels are perfect for this – a grinder is not going to get more laurels per day than a casual player, even if the grinder plays 10 hours per day and the casual plays a single hour per day.

This is working as intended, and for the records it’s a great design.

Riiiiight. I remember when people “called” the potions that would reset the dungeon DR system. Guess those potions didn’t get the call, did them?

If you are not dedicated enough to acquire ascended gear, you probably don’t deserve it from an achievement point of view. You only need ascended gear for high level fractals, and once you reach them, you’re going to have at least enough to get to a good level.

Also if they didn’t make it account bound it would lead to people farming them on low level characters, also no one ever said they wouldn’t be account bound. All they said is they are avaible for now through monthly and daily achievements, wich geuss what? Are account bound.

Forcing EVERYONE to be a casual player is not great design.

Neither is putting most end-game content and rewards out of reach of casual players, which is exactly what they’ve been doing repeatedly since launch. This isn’t any better, but at least now the kittens who say high-end rewards shouldn’t be available to casual players know how much it sucks, and maybe they’ll finally quit preaching their elitist bullcrap, but probably not.

I was fully prepared to enjoy some variety in dailies, among other aspects of the patch. However, I feel like they’ve really screwed the pooch with the dailies.

Combo Killer – already addressed, wasn’t working as intended.

Daily Crafter – bear in mind as I comment on this that I, personally, craft on a pretty regular basis. That said, I don’t agree with this being implemented, as it is forcing crafting onto some people that would rather not a) spend money on crafting, or b) spend any time on crafting. Regardless of the relative ease of completion, I simply don’t agree with this decision.

Daily Dodger – while I don’t have any great difficulties timing dodges, some players do. I don’t think a less-skilled player should be held back by a deficiency in reflexes or in reading mob animations.

Daily Healer – what this requirement does is encourage players not to help npc’s or other players stay on their feet. The extent to which this can influence players’ behavior remains to be seen, but already in one zone I played in tonight, players were yelling at people to let allies die so that they could get credit on this one.

I hope the requirements for the rest of the week are more thoroughly thought out than these seem to have been.

See, I really like the underwater kills. Very easy, and I love fighting under water. I’m always out there rescuing those poor drowned folks in Frostgorge.

What really needs to happen, and hopefully it’s still on their radar, is grab bag dailies. Here’s 20 things (or more) to pick from. Do 4.

Then I might pick underwater because I don’t have time to go find 15 different things to kill. Event, gather, total kills were easy. I didn’t care for the combo one, but I did it. Jury is out on the rezzing and dodging, as I haven’t had a chance to do that. I suspect I won’t like the dodging one. I suspect I’ll enjoy the rezzing one, especially since I try to do a CoJ at least once a day, and sometimes do some WvW. Lots of opportunities there.

So to each his own, but it’s why they really need a grab bag. The way Wintersday was handled with the achievement, and only having to do so many, and you could pick, was perfect. The only thing we need is more ‘clear’ variety. If we can get it to 4 and 3 are at least enjoyable and maybe 1 is ‘the lesser of all evils’, we’d be in a pretty good place.

It has nothing to do with the difficulty level of the dailies, it has to do with the tasks themselves…

Its the fact that “Revive X players” and “Dodge X attacks” are really unimaginative and DO NOT accomplish their stated goal to “drive players to different areas of the world and play together”.

They are new to making grindy games. Give them time and they’ll eventually get it down like WoW, where, if you are lucky, you can have a trinket in a night and the whole grind, fully-geared, PvP and PvE, can be measured in terms of what a piece or two in GW2 takes.

I do feel for you. I have 7 level 80’s and don’t intend on taking them on a treadmill ride. I’ll simply play at exotic levels until I no longer am able to.

After the daily reset, I went out of Lion’s Arch to start working on them and I noticed this one in particular. It said I needed to revive ten allies to complete this one and I didn’t think it was too difficult a task. But shortly after going around killing some stuff, I encountered someone in trouble with a few too many monsters and he went into the down state. I easily could have saved him but I stood by and waited because I remembered that I needed ten revives for my daily. I was not sure if it would count if he wasn’t fully incapacitated so I didn’t take any chances and stood by watching as he was struggling to rally until he died. I revived him afterward but I felt bad for letting him go down completely and taking some damage to his equipment. About a minute later, I disconnected and my daily progress was rolled back once more.

So now I’m just waiting for the game to be a little more stable to play because I was rolled back at least ten times while trying to finish the daily combo kills which I was unable to finish earlier. Has anyone tested if reviving someone from a down state counts for the daily or do I have to have a friend go down purposely ten times just to get this one done easily. I don’t know how well this one was thought through when they added this to the daily achievements. Some of new dailies do feel quite troublesome to bother with like the combo one which I spent a solid hour to finish but was unable to.

The time required isn’t the issue. That’s perfectly fine.

The issue is that these were supposed to make people go out into the world. I don’t see that.

Good god people need to stop complaining. Dailies are NOT required. If you want to do them, then go out and do it! God forbid you have to dodge 15 times or shoot threw a combo field 10 times. It’s seriously not that difficult, and adds some variety to the dailies.

EDIT: And daily healer? Come on people, that is a given. I easily revive at least 10 people a day already. See someone downed? Revive them. It’s a win-win situation.

Dailies became required when max-quality gear was attached to them, which by my reckoning was a few hours ago.

All fractal thing is made around “not” having alts at all.
You need to farm levels for it. Going from 1 to whatever (50 60 80 does not matter) is a lot of time. You want alt? Ok farm it once more, get gear once more, waste time once more.
I would probably have one main “ascended” guardian on fotm with maxed gear. Other alts will be geared to max 10 ar (with droped rings) to play with my guildies and help them with fotm leveling.

Simple solution that will please the maximum number of people: Implement sPvP gearing and leveling in WvW with free transmutes for PvE armor. Traditional MMO fans can grind ad infinitum in PvE in pursuit of progression. Players in favor of horizontal progression are probably more PvP inclined and can play all varieties of builds on par with everyone else without needing to grind first.

Dailies are as much the realm of no-lifers as hardcore grinds are. Worse, because of how they’re usually structured, casuals are left with just one option to advance their character – run the daily each and every day.

Traditional MMO fans, aka grinders, have half a dozen PvE MMOs to play already. GW2 is the only MMO close to something enjoyable for a PvE player who doesn’t like grind, aka isn’t deceived to become a donkey chasing a carrot.

GW2 is marginally different until you’ve acquired a set of level 80 exotics. Then, it’s basically the same, except not quite as good as some of the more developed gear treadmills.

This game isn’t that casual friendly.

Having BiS gear isn’t a requirement for any PvE content except high level fractals. Gearing up in max level gear isn’t supposed to be an afterthought like leveling to max level, or unlocking all of your skills. It’s a progression system that one can invest into and attain items that are marginally better without being game breaking. Some players want to play dress up with their gold/invested play time, and others(the majority of MMO players I reckon) are a sucker for elite gear. As long as certain hard to attain gear isn’t required to experience new content, gearing up to max is just a preference like farming for a nice skinned weapon.

But even the 10 revivals is pretty tough. 10 is a lot, 5 sounds more reasonable, I never come across dead people and npcs, and the only way I can get this one is to cheat and go to malchors leap everyday with the bridge event, it just doesn’t feel right.

I do agree with you there.

To be clear, I do love the variety they gave to dailies. However, they could have had more people in zones simply by adding “in area X” to the end of each requirement, or AT LEAST a few of them:

  • Gather 20 materials in Kessex Hills
  • Kill 13 types of enemies in Iron Marches
  • Do 5 Events in Sparkflyfen

A good update to dailies, but I was expecting a reason to go to specific zones. Hopefully they take that to heart.

Concern: I have been doing my daily in Caledon/Metrica (basically, in the beginning in the zones) and getting the rest of kill variety in Gendarran… and I like it. It’s easy, it’s close enough… It’s been really familiar. Comfortable. Me = happy. So far it seems I don’t have to change my habit. I like that.
I absolutely would not want to do a portion of a daily on a higher level character if I want to play a lowbie, and I am very selective about where I want each character to go (concerning starting cities/maps). And I don’t want to wander to any far off places I have no interest going that day…
So I would want to vote NO in here.
