New Dailies
these dailies are a disaster. im not crafting, and im not doing jumping puzzles. the only difference for now is im never gonna do my dailies and i’ll just make way less karma. thanks ANet.
Well so much for being able to play this game the way you want.
It seems to be coming more of a chore each day to complete the dailies.
I will never get the monthlies as I don’t do Fractals or WvW.
Looks like Guild Wars 2 ain’t the game for me.
Sorry, all of each had to be completed. I had all of it except for 2 combo kills and suddenly everything reset to the next set of dailies. I am glad to hear the combo thing is removed since I did a zillion combos both on my necromancer running solo amongst group events and on my thief in a party of 4 and only got 8. I did want my first laurel
The dodging one is tailor made for my thief except other people keep killing my pulls before they can attack me. I’ll have to go off alone for that.
And on reviving allies, it works on NPCs.
They should take out the combo kills..its redundant.. i could get the under water and all..but the new combo field takes time.. most people wants to do their dailies fast and hard… they reset my game 3 times.. and i have 9 combos done already.. i am kitten . so hows da strangers i was with…
can you guys just get a PTR for players to see and test this stuff early on? obviously, you dont have the proper decision making abilities / QA to give the majority of players what they want. with PTR, you get to receive massive feedback before you make these horrible blunders.
it is readily apparent they could care less what the players want
crafting? underwater kills? with requirements like these, nobody will do dailies. people liked them because they were easy. and where is the reason to go out into the old zones?
maybe you just wanted to nerf karma earnings?
I am pleased ANET is attempting to add content and variety to the game. However, this change, in my opinion, was poorly planned and executed.
1) I went to bed last night only needing a few events to earn my dailies. When I logged on I got the new update and all my previous dailies (purportedly not changed until 4PM PST) were changed. The new requirements were impossible to solo. Kiss my 5 silver and jug of Karma goodbye.
2) ANET, specifically GW 1, has been reliably friendly to solo players and those who play with one or two other players. GW2 is not nearly as friendly.
3) GW 2 was purportedly eliminating the need to have a defined group of player professions to engage in content — not only was the game touted as being solo friendly, it was stated if one wanted to go in with a group of 5 rangers that would work. Perhaps my understanding is limited but it seem requiring combo kills for a daily achievement does not fit with a group of all the same profession, or is it solo friendly.
3) Believe it or not, ANET, there are those of us who only play PVE. Requiring WvW (PVP) , fractals, etc. to earn monthly achievements has completely ignored this player community. Perhaps an alternative would be to offer monthly achievements for PVE only with a bonus for WvW, etc. The same for those who prefer to play PvP or WvW, achievements for those with a bonus for PVE play — tiered monthly rewards would not leave those of us who only play PvE unable to achieve any monthly reward. Perhaps it would not be the maximum but we would get some bonus.
4) If new daily achievements require participation outside PvE, then some of us will be left out.

Not true, the entire patch was in response to community feedback – almost never see an MMO devote a single patch to that. ANd this is only part one of multiple patches over the next 2 months.
I personally think they’ve done an excellent job with the dailys. I love the variety and getting you to experience various parts of the game. This is exactly what an earlier community thread specifically asked for and now there are threads asking for the opposite. I agree bugs should be better checked, but the devs probably wont know which way to turn at the moment. Whatever they do with dailys, regardless of whether they are listening, seems to be heralded as being wrong.
Actually, I think MORE people not less will want to do their dailies due to the ascended gear rewards. It’s just that some are not going to find them as easy or enjoyable as they did before.
That’s exactly why they changed it. It has nothing to do with exploring all the zones.
Really, really sad they didn’t give any incentives to visit old zones again. I was really looking forward to that.
crafting is easy, underwater kills are easy. Compared to finding 15 different types of enemies, these are a breeze.
You shouldn’t even worry about crafting, underwater kills, or kill combos. The daily reset almost an hour ago.
The flavor of the day is resurrecting and dodging, which I’m sure you can do plenty of anywhere. Kill variety went down from 15 to 13, so it should be a breeze even if you do nothing but Fractals.
New daily has been the thing I have been waiting for the most. I liked the static one well enough, only hunting the events down was often a quite annoying for me.
Been reading about them while I wait one more hour to get in game, but I expect to like them. No, underwater combat is no problem for me at all, I like it just fine. Crafting is good. If there’s working combo field one some day, nice.
What I hadn’t caught earlier is the 4/6 thing not being in yet… I hope it happens soon. I’m really lazy, I wanna skip things. >:D
Did Pre:1900 Dailies and Post:1900 Dailies. I found that turning on my Commander Shield and leading a small team to annihilate the countryside was quite effective. It took people a bit to understand the Team-Combo one, but the rest wasn’t anything extraordinary nor substantially different than normal PvE play. I imagine WvW folks might have to go out of their way momentarily to gather and kill krait [underwater] but otherwise would proceed as normal thus far. As far as ’nerf’ing earnings. Not only did I receive my normal earnings, but I also received 2 laurels and a black lion salvage kit in addition. They buffed the earnings. Why would ‘nobody’ want buffed earnings?
Hey does anyone know where the developer post where they said “the feature of 4 out 6 to complete the daily monthly would come latter?" I have searching for it but no luck. I know there are plenty of people saying this, but I want a link to this post. Big thanks to anyone can find it.
Dailies and monthlies are currently the only way to get ascended amulets; everyone will very likely be doing them. Enjoyable or not, they are currently mandatory for staying on top of the gear grind.

And yes, WvW folks were able to finish the combo field and underwater kills at the same time by grouping up on krait. It took about 5 minutes to finish.
Ascended rewards + interesting tasks will motivate me to do dailies now.
Its over reacting, most of it anyway, but dailies will now be more random, and nothing no one would have not done around the map world anyway
they are pretty easy imo. underwater combat. really? it takes less than 5m to get all those kills
No we have new dailys, no craft, no combo, no underwater kills.
Again Anet you did nothing to encourage moving about all the zones with the dailies like others have noticed. This is poor indeed along with the late slow update, late daily for Europe and the disconnecting fiasco.

In other words, for many people, they improved it worse. So, not only did they not receive their normal earnings, they also didn’t receive any laurels. That’s why you see the this theme repeating in various threads.

/sigh. I am reading the forums. I understand frustrations and broken promises [Like Vertical Progression?] My point was to the original poster that ‘nobody’ was going to do dailies and yet when I stepped out into the world I saw more people than I usually do and received more rewards than I usually do. Both of those can’t be coincidence.

1 Laurel for pre:1900 daily and 1 for post:1900. Not 2 for each. I apologize for any confusion.

New dailies are a major disappointment. I had thought they were going to give incentives to explore older content, but it just looks like they opted for exploring the line between frustration and tedium. As this doesn’t meet stated design goals I don’t understand how the idea made it into code. Very disappointed.
I am fine with a bit of variety in daily and monthly achievements, however some of the new ones are nigh insufferable:
- Combo Killer. Seriously. On killing blow. Only when doing a combo with another player. You almost need TS/Vent just for the timing, and will spend half an hour just on this single achievement
- Daily Healer. I have done it. It is not hard. It is only tedious, arbitrary to perform, pointless and boring. Also reminds of LotRO trait grinding, aka “repeat arbitrary action N times to claim reward”. This is the opposite of fun.
Generally, I would suggest to completely remove all new dailies that only work with another player. I often do the dailies right after reset, before going to bed. I have to literally ask random strangers to help out with that stuff, or time my dailies with someone from my guild over the course of the evening. This should be something everyone can do at their own schedule and leisure, not at the mercy of other people.
Edit: Well on the good side, daily dodger was fun.

Good god people need to stop complaining. Dailies are NOT required. If you want to do them, then go out and do it! God forbid you have to dodge 15 times or shoot threw a combo field 10 times. It’s seriously not that difficult, and adds some variety to the dailies.
EDIT: And daily healer? Come on people, that is a given. I easily revive at least 10 people a day already. See someone downed? Revive them. It’s a win-win situation.

I like the variety, but would also like if they rewarded 2 laurels instead of just one. 1 seems so miniscule
I was expecting a daily that would bring me back to lower tier zones that I haven’t visited since I leveled. Instead, I’m doing things like finding someone willing to die 10 times so I can revive them and finish my daily.
I understand they are going to be fleshing this system out in the months to come, but this first step isn’t very promising.
The best part of dailies is how they work on the HUD. Other than that, they fixed something that didn’t need fixing and I like your idea, perhaps each daily should have been focusing on a particular map.
I can see a lot of players jumping off cliffs and dying for their friends so everyone can get their dailies done. lol
I finished combo kills in 10minutes UNDERWATER is so easy!
Daily dodging is just stupid too. As a ranged character I usually just maintain distance from mobs instead of waiting for the precise moment to dodge their attacks. If I played organically I would probably never finish daily dodge, even though I do dodge all the time. Instead I got a few low damage enemies to attack me and just pressed the dodge button whenever I could.
I’m cool with grinding gear. I’m cool with gear treadmills. Because i can keep up with them.
What’s not okay is this laurel amulet stuff.
1 laurel a day? 35 a month roughly? Thats ONE AMULET anet.
I HAVE 6 CHARACTERS. That’s 6 months to gear them all with ONE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.
Fix it anet. Not Cool Man.

I was only expecting this because of what Colin Johanson said in his blog: “We’ll add support so daily achievements will be different each day of the week, which will help drive players to different areas of the world and play together.”
My daily achievement list today:
-Kill 13 different types of enemies
-Revive 10 allies
-Dodge 15 attacks
-Gather 20 things
-Complete 5 events

I do agree with you there.
To be clear, I do love the variety they gave to dailies. However, they could have had more people in zones simply by adding “in area X” to the end of each requirement, or AT LEAST a few of them:
- Gather 20 materials in Kessex Hills
- Kill 13 types of enemies in Iron Marches
- Do 5 Events in Sparkflyfen
A good update to dailies, but I was expecting a reason to go to specific zones. Hopefully they take that to heart.

I started playing in December and because so much of this game is not up front with you from the get go, I just discovered how profitable dailies were about 5 days ago. Now they are still as profitable but just more frustrating to do. I wouldn’t say the new stuff is Hard (but then we’ve only seen a fraction of what it is) but none of it is fun, or productive. Discounting the combo one (please never bring that back) the rest are a mixture of tedium and counterproductive gameplay.
Not everyone wants to craft. I hate crafting and always have in every MMO I play. I should not be forced to craft. I understand that the amount you have to craft is near trivial, so then why even include it? I don’t suggest making it harder, or more of a time investment. Until there’s some system that allows crafters to craft and PVE folk to do things that way just leave stuff like this out.
Dodge 10 attacks. Ok, fine. This took a few attempts before I understood exactly when I was supposed to dodge but at first it seemed ok. However once you realize all you need to do is dodge you can “farm” dodges by just getting the same monster to attack you over and over and just dodge and wait for your energy to re-fill. The only problem there is that at some point someone will think they are doing you a favor by pulling this monster off of you and then you have to go find another. Just more frustration when the system should be an “as you go” system.
Reviving allies is a nice thing to encourage in people, however it’s another thing that you basically WANT people to die so that you can rez them. You now have less reason to save people who are about to die. Better for you that they die, THEN you rez them. It’s a bad thing to encourage.

Legendaries don’t offer me a stat advantage over Exotics. Ascended gear does. I shouldn’t be forced to play at a lower level than other people for months at a time because a calendar gating mechanism prevents me from gearing out my alts.
Let me put in 5x the game time to gear my 5 alts. Don’t gate me with 5x the calendar time.
