I’m thinking the wurm means it’s not primordus but mordremoth who’s going to be the next dragon we encounter.

You know what will be great? If they released an update that had nothing to do with story whatsoever: adding guild features, fixing abysmal loot system, adding precursor hunt, fixing bugs and skills – all the features they promised in 2013.

Where did they promise these things?

Also, there’s supposed to be just a patch for features and QoL updates after the last LS patch in March.

Oh I don’t know, they said that they’re already working on precursor hunt back in January 2013 and that it will be implemented later than year.

Ah, so it wasn’t a promise.

Well, we knew it’d be pushed back until this year anyway. Colin said last October – November.

Life is a journey.

Another thing that has me a wondering a little…. Why add a second world boss to Bloodtide Coast? There are other maps that could use a permanent addition of a world boss.

I got the impression from the article that they’re also adding stuff under Bloodtide Coast. Anyone else get that feeling from what was written?

You can make a zone a lot bigger by getting vertical and add tons of new content while you’re at it.

“the creature’s underground structure is so huge that it spans the entire zone”

I had a similar feeling from that line….

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

the reason why no one does them any more is that they nerfed the champ farming and took away the loot bags for different phases and made it a succeed to be rewarded event.

The farmers don’t like it because they do not want to invents 45 min to get their loot-

I tried one of the invasions the other day because I did quite enjoy them at the time- but we were 4 people and so of course we failed

I thought so too, but after re-reading it that is not what it is talking about.

The Wurm boss has 3 heads, each spawns in a different part of the map. You need to have 3 different zergs killing all three heads simultaneously. You almost certainly have to kill them all within a minute or so of each other or the head respawns somewhere else. Basically it is saying the heads can come up anywhere in the zone.

It is certainly possible that we get a huge underground zone, but i’d put the odds at 10,000 to 1 that it is the randomly spawning heads it is talking about.

I think the wurm is a side effect of the ‘mysterious probes’, scarlet trying to awaken a specific dragon has also riled up this new wurm.

It was thinking the same

Yeah after reading the article it sounds more like the Wurm is just a side effect of the Thumper Probes and not the end result that Scarlet is seeking. They likened it to earth worms coming up when the ground is wet and people stomping/walking on the ground and them coming up.

Tahida Covington, the “Hydra Queen”. A title that makes absolutely no sense at all to me, since it’s a pirate boss, but you do get an achievement out of defeating her. On the “annoying” scale she’s somewhere between the Fire Shaman and Lyssa.

The hunt was just a idea more than a year ago, at that time only 1 person at anet was on the project and it was only when she had time for it. 8 month ago it was a ongoing project about crafting precusor and 2-3 months ago Anet said that it will be postpone to 2014.

Anyway, Anet official said that a couple of weeks ago that the first 4 release of 2014 will finish the current living story and the next one will be a feature only release. You should at least read what Anet say don’t you think.

I don’t understand what are your expectations people.

Let me answer your question with a question. Why aren’t your expectations higher? Do you not think the developers of ArenaNet capable of producing content of the highest quality? I do. Why don’t you? And if you do, why don’t you expect them to deliver what they’re capable of delivering?

Living story content is great, I don’t say it has a strong story, but it is fun!

That’s subjective. Objectively, much of the Living Story has either been temporary or filler. The developers have said both temporary and filler content isn’t the best way to make a game.

I, for example, loved scarlet invasions and it is sad that almost nobody does them by now.

What was it you liked about them? Did you actually find them fun? Or did you just do them because the loot/effort ratio worked was lucrative?

Everyone just farm their way to legendary and forget about all the fun

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t FUN supposed to be the entire point of video games?

I don’t agree with this. I had fun in the Scarlet invasions, but they occurred too frequently. Because they occured so frequently I burned out on them.

Sometimes a great song is played too much on the radio. It gets played out and I start to not want to hear it. It doesn’t mean it’s not a great song.

I enjoyed the Scarlet invasions, and not predominantly for the loot. It was content we could run as a guild and we were all in mumble, running around, having a blast. It was fun.

Was the farming a part of it? Sure it was. But that doesn’t mean I wasn’t having fun.

I did find them fun for a change of pace at the time because they were frantic and fast paced and had a sense of immediacy that I enjoyed- did about one a day.

this was right after Queens Jubilee I spent fighting in the cages (which was 1 vs 1)- so it was nice to be out again

Then of course the farming started and it was not fun for me anymore so I stopped doing it-
I remember actually cheering when they nerfed it because I didn’t feel you should be rewarded for failing.

Obviously I am in the minority because now, as I said people don’t do them anymore.

What’s to disagree with? Would you not still do the invasion events if you still found them fun? If you’re not doing them it’s either because you don’t find them fun or because you’re no longer a member of the “I don’t grind, I do what I find fun” club. If you found them as fun as you’re letting on, a break should have renewed your interest. If it didn’t, then the only conclusion I can come up with is you didn’t have as much fun doing them as you’re trying to convince us (and yourself) you did.

If it didn’t, then the only conclusion I can come up with is you didn’t have as much fun doing them as you’re trying to convince us (and yourself) you did.

I find lots of stuff fun in moderation. Sometimes I overdo something and it’s not as much fun. What is so hard to understand about this?

It’s content I played through, got the enjoyment out of and don’t do now. It’s like games I played last year. Some of them are still fun, but I don’t play them.

I have X amount of time to do what I want to do, and there’s always new stuff to do. The 40 minute requirement to do that content is simply too much for something I’ve done that many times.

It’s more like a ride at Disney World which I like but don’t particularly have time to go on because there are other rides I like better.

When I do an invasion (I did one like three or four days ago) I still had fun…but there’s so much I do in the game and that’s just one small aspect of it.

Lots of stuff vs not enough time to do everything that I want, whether it’s fun or not.

In fact one of the hardest things about a Scarlet invasion for me has nothing at all to do with how fun it is and has everything to do with the fact that it’s very hard to take breaks during invasions. Often real life considerations don’t let me play for 40 minutes straight.

I will say that even though I’m not thrilled for another Teq, the story in this update seems to be moving in the right direction.

We will finish out the new destiny’s edge with an Asura character, we will theoretically learn what drove Scarlet to her apparent insanity (at least the name of the patch “Origins of Madness” seems to imply that), and we will hopefully start to see Scarlet’s grand scheme in all this chaos.

And if all this concludes in a new dragon I’ll say it was worth all the torture.

A new dragon is welcome, but if I’m fighting it (or it’s minions) in existing zones then it’s not good enough in my book (your mileage may vary). I want a new dragon to be a catalyst to opening up more of the world for exploration, not just giving us something to do in zones we’ve explored many times over.

So the Thumpers aren’t here for Primordus but… a jungle worm revamp? Related to Mordremorth perhaps? I’d hope so like I hoped for Primordus, but Anet keeps avoiding the dragons at all costs….

They say the wurm boss has multiple heads (three) but the one in the video only has one. That may not actually be the boss.

If it is a champion of Mordremorth like Shatty or the Claw, this game is saved in my eyes, for now.

Stuff “under Bloodtide Coast” sounds very interesting though. I wonder what the hell is the Order of Whispers up to, if we’re doing this mission with the Durmand Priory, right at Whispers’ doorstep!

sigh… all this hype about the final four releases, fist patch back from a long break and what do we get? Two boring world bosses that will either be to hard and abandoned like the new Tequatl (the most poorly designed epic failure in ArenaNet history) or something like the KarKa Queen who is easy yet no body gives a kitten about it because of its location and effort involved to spawn it.

I honestly was expecting something good in these final four releases, did they learn nothing from the epic train wreck that was Tequatl 2.0?

I have a problem.

As soon as I saw the giant watchknight, I thought of Margaret Thatcher.

@Arnath
Tequilla is actually super fun when done properly. TeamSpeak, prior organisation and division of players, right armor and food etc. It even works better now that they’ve set its spawn timer. The “failure” was in the people who did not bother / put any effort into it. That’s also why overflows were a big deal. If everyone cared, did their part and listened on VOIP or actually read the map chat, it wouldn’t matter if you would end up in an overflow because people would at least be trying. It’s all about player organisation, and on some servers it failed. Anet should have fixed AFKers and maybe given us the choice of overflows, but Teq is a good and challenging content. Anet has many mistakes (like absolutely no story accompanying Teq release), but abandonment of this event is purely players’ lazyness / lack of cooperation, not something to be blamed on developers.

Another underwhelming release by the sounds of it. I’ll carry on hoping there’ll be a reason to play this game some day.

Transfer to JQ

Teq is downed 3 times a day, and kakra is downed 3-4 times a day. After reset JQ has 3-4 overflows that all down Teq. (you will need to show up an hour before spawn to get a spot in a competent overflow)

I agree they aren’t the best design, especially for small servers, but they are done daily if you are actually looking to do them and not just complain. Hopefully this new boss scales better so we can do it with 20 people or 200.

Can we at least wait until we play these encounters once before deciding they’re horrible?

@Arnath what lesson did you expect them to learn from tequalt 2.0 ? I mean you havent tried any of those encounters hence you dont know if the issues that you had with tequalt are present in these encounters as well. So essentially the only lesson that would fit your criteria would be no boss fights at all! I am hoping thats not what you actually meant!
