New weapons for the classes
Yes there are they’ve said that they want all classes to wield almost all weapons
I think they said they were considering having all classes wield almost all weapons at one point – not necessarily that they “want” to have that.
Either way, though, they are planning to expand the lists of weapons available to each profession – however, no timeline has been given and there’s been no indication that it’s something they’re currently working on.

Yes, on the pipes most likely the most requested ones;
Greatsword for Elementalists
Longbow for Guardian.

I think there is less demand for guardian longbow since the sceptre projectile finally got its speed boost (although another ranged options for guardians is still better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick, and it’d be interesting to see what ArenaNet would do with a guardian bow).
From my perspective, the current holes seem to be:
Elementalist: A non-conjured true melee weapon, for a more dervishy-like playstyle. I could see this working as a one- or two-handed weapon.
Engineer: A non-kit melee weapon. My money would be on the mace. (This is one that I’ve seen a red post join in by expressing an “I’d love to have this too” sentiment.)
Guardian: For PvE, I think the guardian’s in a fairly good spot, but a 1200 range weapon with a higher projectile speed would certainly be a worthy contender.
Mesmer: One-handed ranged weapon that doesn’t auto-generate clones and thus plays more nicely with phantasm-heavy styles. (Pistol is the main contender – although I at least hope that they’ll keep the magic there rather than have it feel like a gunslinger firing pink plasma bolts.)
Necromancer: It’s hard to define, but I think the necromancer’s lineup is lacking a certain… something. Possibly a long-range power weapon that isn’t all marks like the staff. I’m not sure.
Ranger: Could probably do with a melee mainhand that doesn’t have the current awkwardness of the sword, and a ranged mainhand that is more single-target focused.
Thief: 1200 range weapon, particularly now Cluster Bomb has been nerfed (unfortunate, I used to love lobbing a cluster bomb at maximum range and then put a poison field under it for the combo). Rifle is clearly the main contender here.
Warrior: Because the warrior has so many weapons, I’m really not sure. From a mechanical standpoint, an obvious thing that’s missing is a mainhand ranged weapon – however, I suspect that this is deliberate due to the way axe 4 works. Still, a pistol would probably work well enough, on the principle that the mainhand side of the Dual Strike animation would probably work for a pistol whip.

Longbow and rifle for thief!!
To be nerfed 1-2 patches later to 900 range. xD
I want my dual focus on Mesmer. One day I hope to dual wield Minstrels.
I believe that classes will recieve currently existing weapons first, instead of newly created ones. So, it would be a little longer till we see Glaive or Crossbow in game.
In this point of view, here’s the list that would be the best in my opinion for a ‘’trial run’’.
Warrior: Main-hand Mace
Guardian: Off-hand Sword
Engineer: Hammer
Ranger: Rifle
Thief: Torch (arson y’all)
Mesmer: Main-hand Pistol
Necromancer: Main-hand Mace
Elementalist: Main-hand Sword
In addition to these; some new weapon usages could add diversity to the gameplay. Things like main-hand Torch or Focus; or off-hand Scepter could create really cool stuff both gameplay-wise and flavor-wise.

I remember it was officially confirmed Engineers WILL get hammers at some point.
I can’t decide whether to get Mjolnir or Juggernaut for my Sylvari Engineer! Q_Q
You know, I’ve never thought about it before, but what i thieves for a 1200 range torch set in stead of rifle?
That’d be unique. Mainhand torch/dual torches. I mean the bandits in pre-searing used those cool double torch staves right?

Mhmm throwing a torch as far as a rifle shoots? Isn’t that somewhat far?
On a sidenote there are a couple of interesting weapons:
- Greataxes: warrior, guardian, thief (as executioner-like)
- Hammers and maces for engineer duh
- Ranger actually seems to have everything it needs. Longbow for ranged, shortbow for up close range, greatsword for gap closing and hack n slash melee, sword for dodgy melee, torch pretty good for offhand, warhorn just awesome, axe has nice aoe.
- Necromancer could maybe use a scythe/greataxe too (only 1 two-handed atm)
- Guardian lacks a decent ranged weapon (scepter not so good), but I can’t really think of a guardian with rifle or longbow. Would look ridiculous. Maybe some kind of orb?
- Elementalist could really use a greatsword (à la fiery greatsword, with different skills).
- Warrior should be able to use spears.
- Mesmer seems fine to me.
I want Sword/Sword and Greatsword on my Elementalist!
Necromancer greatsword
Ele off hand torch
Screw greatsword, I want a hammer on my elementalist!
And perhaps amphibious spear! Well, and sword/sword. & longbow.
Mesmer – off hand scepter, main hand pistol, main hand torch
Necro – hammer, amphibious trident, off hand torch
Thief – off hand torch
Engi – main hand mace, off hand torch, hammer
Ranger – hammer
Warrior – spear
Guardian – main hand torch, amphibious spear
I want my dual focus on Mesmer. One day I hope to dual wield Minstrels.
Dual minstrels? Maybe you meant dual Fan Foci! Like a Fan Geisha!

This would be pretty cool.
While I always would ask for rifle for ranger and hammer for engineers,…. somebody said… greatsword for necro? hmmm oddly that sounds appealing…ahahah
You can pretty much put dual wielding off-hand weapons out of your mind – the off-hand only weapons are all cheaper than main hand weapons (check the Dungeon vendors). They’re not going to prioritize super-cheap set-ups.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

2h axe for warriors was hinted at as possible expansion content during the BWEs.
Colin said something about hammers being cool for engineers and wanting to add that during one of the more recent interviews.
You know, I’ve never thought about it before, but what i thieves for a 1200 range torch set in stead of rifle?
Torch is an offhand in GW2. You can see for example that they are cheaper in dungeon tokens than the other one handed weapon. There’s little chance they’ll make a main hand torch or shield or focus anytime soon, for sure not before they use up all the other options.
Longshot for them to implement new weapons but I want a Scythe for my Necro!
Other than that I wouldn’t mind a GS with Melee cleave and a invulnerability on it.
I’d love to get a hammer on my engi.
mesmer with hammer should be fun
:/ Why do people want torches on thieves…
I want greatswords (katana/ninja like fighting), rifle(sniper like, long range)
:D but I can totally see them giving us the torches.
Warrior needs to have ALL the weapons…

We absolutely will do new weapons.
New weapons are going to be things that are very high on the list of stuff we consider; along with taking weapons that already exist and expanding them out to other professions as well.
We like to do both of those things.
Guild Wars 2: Colin Johanson PAX 2013 Interview w/ Your Question
I imagen its going to still be very class related as we seen a Mesmer using a GS like a laze and less like a melee wepon. So we could see say a war use a staff like a bow-staff more of an melee wepon with aoe or an ele using a hammer sword or GS any melee wepon as a means of shooting element attks at a long ranges. So these weapons are not going to class the class but explained on what the class can already do.
The way i think they are going to do this is by looking at what classes are not able to use any weapons from all the weapons crafting. So Ele is missing a huntsman class wepon gun bows touches where the War class is missing a wepon from artificer. There are some classes that can use weapons from all 3 as is say Mesmer.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA
Think I would like to see more build options with current weapons first. Every class already has weapons that you would never use.

Doubt that will happen, let’s hope that the new weapons will at least not be as broken as some…

Ranger Warden, Staff could be very fun.
I would love to see:
Thief – Greatsword – Staff (For some kind of thiefy support.((I imagine a skill like mesmer’s veil and some other weirdly interesting things like that for thief)) )
Warrior – Offhand Pistol (Rytlock has one)
Elementalist – Greatsword – Axe in mh or oh (dervish style like draxynnic said)
Guardian – Longbow – Mainhand axe
Necromancer – Greatsword (Reaper fighting with highish life force gain like dagger except with cleaving attacks)
Mesmer – Mainhand pistol sounds good
Engineer – Hammer – Main hand Mace
Ranger – Staff – Rifle – Scepter – Focus (Warden style excluding rifle)

plenty of niceness in the list, but forgive me for being a noob but what is Warden style?

“At one point in development, according to The Making of Guild Wars 2 book, the ranger profession of the original Guild Wars was split into many different professions, notably the warden and the marksman. Eventually, with only marksman remaining, who only possessed only the aspect of ranged weaponry, was combined with already scrapped elements of warden and beastmaster, and renamed the result as ranger for the sake of the original series.”

Natures Warrior/Guardian. Uses nature magic, animals, and possibly shapeshift to protect. At least how I see the role. Radagast The Brown comes to mind in the Hobbit.

Which, when you think about it, probably goes some way to explaining why the melee weapons have flashy spirit-animal effects while the bows are all pretty much vanilla “I shoot arrows at you” skills – they were initially designed for different classes.
